Jennifer Aniston may have gone Instagram official with boyfriend Jim Curtis last month, but it appears that she still needs to adjust to her new normal with the handsome hypnotherapist.
“It’s a culture shock, but Jim isn’t interested in turning into a piece of high-fashion arm candy just to keep up with Jen,” a source with longtime ties to the Friends star’s team exclusively tells Star.
The 56-year-old A-list actress — whose last major public relationship was her marriage to Justin Theroux, which ended in 2018 — has been linked to the 50-year-old since July.
In November, she shared a photo to her Instagram of herself hugging Curtis in celebration of his birthday, calling him “my love.” Days later, they made their red-carpet debut at Elle’s 2025 Women in Hollywood celebration.
According to Star’s source, “For Jen and Jim to work out in the long term, they’re going to have to find a middle ground between Jim’s low-key, thrift-store approach and Jen’s world, where she gets waited on hand and foot as a matter of habit.”
The actress is no stranger to the spotlight. In fact, in 2019, she broke a Guinness World Record for being the person with the fastest time to reach 1 million Instagram followers (it took her only five hours and 16 minutes).
“For this to work, Jen is the one who has to change, and she knows it,” the source insists. “For all the talk about how she is ‘down to earth’ and ‘normal,’ Jim is the one who has real-world, non-famous friends, not Jen.”
The source says that the Emmy Award winner is starting by “completely remodeling her Bel-Air house to fit Jim’s needs and accommodate how he wants to do his work.”
However, the insider points out, “She did the exact same thing for Justin Theroux, and that relationship still ended in failure.”
“Jen can’t pretend to change to meet Jim in the middle,” says the source. “He has to do it for real, and it’s not a problem she can just throw money at to make it go away. For Jen and Jim to have a long-term future together, they’re both going to have to make huge sacrifices!”
Jim Curtis Not Okay With Becoming Jennifer Aniston’s ‘Arm Candy’ — Source
Jennifer Aniston didn’t mind announcing her relationship with Jim Curtis on Instagram. However, the Murder Mystery actress will reportedly have to make several alterations to her lifestyle to get on the same page with Curtis. After several years in the industry, Aniston enjoys a page 3 lifestyle. However, her boyfriend’s low-key living style demands that Aniston tone down her celebrity lifestyle.
Jennifer Aniston and Jim Curtis might have to find a middle ground for their relationship to work, claims source
Aniston reportedly started getting closer to Curtis in the first half of the year. By July 2025, the two had entered a full-fledged romantic relationship. The Friends actress was spotted vacationing with the wellness coach in Mallorca on July 13, which confirmed the speculations about their relationship to an extent.
However, Aniston took some more time to put an official seal on her romantic involvement with Curtis. On November 2, the 56-year-old actress shared an Instagram snap featuring the duo in a loving pose. Besides the snap, the caption to Aniston’s post also served as the official indicator of her relationship with Curtis.
“Happy birthday, my love. Cherished,” stated the actress.

However, an insider related to Aniston’s team recently detailed how the difference between the lifestyles of the two is creating some issues. “Jim isn’t interested in turning into a piece of high-fashion arm candy just to keep up with Jen,” said the source, indicating Curtis’s lack of interest in the celebrity lifestyle (via Star Magazine).
The source also said that the couple will have to work out their differences to make their relationship last longer. He suggested finding a “middle ground” between the celebrity and the low-key lifestyles to make the Aniston-Curtis bonding last longer.
While both might have to compromise in bits and pieces to reach the point, the insider highlighted that Aniston will have to make the bigger changes. “For this to work, Jen is the one who has to change, and she knows it,” the source stated. “For all the talk about how she is ‘down to earth’ and ‘normal,’ Jim is the one who has real-world, non-famous friends, not Jen.
Jennifer Aniston Reveals the Shockingly Short Amount of Time She Kept ‘The Rachel’ Haircut
The actress reflected on the iconic hairstyle in an interview with ‘Elle’

- Speaking with Elle, Jennifer Aniston revealed how long she actually kept “the Rachel,” the iconic hairstyle she wore as her character Rachel Green on Friends
- The actress has long spoken about her disdain for the influential hairstyle, created by celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan
- In 2011, Aniston told Allure that the style “was not my best look”
Jennifer Aniston is revealing the truth behind her most iconic hairstyle.
While speaking with Elle as a 2025 Women in Hollywood honoree, the Morning Show actress, 56, reflected on the choppy, shoulder-length hairstyle — dubbed “the Rachel” — that she famously wore as her character Rachel Green on the ’90s sitcom Friends.
Aniston expressed similar sentiments when speaking with Marie Clare in 2013, telling the outlet then that “‘The Rachel’ was … horrible and … high maintenance.”
Courtesy of hairstylist Chris McMillan, “the Rachel”‘s influence has endured for decades but Aniston jokes that in reality, the style was short-lived.
“It had a beautiful six months that’s lasted 30 years,” she told the outlet.

Aniston also shared that of all the characters she’s played, she’s most like Rachel. “Except my family had no money growing up,” she clarified, “and she did.”
The star added: “I want to be like Alex [Levy, her character on The Morning Show]. I love her! Not that I want to be a mean, badass bitch, but there’s something about it. It’s fun to yell and tell someone off.”
Aniston has long spoken out about her disdain for her famous haircut.
In 2011, she told Allure that despite her working relationship and friendship with McMillan, he was “the bane of my existence because he started that damn Rachel, which was not my best look.”
The actress added, “‘How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen.'”

She also shared that the style “took three brushes” and was “like doing surgery,” adding, “I’d curse Chris every time I had to blow-dry.”
Despite her feelings on “the Rachel,” Aniston recently put a fresh spin on the cut. On Monday, Sept. 8, the actress was spotted in New York City with a new look just in time for fall. The star’s highlighted brunette hair appeared to feature several layers and slightly curled ends, harkening back to her iconic Friends style.
Aniston paired her fresh cut with a black satin midi dress and a fitted black blazer, which she accessorized with orange-tinted aviator sunglasses and the Aupen Nova bag in black.
