Sawyer is one hopeful pup.

Being saved from a puppy mill alongside his littermates and brought to a Wisconsin shelter, he spent every single day hoping. Then, one of his siblings got adopted… and another… and another after that.

Eventually, Sawyer was the only one left from his family whose hopes weren’t answered. His heart shattered as he pleaded behind those bars, begging people to notice him at least once.

What Sawyer didn’t know at the time was that fate had plans for him… he just needed to wait a little longer!

Heartbroken To Be Left Out

Sawyer arrived at Elmbrook Humane Society in Wisconsin as a shy puppy. He was nothing more than a tiny bundle of joy who could fit in a pocket. Yet, he was so terrified of his new environment, burdened by past trauma.

Before he could figure things out, Sawyer became part of a cruel plan in a puppy mill, treated and used as just a number. Thankfully, he was saved alongside his brothers and sisters before he could “fulfill his purpose.”

His misfortune didn’t end in the shelter, though.

As an adoptive dog, Sawyer experienced a whole other type of heartbreak. Now, he was showered with all the care and attention, but his littermates were no longer there.

One by one, they were all adopted into loving homes, leaving Sawyer to cope with feelings of emptiness. 

This little Cattle Dog begged for a chance from his tiny enclosure, giving the people the most heartbreaking look. In a way, he was lost without his family, and yet he desperately needed one.

Underneath, he was a sweetheart, a true companion, and a puppy who could offer a lifetime of love to a happy family.

“Sawyer is a shy but endearing puppy, still adjusting to life outside of the puppy mill where he came from. While he may be timid at first, his quiet, sweet personality hints at the loving companion he’s meant to be,” his Shelterluv profile reads.

Sawyer spent days waiting for things to change for the better. Then, a family walked in and transformed his life for good.

Finally, Good News

In the update video posted by the Elmbrook Humane Society team on their social media, Sawyer can be seen in the arms of his new family. He was eventually spotted by amazing adoptive parents who agreed to take him on a life-changing journey – to a forever home!

“Update: Sawyer is no longer sad, alone, or in a cone! Thank you to his new family for choosing to adopt and thank you to everyone who shared Sawyer’s story,” EHS stated in the video.

From now on, Sawyer will never have to deal with heartbreak again. 

Hopefully, his future days will be filled with joy, smiles, and many exciting adventures… and also plenty of outdoor activities! He is a Cattle Dog after all!
