Selena Gomez is reacting to the comments trailing her now-deleted emotional video on President Donald Trump’s latest move on Mexican immigrants.
The singer took to her Instagram Story with a word condemning critics for her show of empathy concerning the plight of Mexicans in America.
Selena Gomez previously produced a 2019 Netflix documentary, “Living Undocumented,” which focuses on the lives of undocumented immigrants in the United States.
Selena Gomez Felt Helpless About President Trump’s Decision To Deport Mexican Immigrants
Shortly after taking down her emotional rant, Gomez uploaded a short write-up reacting to the backlash she received for getting vulnerable on camera. “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people,” the Golden Globes nominated actress wrote on her Instagram Story.
In the deleted video, Gomez could be seen visibly shedding tears as she declared, “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
Once again, internet users are erupting with opinions on her latest post, basically calling it an attempt to come back from a “very ridiculous and embarrassing” move, according to this user.
“The focus right now is keeping America safe! Her outcry really disregarded that,” another commenter noted. One more X subscriber added: “Crying is natural. Recording yourself and sharing it for attention isn’t.”

While speaking on her Netflix documentary in an essay to the Times, the actress opened up on her family’s origin as immigrants who entered the United States through the border.
As shared by Daily Mail, Gomez recalled her family’s journey in the United States beginning with her aunt crossing the border in the 1970s hidden in the back of a trunk.
“Undocumented immigration is an issue I think about every day, and I never forget how blessed I am to have been born in this country thanks to my family and the grace of circumstance,” Gomez declared.
She continued that she feels concerned and afraid for her country whenever she comes across debates and new headlines about “immigration rage.” Gomez added that as a “Mexican-American woman,” she feels responsible for using her platform to speak on behalf of people who are too afraid to speak.
“When I signed on to executive-produce a show about undocumented immigrants, I couldn’t help but anticipate the criticisms I might face. But the truth is, the worst criticism I can imagine is still nothing compared to what undocumented immigrants face every day,” the Disney child star admitted.
She charged her fans and followers not to turn deaf ears to the struggles of immigrants across the country and to always educate themselves on issues that affect these people.
The ‘Wolves’ Singer Slammed Online Body Shamers Last Year
The actress appeared ravishing on the red carpet premiere of “Emilia Perez” in Los Angeles last November. She showed off her curvy figure in a black dress with a high slit that gave an immaculate view of her legs adorned with matching black heels.
However, The Blast noted that critics on social media tore apart her perfect outing, and when the singer became aware, she promptly addressed it.
“This makes me sick… I have SEBO in my small intestine. It flares up. I don’t care that I don’t look like a sick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story. No, I am NOT a victim. I’m just human,” Gomez wrote.
The Netflix Star’s Struggle With Mental Health
Gomez has a lot on her plate, so warding off insensitive critics is vital to her mental health and inner peace. The star previously detailed her battle with a psychosis episode shortly after she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2018.
She revealed that she had to relearn some words while she detoxed for medication. Gomez also discussed the difficulties she faced in accepting her diagnosis.
The Nickelodeon star explained that her mental health condition required not only acknowledgment of her condition but also the need to learn how to live with it.
She mentioned that her condition also greatly impacted her memory, causing her to lose track of her location while engaged in conversations. Another effect of the illness was that she could only recall small fragments of that particular time in her life.
Selena Gomez Credited ‘A Sound Support System’ For Progress In Her Mental Health Journey
Luckily for the newly engaged actress, she has found a way to drown out the noise and remain grounded. She spilled helpful nuggets on how she preserves her mental health at the annual Rare Impact Fund Event in October 2024. In her words:
“Try not to isolate. I think it’s important to have moments alone, but when you isolate, sometimes those feelings can just stay bottled up.”
Gomez emphasized the significance of a reliable support system, highlighting that no one is truly self-sufficient. She advised finding at least one trustworthy person to confide in and reiterated the importance of having someone who can keep secrets and provide a safe space for sharing one’s feelings.

P Diddy accused of raping two women in New York City Trump Hotel penthouse in latest lawsuits
Diddy was accused of sexual assault in two new lawsuits. He was accused of taking women to the Trump Hotel in New York after extravagant club parties.
In the latest civil complaints against Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, the rapper was accused of assaulting two women at a Trump Hotel in New York City.
Two separate complaints by Jane Does were filed against the music mogul on Feb. 4 in the New York Supreme Court. Both stories share similarities, including a setting at a night club called Limelight before moving to the Trump Hotel. However, it is not clear at this time if they were concurrently occurring instances.
In the first lawsuit, according to documents obtained by The Mirror, the Plaintiff alleged she was assaulted multiple times by Diddy, including a night where she attended an event at Limelight in Manhattan in the 1990s. “Combs organized the event, spanning five floors of the club, with the top two floors dedicated to exclusive sex parties involving group sexual activities directed by and involving Combs,” the Plaintiff claimed.
She claimed that, after attempting to leave, she was taken with her friends to the Trump Hotel penthouse “without the ability to leave, were drugged, and forced to participate in group-sex activity during which she sexually assaulted over the next several hours.”

The second lawsuit also cited a night at “at a multi-story night club called the Limelight” in the 1990s. “The top two floors of the club were exclusively occupied by group-sex parties, where individuals engaged sexual activities at the direction of and in participation with Combs,” the lawsuit alleged.
The Plaintiff alleged she fought with Diddy’s security guard before the rapper slapped and detained her. She “feared for her life.” Then, allegedly, the “security guard took Plaintiff and her friend to the Trump Hotel in midtown Manhattan. When they got to the hotel, the women were taken up to a penthouse.”
The documents added: “At the penthouse, Plaintiff was put in a room with the security guard, who assaulted her physically and sexually her while Combs watched. Plaintiff and her friend then were forced to take what she believes to have been ecstasy or similar ‘party’ drug.
“Further, both women were forced to engage in a group sex activity that she did not want to participate in, but Combs had made clear that they had no choice and that they were not allowed to leave. After several more hours in the penthouse, Combs finally allowed Plaintiff and her friend to leave.”
Attorney Tony Buzbee told The Mirror: “These latest two cases are part of a group of at least ten cases that will be filed in New York over the next several days. I expect there will be many more that we will file thereafter to meet the upcoming deadline at the end of February. We will continue to lead the civil effort in this matter and look forward to giving these victims a voice by trying these cases in court.”
The Mirror contacted the office of President Donald Trump and Trump Hotels.
A representative for Diddy told The Mirror: “As we’ve said before, Mr. Combs cannot respond to every new publicity stunt, even in response to claims that are facially ridiculous or demonstrably false. Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.”
Selena Gomez Responds to Republican Politician Who Says She Should Be Deported After Tearful Video with Mexican Flag
This comes one day after Gomez shared a tearful video, saying, “All my people are getting attacked, the children … I wish I could do something but I can’t”
In an emotional op-ed for Time in October 2019, she shared that her aunt “was the first out of her family to cross the border from Mexico into the U.S. in the back of a truck in the 1970s.” According to the singer, her “grandparents followed” and her “father was born in Texas soon after.”
“Undocumented immigration is an issue I think about every day, and I never forget how blessed I am to have been born in this country thanks to my family and the grace of circumstance,” she wrote in the op-ed.
The Only Murders in the Building star noted that her story wasn’t the norm, and shared while watching footage about the eight subjects in Living Undocumented, “When I read the news headlines or see debates about immigration rage on social media, I feel afraid for those in similar situations. I feel afraid for my country.”
Karla Sofía Gascón Refutes Negative Post About Emilia Pérez Costar Selena Gomez: ‘I Would Never Refer to Her That Way’
“I have never said anything about my colleague,” Gascón told CNN
Karla Sofía Gascón is insisting she never insulted her Emilia Pérez costar Selena Gomez on social media.
After several of Gascón’s old X posts resurfaced, drawing allegations of racism and Islamophobia, the Academy Award-nominated actress, 52, sat down with CNN en Español for an emotional interview. In the hour-long discussion, which aired Feb. 2, Gascón’s apologized for the old posts — but maintained that the alleged comments about Gomez, 32, were fabricated.
Addressing the controversial tweet, in which she reportedly called Gomez a “rich rat” amid the performer’s rumored feud with Hailey Bieber, Gascón told CNN, “It’s not mine, of course.”
According to The Latin Times, the alleged post says in full: “She’s a rich rat who plays the poor b—— whenever she can and will never stop bothering her ex-boyfriend and his wife,” referring to Gomez’s ex Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey.
Gascón, however, insists that those words did not come from her. “I have never said anything about my colleague,” she told CNN. “I would never refer to her that way.”
PEOPLE has previously reached out to both Gomez and Gascón for comment.
In her tearful CNN interview, Gascón also suggested that the allegedly fake post may have been an attempt to purposefully damage her Oscar campaign amid the ongoing voting period — a claim that came after she revealed that she would not be exiting the award-show race.
People “have dedicated themselves to searching, to put together all the things that I had said at a time that I had written — most of which are false … most of them I don’t even recognize that I wrote them,” the star claimed. “And they put them all together and so it seems that she is a very bad person and we remove her just when we can do the most damage, right in the voting period.”
Discussing her decision to stay in the Oscar race despite the backlash for her controversial posts about Muslim culture, George Floyd, diversity at the Oscars and more, Gascón told CNN, “I cannot renounce a nomination because what I have done is a job and what is being valued is my acting work,” per a translation by The Hollywood Reporter.
“I cannot step down from an Oscar nomination because I have not committed any crime, nor have I harmed anyone,” she continued. “I am neither racist nor anything that all these people have tried to make others believe I am.”
And, addressing her resurfaced posts in a Jan. 30 statement to PEOPLE, Gascón said: “I want to acknowledge the conversation around my past social media posts that have caused hurt. As someone in a marginalized community, I know this suffering all too well and I am deeply sorry to those I have caused pain. All my life I have fought for a better world. I believe light will always triumph over darkness.”
Gascón’s Emilia Pérez costar Zoe Saldaña discussed the controversy surrounding the actress at a recent Q&A in London.
“I’m still processing everything that has transpired in the last couple of days, and I’m sad,” Saldaña, 46, said at the Jan. 31 event, per THR. “It makes me really sad because I don’t support [it], and I don’t have any tolerance for any negative rhetoric towards people of any group.”
“I can only attest to the experience that I had with each and every individual that was a part, that is a part, of this film, and my experience and my interactions with them was about inclusivity and collaboration and racial, cultural, and gender equity,” Saldaña continued. “And it just saddens me.”
