When it comes to stray dogs, it’s not uncommon to see them wandering around the streets no matter where you live.
In fact, it’s a universal problem, but the dogs have somewhat adapted to it, even though many of them still struggle a lot daily.
However, pups who have been abandoned by their owners after spending years indoors are not so lucky. Many of them have trouble adapting to life outside.
Some even stay and wait for their owners to come back indefinitely, even though there is very little chance of that happening. This pup’s situation was much worse.
She was abandoned by her owner and left in a cage where she was freezing for hours until kind rescuers came to help her.
Rise’s New Hope

When rescuers from Kings Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter in Iowa first came upon a dog who was left to freeze in cold weather, they were in complete shock.
Apparently, her owner was seen dumping her on the street near the old shelter building before leaving.
I assume that the owner thought that people still worked there, so it would be a good idea to dump her where she would immediately receive help.
However, that was not the case because the building had been unoccupied for months. The rescuers also looked through CCTV footage and saw that the dog followed his owner all the way to her kennel before she was abandoned.

They noticed that he was limping, which was incredibly sad to see. After the owner left, a Good Samaritan spotted the sorrowful pup and called for help.
The Iowa rescuers came to the scene and were horrified by what they saw. First, Rise looked like she had been severely neglected.
Rise was very thin and had a limp, so the rescuers quickly took her to the shelter where they could give her the care she really needed.
She Will Bounce Back

After she was finally safe, she received medical treatment and was on her way to recovery. Fortunately for her, she didn’t have any debilitating health issues, so her healing journey would be a quick one.
She will still have to receive her vaccines before she can be placed on an adoption list or go into a foster home.
Nevertheless, her rescuers are already considering her options and are trying their best to find her foster parents who will care for her until she finds a new family.

They don’t know what this owner’s story was. He could indeed have treated his dog better, and the least he could have done was surrender her directly to the shelter if he could not care for her.
Kings Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter emphasized that people should not be afraid to reach out if they are struggling to care for their dogs.
It was only thanks to the kindness of a stranger that this pup was found in time and given a new chance at life. She deserves better than this in the future.
