As a parent we know we would do anything to protect our children, our desire to keep them safe comes before our own safety and wellbeing.
One mother cat stepped into a deadly situation when she saved her kittens from a burning building.
When firefighters were called to the garage fire in Brooklyn they noticed the heroic cat carrying her kittens one by one out of the flaming building.
She went back into the burning building five times to rescue her babies and after she had carried them to safety she touched each of their noses to make sure they were still alive.
The cat, later named Scarlett, then collapsed after her heroic rescue.
According to an account on imgur firefighter David Giannelli noticed the brave cat saving her kittens.
“Scarlett herself had been severely burned in the process of pulling her kittens from the fire. Her eyes were blistered shut, her ears and paws burned, and her coat highly singed,” the post read.
“The majority of her facial hair had been burnt away. After saving the kittens she was seen to touch each of her kittens with her nose to ensure they were all there and alive, as the blisters on her eyes kept her from being able to see them, and then she collapsed unconscious.”
Brooklyn firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and get Scarlett and her babies medical attention. Unfortunately, one of her babies didn’t make it but the others were treated and found forever homes.
Adopted by family in Brooklyn
Her story attracted media attention around the world and she even became the subject of several books written about her including “Scarlett Saves her Family” and “The Bravest Cat”.
Scarlett was adopted by a Brooklyn family and lived 12 happy years with lots of love until her death in 2008.
An award was even named after her by The North Shore Animal League, which treated Scarlett and her kittens, to honor other heroic animals.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton rescue “hardly alive” kitten, give him a home
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have an unexpected new member of their family: a kitten they nursed back from near-death after finding him near their home.
Stefani shared the news on social media, writing that she and Shelton found a male kitten near their property. The No Doubt singer said the cat was in bad shape, describing him as “hardly alive” and “so sick.”
But the celebrity couple took the kitten into their home for some much-needed TLC. Video shows them wrapping the tiny kitten in a blanket.
Over time, the cat’s health improves—he’s seen walking around after regaining his strength. Stefani wrote that he “became a healthy kitten.”
“You’re doing incredible. Gettin’ fat,” Shelton is heard telling the kitten.

Stefani wrote that they have now adopted the cat as part of the family, naming him “Corn Shelton.” “We’re so grateful that he’s a part of our family,” she wrote.
The story touched many fans’ hearts online, with many saying that it was meant to be. “Welcome to the good life, Corn. You sure picked the right family!” one comment reads.
“The cat distribution system is always on time,” another wrote.
After getting adopted by these two music megastars, Corn is already going Hollywood: he made a cameo appearance on the season premiere of The Voice, on which Stefani is a coach.
Stefani and Shelton have been married since 2021, and share a ranch in Oklahoma that is home to many animals, including another cat and two dogs named Betty and Ginger.
Last year, Stefani announced that one of her cats gave birth to six kittens:
