Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are divorced and legally single.
A Nashville, Tennessee, judge on Tuesday issued an order dissolving the 19-year marriage of the Oscar-winning actor and the Grammy-winning country singer.
The judge said in a court filing that the couple’s settlements on splitting assets and child custody are sufficient, and granted them the divorce.
Kidman filed for divorce in September. The superstar split was a surprise to most of the public, but it had clearly been in the works for a while. All the legal issues involving assets and custody had been settled and signed the day of her filing.
Tennessee requires a 90-day waiting period for couples with minor children before a divorce can take effect.
Kidman and Urban, both 58, have two teenage daughters together. Their divorce filing said they had “marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences.”
The plan they signed states that Kidman would be the primary residential parent to the children. It suggested they would remain living in Nashville as they have all their lives. The filing states that neither parent would need child or spousal support, and lays out a roughly equal division of their joint assets.
Two of the biggest stars to come out of Australia in recent decades, Kidman and Urban met in Los Angeles in 2005 and were married in Sydney the following year. They were red carpet fixtures throughout their two-decade relationship, with Urban joining his wife at the Oscars and Kidman attending music events like the Academy of Country Music Awards. The couple had publicly but lovingly described some marital difficulties, yet there were still few outward signs the divorce was coming.
The marriage was the first for Urban and the second for Kidman, who was married to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001. Kidman also has two older children with Cruise.

A hearing was scheduled in Nashville for Tuesday, however Kidman waived her right to appear in court as she was travelling back from Australia during that the time.
Indeed, the Oscar winner was seen flying out of Sydney days ago after enjoying the holidays back on home soil.
Kidman looked relaxed and rejuvenated as she arrived at Sydney Airport on Sunday ahead of her flight back to Nashville, where she lives in a sprawling $3.5 million mansion she purchased with Urban in 2008.
The star was accompanied by her two daughters on the trip, which marked their first holiday back in Australia without Urban.

Alongside her teenage daughters, Kidman is mom to son Connor, 30, and daughter Bella, 32, with ex Tom Cruise.
The Perfect Couple actress officially filed for divorce from the “Messed Up As Me” songwriter on Tuesday, Sept. 30. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the Babygirl star and the country music singer agreed to a parenting plan and are not to speak badly of each other or other members of the other parent’s family.
The parenting plan outlined in the document states that the former couple will “encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.”
Both Kidman and Urban are also mandated to attend a parenting seminar within 60 days of the divorce filing.
According to the court documents, Kidman and Urban also agreed to Kidman becoming the primary residential parent of their daughters. Since news of her divorce went public, Kidman has been seen out with her two younger daughters. On Nov. 5, the actress attended a Sabrina Carpenter concert, where she was “arrested” by the singer for being “too hot.”
“We come to this arena for magic, right?” Carpenter said in a video captured by PEOPLE, in reference to Kidman’s famous AMC Theatres ad that typically plays before a film shown in the theater.
“Oh my goodness,” Carpenter said as the camera focused on Kidman in the crowd to thunderous applause, before joking, “I expected to find love but not my soulmate.”
The next day, Kidman’s daughter Sunday shared a screenshot of her texts on her Instagram Stories after her actress mom was “arrested” by Carpenter.
“Hi Baby, I’m heading down to be arrested.x,” Kidman’s text to her teenage daughter reads, seemingly sent a few minutes before Carpenter arrested the star for “being too hot.”

According to the parenting plan for their daughters, Faith, 15, and Sunday, 17, both Kidman and Urban are required to “behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent and nurturing relationship with the child even though they are divorced.”
“They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent,” the agreement states. “They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.”
Kidman’s home will be Faith and Sunday’s primary residence as she has them for 306 days out of the year. Urban was granted 59 days out of the year, with their daughters allowed to spend every other weekend, from 10 a.m. on Saturday morning to 6 p.m. on Sunday evening, with him.
Both parents have joint responsibility for major decisions regarding their daughters’ lives.
A source first confirmed to PEOPLE in September that the Oscar-winning actress and the musician, who tied the knot in June 2006, had separated. The insider told PEOPLE that “Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another.”
“She didn’t want this,” the source added. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
TMZ was first to report news of the breakup at the time, citing sources who said the pair have been living apart since the beginning of last summer.

Despite Kidman and Urban no longer being together, they still have a common goal in mind: prioritizing their daughters. A source told PEOPLE exclusively back in November that Faith and Sunday are navigating splitting their time between their two parents as the former couple entered a new era following their divorce.
“Their daughters live with Nicole, but spend as much time with Keith as they want,” the insider shared. “There is no drama.”
Since her split from Urban, Kidman has been soaking in every moment with her girls. On Friday, Jan. 2, the actress celebrated the new year by sharing a photo on her Instagram Stories, seemingly taken on New Year’s Eve, showing her and her daughters from behind as they placed their arms around one another.
One of the girls wore a headband with “2026” on it, as they looked out to the water in Sydney while edited fireworks flashed in front of them. “Looking forward into 2026 xx,” Kidman wrote across the image.
