LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck officially became divorced and single Friday.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge approved their divorce settlement on Jan. 6, and declared that it would take effect on Feb. 21, after California’s required six months passed since Lopez filed to dissolve their two-year-old marriage. The document said they settled through mediation in September, avoiding the kind of drawn-out court fight that other celebrity couples have gone through.
Lopez now drops the Affleck from her legal name. Most of the financial details were kept private, but neither star will pay the other spousal support, and they have no children together so custody is not an issue.
The superstar pairing married in July 2022. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024. The filing said they had separated more than a year earlier.

It was their second stint as a couple. In the early 2000s, they met, fell in love, got engaged and starred together in the infamous “Gigli” and “Jersey Girl” in 2004. They split up that same year, blaming in part the pressure of the public eye.
But to the joy of many fans and perhaps the doubt of others, they got back together two decades later and got married.
Affleck divorced Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children, in 2018. Lopez has been married four times and has twins with singer Marc Anthony.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are officially single.
Although the former couple settled their divorce back on Jan. 6, the Los Angeles County Superior Court declared the couple’s marriage as dissolved and the pair as legally single as of Friday, Feb. 21, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Affleck, 52, and Lopez, 55, initially rekindled their romance in 2021 and married in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022. They later celebrated their nuptials with a ceremony in Georgia in front of friends and family on Aug. 20, 2022.
Lopez filed for divorce exactly two years after the Georgia ceremony, listing April 26, 2024, as the couple’s date of separation and citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
She filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court without a lawyer, requesting no spousal support for either party, for attorney’s fees to be split, and noted that the “exact nature” of their community, quasi-community assets, and separate property and obligations are “unknown” and “will be determined.” In addition, Lopez also requested that her former name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, be restored.

Documents obtained by PEOPLE on Jan. 29 indicated that the former couple will share the profit they obtain from their Beverly Hills, California mansion once it sells. Affleck and Lopez listed the mansion for sale publicly in July 2024, and it remained on the market as of January. Those legal documents indicated that the pair will divide the final sale price of the house between them, but the amounts and percentage each receive will remain confidential.

Since the exes finalized their divorce in January, both Lopez and Affleck have remained busy with work. Lopez appeared at the Sundance Film Festival in January to premiere her new movie musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, which Affleck produced through his company Artists Equity.
Affleck recently appeared in a new Dunkin’ Donuts commercial alongside his Casey Affleck as they revived the DunKings in a Super Bowl spot, which also featured actor Jeremy Strong, former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and his girlfriend Jordon Hudson.
Affleck will head back to the big screen soon with the upcoming release of The Accountant 2, a sequel to his 2016 action-thriller The Accountant. That movie sees Affleck reprise his role as Christian Wolff and Jon Bernthal as his brother Brax. It will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 8 and hit theaters on April 25.

RadarOnline.com can reveal Lopez, 55, has been left feeling embarrassed amid her rumored divorce from Affleck, 51, because the Argo actor was the one who “initiated” their rekindled romance three years ago.
A source said: “She’s furious. He has humiliated her. He was the one who initiated getting back together.
“He’s humiliated her because she made a big deal that he’s the love of her life. They just had two weddings two years ago. This is some kind of a record, they’re not young kids.”
The Jenny from the Block hitmaker and Batman v Superman actor first dated from 2002 to 2004 after starring together in the 2003 box-office bomb Gigli.
Lopez and Affleck rekindled their relationship in July 2021 after J Lo and fiancé Alex Rodriguez split in April of that year.
While the pair secretly eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022, they also threw a star-studded wedding celebration at Affleck’s Riceboro, Georgia one month later.
Lopez later released two projects – the album This Is Me…Now and the accompanying Amazon Prime Documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told – inspired by her and Affleck’s relationship.
An insider told Page Six: “She’s a romantic.”
But sources also claimed Lopez is “furious” and “humiliated” amid her and Affleck’s rumored divorce because – unlike 20 years ago – their respective children are now involved in the split.
The On the Floor chart topper shares twins Max and Emme, 16, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, 55. Affleck has Violet, 18, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 12, from his previous marriage to Juno actress Jennifer Garner, 52.
A source said: “There are five kids involved in this. [Lopez] knew they were going to blend families. She has not fully accepted it is over.”
Another insider claimed Affleck is holding off on filing for divorce in order to avoid humiliating Lopez even further, saying: “He’s very protective of her.”
As RadarOnline.com reported, the news that Affleck is holding off on filing for divorce to “protect” Lopez comes days after it was claimed the pair already finalized their divorce papers.
One insider close to the Good Will Hunting actor and Love Don’t Cost a Thing singer said last week: “They finalized the divorce papers a month ago but are waiting for the right time to drop them.
“At that time, they will release a joint statement that will say how they have much love for each other and how they fought to make it work but couldn’t.
“Honestly, in the end, they could not come to a compromise. What they had before is gone and they have both accepted it.”
Then, on Monday, it was rumored that Lopez and Affleck’s suspected split had grown so ugly that the Hollywood power couple were no longer on speaking terms.
The pair have allegedly cut off all communication with one another as their business managers work behind the scenes to hammer out a divorce agreement.
An insider familiar with the situation said: “J Lo and Ben are not speaking to one another – in person or over the phone – and it’s really slowing down their divorce.”
Affleck has since packed his bags and moved out of the couple’s $60million marital dream home for a $20.5million Pacific Palisades estate. Lopez was then spotted touring a $68million Beverly Hills mansion amid the swirling divorce rumors.
