Barron Trump will once again have a father holding the top seat in the White House. Donald Trump is returning for his second term as President of the United States in January, though his youngest son won’t join him this time.
The 18-year-old Barron has just begun his first year at New York University, where he will study business, just as his dad did.
While Melania has shielded Barron behind the doors of Mar-a-Lago, his father has continued to be a very public figure. During Barron’s upbringing, Melania ensured that he didn’t have to read all the nasty things said about his father in the press. Some things, it must be assumed, will find their way to him anyway.
As per reports, the youngest son of the President-Elect received the terrifying news that his father had been shot during a rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, in July. Luckily, Donald Trump survived. The attack left deep scars on the Trump family, and for Melania, another big fear grew larger and larger: that someone might try to kill her son.
Barron has been closely connected to his father, Donald Trump, all his life. The young boy lived by his father and mother’s side at the White House during Donald’s first presidential tenure, but things will be different now that the teenager has enrolled at New York University to study business.
Only time will tell whether Barron will follow in his father’s footsteps regarding business empires and politics. Earlier this year, Barron could have made his political debut as he was picked by the Republican Party of Florida as one of the state’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention, according to a list of delegates, as per NBC News.
Barron Trump political career
“We have a great delegation of grassroots leaders, elected officials and even Trump family members,” Florida GOP chairman Evan Power said. “Florida is continuing to have a great convention team, but more importantly we are preparing to win Florida and win it big.”
Several Trump family members, including Donald Jr., Eric, and Tiffany, served as delegates for Florida, where their father has officially resided and voted for the last number of years. As a delegate, Barron would be standing on the convention floor, joining the Florida delegation in formally nominating his father.
Becoming one of the state’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention would’ve been Barron’s highest-profile political role to date. However, he and his mother had other plans. Melania Trump’s office eventually issued a statement to say that Barron had declined the invite.
“While Barron is honoured to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” a spokeswoman for Melania said.
As mentioned previously, Barron has rarely been seen in public in recent years. By ll accounts the boy was focused on graduating from his high school, the private Oxbridge Academy. But in January, the world saw the former — and future — POTUS’s youngest son as he joined his family at the funeral for his grandmother, Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs.
Melania Trump made “strategic” choice for Barron’s future
Meanwhile, Melania seems to have been slowly incorporating Barron into the family’s public life. For last year’s Trump family Christmas photo, Barron posed with his father, three siblings, and other family members in a rare picture.
According to Melania’s former senior aide, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Barron’s appearance in the picture was “truly monumental,” as she claimed his “strategic” mom is preparing him for the future.
“Melania’s decision to include Barron in this family activity, even if she couldn’t be there herself, might be a significant turning point, potentially fostering a new level of support between Melania and Donald,” she told the New York Post.
“Barron’s appearance is truly monumental and shows Donald and Melania are in lockstep with one another. I believe we will be seeing more of him now. Nothing happens by chance with Melania.”
Barron has been largely shielded from the media by his mother for almost all his life. He was barely seen during the four years he lived at the White House, and in the years after their exit from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the young boy continued to be kept behind closed doors.
Earlier this year, there were reports about Melania keeping Barron in a “tight bubble” behind the gates of their Palm Beach mansion, Mar-a-Lago. Sadly, in today’s digital era, it isn’t a wild guess to assume that he got word of the July 13 assassination attempt on his father.
One person – a volunteer fire chief – was killed in the shooting that also left two spectators seriously wounded. Donald Trump was shot in the ear. In early October, Trump returned to Butler for another rally.
Melania feared for Barron Trump’s life following the assassination attempt on Donald
“For 15 seconds, time stood still,” Trump told the crowd. “This vicious monster unleashed evil. The villain did not succeed in his goal.”
The horrifying assassination attempt did not affect only Donald but, of course, also his family. In a statement posted on X, Melania revealed the terrifying moment her husband got shot and how she realized that her and Barron Trump’s lives were “on the brink of devastating change.”
In July, Barron made a surprise appearance at his father’s rally at the Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami, Florida. That was his only rally appearance up until Election Day, and Melania was more than shaken after her husband had been shot.
“When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life was on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband,” Melania wrote, as per CNN.
“To the families of the innocent victims who are now suffering from this heinous act, I humbly offer my sincerest sympathy. Your need to summon your inner strength for such a terrible reason saddens me.”
Melania continued: “A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion – his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration. The core facets of my husband’s life – his human side – were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times.”
What security will Barron Trump get at New York University?
Barron has benefitted from Secret Service protection since he left the White House. During his time at Oxbridge Academy, the Secret Service was said to have followed him wherever he went, and he attended his classes under a different name. Agents followed him around campus, stood outside the classroom door, and even escorted him to the bathroom.
Barron was reportedly registered under Jack in school records and computers, the better to protect his data and grades from possible hackers. The teenager didn’t participate in sports and ate meals separate from his peers.
It should go without saying that the 18-year-old will continue to have Secret Service agents around him as he studies at New York University. The federal law enforcement agency previously confirmed that Barron will receive protection, but it didn’t specify exactly how.
Meanwhile, US Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi told Newsweek: “The President-elect has been receiving heightened Secret Service protection, and this level of security will be maintained moving forward.”
“While we cannot share specific details to ensure the integrity of our operations, family members and executive staff of the President-elect may also be afforded protection in accordance with federal law.”
Barron is considered a “soft target”
Guglielmi concluded: “Enhanced security measures around Palm Beach County, Florida, and New York City are also being coordinated. The Secret Service is committed to working with local partners in these cities to keep the community informed about any potential impacts to the public.”
Due to his studies, Barron will not live at the White House as he did during his father’s last presidential term. He will most likely continue living at Trump Tower, but whether Melania will be at his side is still to be determined.
So, what kind of protection is Barron Trump getting? Speaking with Newsweek, Paul Eckloff, a former Secret Service agent who worked with George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump, as well as their families, told Newsweek that a president’s child is considered a “soft target,” as per a law enforcement and military term.
That means “they are perceived to be less protected, which makes them vulnerable but also creates a dangerous environment for those around them.” Eckloff said that it could mean that Barron could be “sitting in a student union – just as a hypothetical — and he may look alone, but he will not be alone. You will see [Secret Service agents] dressed as best as possible like students.”
Although Barron hasn’t been seen at his father’s side during the campaign, he reportedly played a critical role that could have won his father the election.
How Barron Trump helped his father win the presidential election
Speaking with the Daily Mail, Donald Trump revealed that Barron helped him connect with Gen Z voters through influences and podcasters.
“He is — he knows so much about it. Adin Ross — you know, I mean I do — some people that I wasn’t so familiar with. Different generation. He knows every one of them. And we’ve had tremendous success, as you know,” Trump told the UK news outlet in early September.
“We did three unusual — and I don’t know what you’d call them but it’s a platform — with three people that I don’t know, but three people that Barron knows very well,” Trump said. “[He] actually calls all of them like friends of his because it’s a different generation.”
Trump continued: “They don’t grow up watching television the same way as we did. They grow up looking at the internet or watching a computer. But Barron knew them.”

Barron Trump reveals his political stance to friends
It should come as no great shock that the Trump family have dominated headlines for the past week or so following Donald Trump’s re-election to arguably the most powerful seat on the planet.
Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly, depending on your political stance), Trump claimed victory in convincing fashion and will now helm another four years of US politics from the Oval Office.
But it wasn’t just the former-and-future President standing in the spotlight as it became clear the Republicans had won the 2024 election. Trump was joined by wife Melania and the couple’s son, Barron, on stage for his victory speech in Florida, and their presence certainly got people talking.
Melania and Barron
Both Melania and Barron largely stayed in the shadows during this most recent election campaign; the latter because he’s now studying in New York; the former because she’s… well, apparently in New York to support him.
Melania, readers will remember, was a steadfast and ever-present figure during Trump’s previous election campaigns, but Barron, 18, is just now beginning to be exposed to the peripheral glow of the searing spotlight inevitably focused on his famous father.
Indeed, much was written about Trump’s youngest son last week after his appearance alongside his dad following the confirmation of Donald’s successful bid to become only the second person in US history to serve two non-consecutive terms as president.
One image of Barron casting his vote for the first time ever went viral online, with the prospect of the teenager running for presidency himself in the future (when he’s legally old enough to do so) being bandied around.
That Barron would follow his father’s lead in all things political is the obvious prediction, but reports state that the 18-year-old has remained coy when quizzed on his beliefs and who he voted for by his New York university friends.
Barron Trump’s political views
According to the US Mirror, close pals of Barron at NYU’s Stern School of Business have been keen to draw him into political debates, but it’s no dice as far as the future POTUS’s youngest son is concerned, as he replies that he “doesn’t support any party”.
Difficult as that may be to believe, Barron’s ‘neutral’ position is said to have impressed a number of Republican officials, some of whom are backing the idea that he may one day look to run for the White House’s top seat himself (Barron would be eligible in 2044).
What’s more, it’s been reported that Barron had an active role in advising his father regarding what podcasts and shows he should appear on to further his message during the latter stages of his election campaign.
“Barron has been very involved in selecting or recommending, I should say, a number of the podcasts that we should do,” Jason Miller, senior adviser to Trump, told Politico’s Playbook Deep Dive podcast in late October.
“I got to tell you, hats off to the young man. Every single recommendation he’s had has turned out to be absolute ratings gold that’s broken the internet. He’s done a great job.”
Earlier in 2024, Donald himself revealed that Barron likes to aid with his campaign more broadly. “He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do’,” Trump explained.

Fans claims Barron Trump is a future president after seeing latest picture of him
Donald Trump is officially returning to the White House. The former president is set to return to the Oval Office for his second term, having defeated Kamala Harris in the presidential election. This time, though, he won’t have as many family members around at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, as his youngest son, Barron, is studying in New York.
The 18-year-old son of the former and future president – we know, weird to read – has lived quite an extraordinary life, helped in no small part because his father is rich and famous. Barron has largely been kept outside of the spotlight by his mother, Melania, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll opt to follow his father into the world of politics.
When Donald Trump met his voters late Tuesday night, Barron Trump was there alongside his family. As has become standard, his height became quite a talking point – earlier that same day, he voted for the first time. Melania posted a picture of her son in the voting booth, and it appears that Trump fans have already decided on his future.
Barron Trump spent his early days living at Trump Tower in Manhattan. He was said to have had an entire floor to himself, and shortly after he was born, Melania revealed that said floor was fully equipped with a kitchen, a living room, and even housing for the maids. Moreover, she divulged that she’d given him nickname at a very young age, calling him “Little Donald” based on his personality.
“He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants. Sometimes I call him ‘Little Donald,’” Melania explained.
Barron Trump – life at the White House
The youngest son of Donald Trump, Barron’s life changed forever when his father won the 2016 presidential election. After finishing school in “The Big Apple,” he and his mother headed for the White House. Barron became the first boy to reside in the White House since JFK Jr.
Barron attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, a private school about 30 minutes away from the White House. Before he moved to Washington from New York, it was apparent that he and his friends at school were excited to spend time in the White House together. According to the Confidential, Barron was excited to invite his friends and have sleepovers there.
“Barron has been asking some of his school friends to come visit him in the White House,” the report stated. “He has said to his parents, ‘I hope there are bedrooms for my friends to come visit.’”
“Kids at his school are already planning sleepovers,” a source told the NY Daily News, referring to the Upper West Side’s Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School.
Barron brought classmates to visit the White House and meet Donald Trump
As reported by PageSix, in May 2017 Barron took his classmates on a trip to Washington to visit the White House. According to the new outlet, around 80 children from Barron’s school joined the trip.
Usually, when classes visit the White House for a tour, they probably get a guide and see some of the hallways, and if they’re lucky, they might see someone from the White House staff. Of course, when Barron was in charge, it turned into a more intimate tour of his home.
“All the kids got dressed up,” a source told Page Six. “The girls were in dresses, and the boys wore khaki pants and button-downs. It was so cute.”
The children were accompanied by their teachers and Secret Service agents to the White House. They also toured DC and stayed at a hotel overnight before returning to New York. The highlight for the student was, without doubt, meeting the president himself.
“They had a buffet lunch and a tour of the White House and met the president and the first lady, Melania Trump. President Trump gave them all a rousing speech about living up to your potential and being the best you could be for your country. Barron was really sweet. He was so excited to show his classmates around the White House,” the source continued.
New details about Barron Trump’s high school life revealed
During Donald’s presidency, Barron wasn’t seen publicly. He was mainly spotted traveling with his parents, boarding and leaving Air Force One or his father’s helicopter.
Throughout their time in the White House, Melania clearly wanted to protect her son from scrutiny, especially since being the president’s son brings about many challenges. Their mother-son bond has always been powerful, and after they left the White House, the family moved to their Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
Barron Trump enrolled at the wealthy private school Oxbridge Academy. Once there, information about Barron and how he was doing was even harder to come by. The school, Donald and Melania, and the Secret Service did all they could to shield Barron from the press and scrutiny. Just months ago, though, the Daily Mail revealed new details about the president’s life at Oxbridge Academy.
The Secret Service are said to have followed him wherever he went, and he attended his classes under a different name. Agents followed him around campus, stood outside the classroom door, and even escorted him to the bathroom.
Barron was reportedly registered under Jack in school records and computers, to protect his data and grades from possible hackers. The teenager didn’t participate in sports and had meals separate from his peers.
“It was a bit of a shame…”
Speaking with the Daily Mail, a former student said it was a “shame” that Barron didn’t get to enjoy high school like the rest of the students.
“Barron was very funny and sociable. He would start the most random conversations and could be very entertaining,” the friend told the Daily Mail.
“He was also very mysterious. He never attended football games or dances. I don’t think he met up with anyone outside of school or went on dates. If he had a girlfriend, it was top secret we never knew about it.”
The friend concluded: “I’m sure he had fun in his own way but it was a bit of a shame that he didn’t get to have a normal high school life like everyone else.”
Barron Trump graduated from Oxbridge Academy on May 17, and his parents were in attendance as he walked up on stage to accept his diploma. Before it had been confirmed that he would enroll at New York University, his father, Donald, decided to speak about his youngest son. The former president updated the world on Barron, stating that the teenager had done excellent at Oxbridge.
“He’s amazing actually, in a certain way,” Trump said on Fox & Friends Weekend Sunday. “He’s tall, good-looking…a very good student. And he’s applied to colleges and gets into everywhere he goes. He’s very sought after from a standpoint. He’s a very smart guy. He’s a very tall guy. And he’s a great kid. He’s cool, he’s pretty cool, I’ll tell ya.”
Author claims Donald Trump is “jealous” of Barron’s height
Donald has spoken about his son many times during Barron’s upbringing, while the public has been fascinated by his height. According to Donald, there is a reason for this.
In his Iowa caucuses victory speech, Trump spoke about his now late mother-in-law, Amalija Knavs, who sadly passed away in January. He explained that her food was behind Barron’s height.
“Great people, great parents to all of us, really. Great parents, but also to Barron. Boy, did she take care of Barron,” Donald said. “That’s how he got so tall, he only ate her food.”
At the same time, it has been reported that Donald doesn’t like that his son is taller than him. In his book, Siege: Trump Under Fire, Wolff claims that Trump has a strained relationship with Barron, and that he is also resentful of his height.
Sadly, Wolff suggests that Donald is so insecure about Barron being taller than him that it has made him refuse to be pictured next to his son. Appearing on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, Wolff said Donald is jealous of everyone’s height.
“He never lets himself be in a photograph with someone taller than he is. Height is one of his techniques. He uses his height — and, remember, Donald Trump is a very large man.”
Barron Trump gave his father advice during presidential campaign
When Donald moves into the White House this time around, Barron will remain in New York studying. It has also been reported that Melania will most likely not use the White House as her primary residence, as she wants to be close to Barron.
Like his mother, Barron was not involved in his father’s presidential campaign. Even so, it appears that he might have helped his father win the election. Speaking with 60 Minutes at the end of his campaign, Donald revealed that Barron had given him advice.
“Ivanka called me a little while ago she sends her love to everybody. She’s terrific,” Trump said.
“‘And I have a guy who’s home with the first lady. He’s very smart … He’s 18 years old. And he gives me good advice. ‘Dad: take it easy, now. You just take it easy dad, alright? You don’t have to go too much here. He gives me good – he’s very wise,” he added.
Trump fans says Barron Trump is a future president
This election was not only special as Barron once again got to see his father run for president, but it also marked the first time he was able to vote. Melania celebrated that her 18-year-old son cast his vote for the first time by posting a picture of him from behind at the voting booth.
“Voted for the first time – for his dad!” Melania wrote on X.
Fans quickly sent their best regards to Barron, and some even predicted his future – as president.
“That suit. The lines. Flawless. What a sharp young man!” one user wrote.
“I smell a Trump political dynasty,” another stated.
“Future President!” a third user wrote, with another replying, “2044,” as in the year he would become President of the United States.
Another user simply stated, “The future President.”
“Looking forward to voting for Barron one day!” another Trump fan wrote.
