A pampered husky named Jasper has melted viewers’ hearts on TikTok after a clip of him napping like a human on a couch went viral.
His owner, Emilee Setting, told Newsweek that while the video captured a humorous moment, it also reflected their deep bond forged through years of travel and adventure. The short video, shared to Setting’s TikTok account @emileesetting on December 5, has garnered more than 1.8 million views and over 432,000 likes to date.
In the footage, Jasper is seen lying on his side with his head on a pillow, tucked under a blanket—a stark contrast to the breed’s reputation for toughness and endurance in extreme outdoor conditions.
An overlaid text on the video read: “He simply wouldn’t make it in the wild.”
While a caption added: “Survival rate 0 percent.”
The juxtaposition of Jasper’s cozy lounging with the typical image of a rugged, snowplowing husky sparked amused reactions among viewers. Thousands of comments flooded in, many noting how relatable and endearing the moment felt.
Setting, a photographer who specializes in elopements, said that Jasper has been her companion since their days living out of a van in Alaska. The pair now spends most of their time in Oregon.
“Potty training a puppy whilst doing van life was as unfun as it sounds,” she said. “However, he made the experience so much better, outside of chasing bears.
“Since then, he’s moved all over the country with me until we finally found our home.”
Though the video shows a domesticated dog at peak comfort, Jasper’s life has been filled with outdoor experiences. As Setting’s career in photography evolved, so did Jasper’s role as her frequent travel partner.
“We get to be in beautiful parts of the world together regularly,” she said. “I bring him with me every opportunity I can and opt to drive over flying if it means he can be with me.”

That long-standing companionship is what made the viral moment resonate with so many. Setting has often photographed Jasper on hikes, capturing him in the wild—and now, in a comedic contrast, lazing around at home.
“He’s the best friend I’ve got,” she said, “and it seems like he was able to put on a lot of smiles in that post.”
The viral moment has not only entertained TikTok users but also showcased a softer side of dogs known for pulling sleds and thriving in harsh conditions. The clip encouraged several users to share images of their own huskies, lounging at home or being treated at the vets, to highlight the gentler part of this breed’s temperament.
