The comedian was seen slumped over a set of stairs outside a building in Hollywood as friends attempted to help him, according to photos obtained by TMZ on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Dick reportedly spoke to TMZ, telling the outlet he was alive and okay, though he did not elaborate on the incident.
The actor’s reps did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Dick, who has three adult children, sons Lucas, 37, and Jacob, 31, and daughter Meg, 28, has struggled with alcohol and drug addiction in the past, and has had previous arrests.
He was arrested in June 2021 on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a representative for the LAPD confirmed to PEOPLE at the time. He was later released on $50,000 bail.
Dick’s former fiancée, Elisa Jordana, discussed the situation during a live broadcast at the time on her Kermit and Friends YouTube show, saying, “It was just the worst week with him. It was getting worse and worse and worse, and just every day there was some kind of problem. And there were signs that this was gonna happen.”

Jordana — who split from Dick one month after the incident in July 2021 — added that she “felt relieved” the comedian was in jail because she thinks “a lot of the people that are around Andy are more dangerous than people in jail.”
She went on to allege that Dick was in “rare form” while they went out to dinner that weekend, stealing cutlery, wine glasses, plates and asked for “a doggy bag that he could put all of that in” to go. Jordana claimed in the live stream that Dick got “into a fight with [another person]” and there was a metal chair involved, adding that the person was hospitalized after. Referencing the alleged fight, she said, “He could have killed him.”
“I knew that night wasn’t gonna end well,” Jordana added.
In 2017, Dick was fired from a movie over sexual harassment claims. At the time, he addressed the claims to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I didn’t grope anybody. I might have kissed somebody on the cheek to say goodbye and then licked them. That’s my thing.”
He denied that he intended to commit sexual harassment.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are a “committed team” amid Smith’s former friend’s $3 million lawsuit against the actress, an entertainment source tells PEOPLE.
In a lawsuit filed by Bilaal Salaam on Monday, Dec. 1, and obtained by PEOPLE, Salaam alleged that Pinkett Smith threatened him in a hotel lobby in 2021 “by stating that if he continued ‘telling her personal business,'” he would “‘end up missing or catch a bullet.'”
The source tells PEOPLE that amid the allegations, Smith and Pinkett Smith’s relationship “is still good. They spend time together and time apart.”
The insider adds that Smith, 57, and Pinkett Smith, 54, “have deep respect for each other and work together as well as sharing a family life.”
The King Richard actor and Matrix star each have projects they are working on, the source notes; however, “they are a committed team in their own way. They have put many years into this.”

In his filing, Salaam alleged that on Sept. 25, 2021, Pinkett Smith and “seven members of her entourage” confronted him in the lobby of the Regency Calabasas Commons, where Smith was having a private birthday celebration.
She allegedly threatened him and “demanded” he sign a nondisclosure agreement before following Salaam to his car “while continuing to issue verbal threats,” the lawsuit claimed.
Salaam also alleged that he was the target of a “retaliatory campaign” after he made “viral” claims in an interview.
In 2023, Salaam claimed on Unwine With Tasha K that he walked in on Smith engaging in a sexual act with actor Duane Martin. Pinkett Smith later called the allegation “nonsense” in a subsequent interview with The Breakfast Club.
The couple see Salaam’s lawsuit “as a money ploy to get what they can out of them,” an entertainment source told PEOPLE, calling him “an opportunistic person out to exploit them.”
Pinkett Smith and Smith married in 1997, and in 2023 she announced that the two had been living separatee lives for seven years. They share son Jaden, 27, and daughter Willow, 25. Smith is also father to son Trey, 33, whom he shares with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino.
