“His smile didn’t meet his eyes”.
He’s spent nearly two decades with one of Hollywood’s biggest stars on his arm. Now, Keith Urban is learning what it means to stand in the spotlight alone – and it’s not exactly a smooth landing.
In one of his first major public outings since his split from Nicole Kidman was formalised, the 58-year-old Aussie country icon braved the red carpet at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards in Las Vegas last week without his former other half in tow. And if the cameras caught anything, it was a man still finding his footing.
“It was pretty obvious Keith was nervous about flying solo,” an insider tells Woman’s Day. “He knew he was going to be facing off the press for the first time since the divorce and he didn’t look comfortable at all. He looked anxious and almost shy, but his smile didn’t meet his eyes this time – it’s clear he was a little lost without his former ‘other half’.”
The contrast with his ex couldn’t be more glaring. While Nicole, 58, has been practically glowing at every event she’s graced since the split, Keith’s red carpet energy told a very different story.
Fans watching a clip of his arrival online were quick to pick up on the shift, with comments ranging from “looks gorgeous however also anxious” to “lost without his ex and daughters.” Several noted he simply looked sad.

“With Nicole, she was always the star and he didn’t have to do much except smile and not trip over anything,” the insider explains. “Now he’s the centre of attention and it’s nerve-wracking. It’s times like these he misses having a red-carpet queen by his side – but there’s no going back for Keith.”
Adding another layer to his unease is the reported distance between him and the couple’s two daughters – Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15.
The pair, who wed in 2006 and called time on their 19-year marriage in September 2025, settled their split in early 2026, with custody arrangements in place. But sources suggest the girls are currently living with their mother, and the father-daughter relationships have hit rocky ground.
Things became undeniably public last month when Sunday unfollowed her father on social media, though she later refollowed him.

The rift is clearly weighing on him – and our insider says it’s this, more than anything, that’s driving a rare stubbornness in the usually easy-going star.
“He’s heartbroken over the distance from his girls, and until that’s patched up, he’s more than happy to take up the red carpet spotlight,” the source says. “He’s certainly trying to step out from Nicole’s shadow and is going for a new, more youthful, casual look than the suits and ties she apparently favoured. While the fashionista jury’s still out, he knew he’d be nervous and wanted to be as comfortable as possible.”

Nicole Kidman rediscovering life after Keith Urban divorce
The post-divorce future for the star and her girls is looking practically magical

Not so long ago, Nicole Kidman could barely speak about the pain of her divorce from Keith Urban – the man she once described as “the best thing that’s ever happened to me”. But times, they are a-changing.
It’s now been four months since she added her famous signature to their divorce settlement and the Babygirl actress is doing much better.
“I’m in a place of saying, ‘2026 – here we go!’” laughs Nicole, who confesses she was “quiet” last year.
“I had other things going on… I was in my shell.”
Now, says the Oscar winner, she’s on the road to recovery “because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family, and keeping them as is and moving forward.
“I’m staying in a place of ‘We are a family’, and that’s what we’ll continue to be… My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
Aside from her obvious commitment to the daughters she shares with Keith – Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith, 15 – Nicole, 58, has plans galore stacking up this year. Her new crime show, Scarpetta, recently launched on Prime Video, and she soon begins shooting the third season of the spy thriller Lioness and the horror movie The Young People.

A new chapter of adventure
It fits perfectly with her self-description as a “worker bee”, but despite her many commitments, there’s something else Nicole is excited about – taking time out to travel the globe.
“This year and my next few years are for the adventures,” she says.
“I’m at a certain time in my life. I’m going to do the things I’ve always dreamed of doing that are not anything to do with work. Just exploration.”
Antarctica on the itinerary
Last year, it was Antarctica.
“I took my sister, nieces, nephews and loads of friends on a cruise. We met so many good people. We saw penguins and sea lions…”
And next up, “We’re going to head to the Galápagos, then hike Machu Picchu.”
A return to filmmaking
Chances are, any other adventures Nicole has planned for the coming year won’t be happening in the lead-up to the September release of the much-awaited Practical Magic 2. The actress, who also shares daughter Isabella, 32, and son Connor, 30, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, 63, says she loved filming the sequel to the 1998 hit about sister witches Gillian and Sally Owens – and a lot of the enjoyment had to do with co-star and close pal Sandra Bullock, 61.
In addition to starring in it, the pair also co-produced the movie.
“I love Sandy,” Nicole enthuses.
“And we’re so different. I’m like [she makes a funny noise], and she’s so measured and together. We’re like sisters. I have so much protection and love for her.
“We also have incredible chemistry. We produce totally differently. She’s incredibly hands-on and I love delegating.”

A private life kept off-limits
One topic that’s off-limits for Nicole is her post-divorce love life. Rumours have swirled about her close connection to fellow Aussie actor – and Scarpetta co-star – Simon Baker, 56. The pair, who play husband and wife in the series based on the popular Patricia Cornwell novels, held hands at the show’s New York premiere in March, and Nicole told reporters their chemistry “just vibrates”.
A source says the pair’s connection “clearly wasn’t faked. At the after-party, they stayed close all night.”
Another insider, however, points out that Nicole has been close friends with both Simon and his ex- wife, Rebecca Rigg, 58, for decades, and that romance was unlikely. Since well before Nicole filed for divorce from 58-year-old Kiwi country crooner Keith, citing “irreconcilable differences”, the star has remained in the mansion they bought two years after their 2006 wedding in Sydney.
Keith, meanwhile, has moved into a new farmhouse that serves as a “bachelor pad”, complete with a state-of-the-art recording studio.
A quiet new chapter in Tennessee
Nicole’s move to “simple, quiet and nourishing” Tennessee all those years ago turned out to be exactly what she didn’t know she needed, and she’s not in the least bit tempted to move back to the intensity of Los Angeles.
“We have our life here,” she says of herself and her teenage daughters.
“I’m part of the city and community for 20 years. It’s my home.”
Besides, if she fancies some Hollywood glamour, she only has to wander across the road to connect with close pal Reese Witherspoon. The two women were both executive producers of the hit TV show Big Little Lies and also led the ensemble cast.
“We live opposite each other. Isn’t that weird?”
she smiles. “That’s why Big Little Lies exists.”

Keith Urban Reportedly ‘Distraught’ His ‘Angry’ Daughters Have Cut Him Off as They ‘Blame’ Their Dad for Nicole Kidman Divorce
There are always sides in a divorce, even if the two people involved would prefer to think there’s not. And when there are kids, they almost always pick a side. That’s life. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s divorce was reportedly his idea, so it’s no surprise that their two daughters seemed to have picked their mom’s side. But it seems like Urban is taking reality very, very hard.
RadarOnline is reporting that Urban is “distraught” by the fact that his two daughters consider him the bad guy and are now shutting him out. This comes after rumors about his breakup with Kidman indicated she wanted to work on the marriage, and he did not. Plus, there’s also the fact that his musician lifestyle has meant she has been the one taking care of both their daughters for most of their lives.
The outlet claims that Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, are fully on their mom’s side, and Urban isn’t pleased. “[The girls] are completely team Nicole and right now Keith is the bad guy,” a source said. “He is the cause of every problem in their minds, and it’s harrowing for him.
“He’s really distraught … He loves those girls, but they are so angry at him and they’re blaming him,” the source also said. And worst of all, it doesn’t even seem to be Kidman’s doing according to reports. “I don’t even think this is Nicole painting a narrative – this is the girls coming to this conclusion on their own,” an insider explained.
On April 27, the situation seemed to hit a breaking point asl Sunday unfollowed her dad on social media. She followed him back again within 24 hours. But that doesn’t mean things are good. “He was texting [his daughters] before and getting one- or two-word answers, if he got anything at all. Now nothing,” sources say.
Kidman and Urban filed for divorce in September 2025, with the case finalized in January. Kidman got custody of their daughters, with the agreement stating the girls will stay with her 306 days a year, and spend 59 days with their dad. That means every other weekend.
Rumors have swirled about Urban moving on from Kidman and perhaps even cheating on her with several women, but Urban has denied all allegations. It is, however, hard to deny that things with his daughters are not great. “Keith’s tour has kept him apart from the girls for more than he would like,” a source explained.
“According to their divorce agreement, he only has Sunday Rose and Faith every other weekend, but when he’s touring even that doesn’t work.” So, it’s really no wonder the relationship has deteriorated. Both Sunday and Faith are still living with their mom at their home in Nashville, and the two were seen spending the holidays last year alongside their mother and her family in her native Australia.
The source indicates it has all been very difficult for Urban, who doesn’t know how to win his daughters back. “Obviously, Keith is not a perfect man – nobody is. But whatever his issues between him and Nicole are, he still loves his daughters very much,” the source said. “For them to cut him out is really hurtful.”
