Will Prince William’s core values force him to break strict royal tradition?
Prince William has indicated that he has many changes to make once he is King but there are many royal traditions that he has to uphold to the continuation of the monarchy, and some of those could be harder to keep.
King Charles’s heir, set to embark on an important mission at the behest of the UK government next week, was sent a heartbreaking letter urging him for action.
The Prince of Wales will be arriving in Saudi Arabia on Monday for a three-day visit to highlight diplomatic and trade links. As he had been preparing for the trip, families of the two young men, who were arrested for their activities as children, have now turned to the future King for action.
Yousef al-Manav alleged to have attended protests between the ages of 15 and 17 and Jawad Qureiri did so when he was 13.

“We write to you as the families of Yousef Al-Manasif and Jawad Al-Qureiris, two young men in Saudi Arabia who now face the imminent risk of execution, despite having been children at the time of the alleged events,’ the letter began.
“Our sons were arrested and convicted of offences related to attending protests, many of which occurred before they turned eighteen. Since then, they have spent long years behind prison walls, deprived of their freedom and a normal life with their families. They grew up in prison, while their youth slowly slipped away.”
The families said that they live with “constant and unbearable fear” that their sons could be executed “at any moment, without warning, without our ability to protect them, or even to say goodbye”.
They pleaded to William because of his work and commitment to children’s rights. They noted that the visit is a part of the “historic relationship” the two countries share but they “hope” that his efforts could help them during this difficult time.
“Our sons have already suffered enough, and all we ask is that you help to protect their lives, allowing us to hold them, without the constant fear of losing them at any moment. We ask for nothing more than their right to live.”

They urged William to raise the two names and “call for their protection and for a halt to any execution plans against them”.
According to strict royal rules, members of the family, working or non-working, are not allowed to speak on political matters in the country or globally. They are merely diplomatic figures who stay away from controversial matters.
However, this is matter concerning children and their rights. And William, who is doting father of three children with Princess Kate, could be compelled to make some kind of statement for the two individuals at the risk of an execution.
Prince William closes every door on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Fergie
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Sarah Ferguson left Prince William ‘beyond disgusted’.

Prince William has put an end to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson’s chances of returning to the royal family.
Following the ex-couple’s shameful conversations with Jeffrey Epstein, the future King left “beyond disgusted,” which means that the doors of the Palace have been permanently closed on them.
Discussing the current scenario, royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News, “This new revelation most certainly seals the end of any likelihood of any royal acceptance of either Sarah or Andrew.”
The former Duke and Duchess of York “are totally unfit for any royal proximity.”
After her offer of marriage to Epstein and discussing Eugenie’s intimate life, “Sarah can’t ever claim she was naïve, detached or unaware of reputational risk, it totally sinks her,” Hilary said.

The royal commentator shared that Fergie’s emails to Epstein showcased the “shockingly intimate” familiarity with the paedophile.
Hilary further shared that Sarah’s conversations with the controversial financier hinted that she had no “good taste, morals or judgment…”
As of now, Sarah Ferguson has not released an official statement regarding her daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, following the emergence of details related to them in Epstein’s files.

NEED TO KNOW
- Prince Harry named Prince William and Kate Middleton in a witness statement filed as part of his High Court lawsuit against the publisher of the Daily Mail
- The list was included to outline people Harry says he was in regular contact with between about 1996 and 2014, supporting his claim that private information could only have been obtained unlawfully
- Harry remains estranged from his brother, Prince William, with no plans to see either William or his father, King Charles, during his current visit to the U.K. for the trial
Prince Harry named his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, in a witness statement filed as part of his lawsuit against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday.
The Duke of Sussex’s witness statement was released on Jan. 21, the same day he took the stand to give evidence at London’s High Court. Harry, 41, is one of several high-profile individuals accusing the newspaper group of unlawful information gathering — allegations the publisher denies.
The list was included as part of Harry’s legal argument to outline the circle of people he says he was in “regular contact” with during the period covered by his claim, which runs from about 1996 to at least 2014. Harry alleges that private details appearing in press coverage could only have come from unlawfully obtained information shared within trusted relationships.
PEOPLE was inside the courtroom, and according to the witness statement, Harry named 10 associates he said he was in regular contact with during the relevant period, including Prince William, Princess Kate, his father King Charles, and former girlfriend Chelsy Davy.
Harry’s description of William focused on their closeness at the time, underscoring the level of trust he says existed between them during those years.
“HRH The Prince of Wales, my brother William,” the statement read. “Due to his position, the press have always been very interested in him. As brothers, we naturally discussed personal aspects of our lives as we trusted each other with the highly sensitive information we shared about our private, family and professional lives.”

The inclusion of William comes amid a well-documented, years-long rift between the brothers. During Harry’s current visit to the U.K. for the trial, sources have confirmed there were no plans for him to see William, and tensions between them remain unresolved.
King Charles, 77, was listed next in the statement, with Harry similarly pointing to the intense media interest surrounding his father because of his royal role.
“HM King Charles III, my father,” the statement said. “During the Relevant Period, my father and I were in regular contact. He was also of great interest to the press due to his position. My private information would have been present on voicemails, containing highly personal, private and sensitive information, left on his landline phone by me, other members of my family and the Royal Household.”
Despite being in the U.K. at the same time, Harry also had no plans to meet with his father during this trip, which comes several months after their long-awaited reunion in London in September.

Chelsy Davy, whom Harry dated on and off from 2004 to around 2010, was also included in the list. In the statement, Harry detailed the long-distance nature of their relationship and the private communications they shared.
“Chelsy Davy, a former girlfriend. We met in about early 2004 and were in a relationship which continued, on and off, until around mid-2010. Our relationship was long distance for the majority of the time we were together, with Chelsy and I often living in different countries,” the entry read.
“We, naturally, spoke about all types of personal matters, including all aspects of our relationship and this was often through calls, texts and voicemails left on her mobile and landline phone in South Africa,” the statement continued. “As she was my girlfriend, I trusted Chelsy with the most private of information and vice versa. I know that [private investigator] Gavin Burrows admitted doing lots of unlawful activities in respect of her which is deeply troubling but explains how Associated got so much information about us (often before others).”

Princess Kate, 44, appeared ninth on the list and was mentioned only briefly. Her entry was the shortest in the statement and included no elaboration.
“HRH The Princess of Wales, my brother’s wife,” the statement said.
Other figures named in the witness statement included former royal equerry Mark Dyer, Harry’s former private secretary Helen Asprey, and Tiggy Legge-Bourke, who served as a nanny to William and Harry during their childhood.

Elsewhere in the filing, Harry said that as a “member of the Institution” — referring to the British royal family — he felt bound by its long-standing approach of “never complain, never explain” when it came to media coverage.
“There was no alternative; I was conditioned to accept it,” he said.
EXCLUSIVE: Prince Harry ‘forcing King to choose between him and William’ with impossible decision
It has been claimed that Prince Harry “desperately wants” his father King Charles to join him at the Invictus Games next year – but one royal expert predicts it could pose a huge problem

When Prince Harry made a brief-but-welcome return to the UK last September, few could have predicted the significance that visit might come to hold. But it now seems his private meeting with King Charles at Clarence House reopened a door many feared had closed for good, raising hopes that father and son could be heading for a reconciliation.
Following reports that will bring joy to millions of royal watchers, it is believed Harry is now set to ask the King to play a key role at next year’s Invictus Games, which will take place in the UK for the first time since 2014. Last week royal sources claimed Harry “desperately wants Charles at Invictus”, ideally opening the event on stage alongside him.

There is no doubt an appearance by Charles – alongside his son – would delight royal fans and shine an even brighter light on the heartfelt occasion, which honours wounded military personnel and veterans.
And while the focus might be firmly on Harry and his relationship with his father, the prospect of the Invictus Games returning to the UK also raises the question of whether his wife, Meghan, might be at his side. The duchess has previously supported Harry at Invictus events and, BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror, she would not want to be seen to snub a cause so close to her husband’s heart.
“Meghan is a savvy woman,” said Jennie. “She must know that she’s likely to encounter a degree of hostility in the UK, but in the bubble of the Invictus Games she is safe.
“They love her, so perhaps that’s a reason she would come – to support Harry as she always has at Invictus. To stay away would inevitably become as newsworthy as her presence. The headlines would scream: “Proof, if it were needed – Meghan can’t stand the UK!”
Meghan and Harry sensationally quit royal life six years ago and are now based in Montecito, California, along with their two children, Archie, six, and Lilibet, four. But following his September summit at Clarence House, the prince left the UK with a palpable spring in his step, with a spokesman later saying he had “loved” being back in his birth country.
His chat with Charles was certainly a more positive experience than the previous time the pair met, which came after Harry flew to London in February 2024 following the King’s cancer diagnosis.
It also gave hope that Harry is now considering further visits – a prospect which, less than 12 months ago, seemed increasingly less likely after he lost his High Court battle to have his taxpayer-funded police protection reinstated.
The Duke of Sussex had been hoping to overturn a decision to downgrade his security while in the UK, which came into play after he stepped down as a working royal. Following the decision, Harry publicly blamed his father for “this security stuff” and said he “can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK”.
But he is currently waiting for a Home Office review of the ruling and Jennie believes this could be key in helping determine whether or not future trips to the UK are deemed worthwhile for the Sussexes. It could also spark a long-overdue reunion for the King and his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, who he hasn’t seen since they attended the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.
“If the security review results in the protection level Harry is demanding, there will be no obvious reason to prevent them coming over as a family,” said Jennie. “And I’m sure King Charles would relish the chance to get to know his grandchildren.”
What is far less clear is whether Prince William – whose relationship with Harry has previously been described as beyond repair – would be on board with any Invictus-based reunions.
The Prince of Wales attended the inaugural games alongside his wife, Princess Catherine, in 2014, but is not believed to have spoken with his younger brother since their grandmother’s funeral in September 2022. The pair fell out spectacularly after Harry released his memoir, Spare, three years ago, in which he criticised Kate and detailed bitter rows with his brother in lurid detail.
Jennie said that supporting Harry therefore presents Charles with a dilemma, as he will be reluctant to be seen to be siding with one son over the other.
She explained: “Invictus has become pivotal. It is Harry’s great cause and his greatest achievement and any father would want to support his son as the games come to the UK. But it’s not straightforward for the King – sadly for him, his family matters never are.
“It could become a classic case of a father having to choose between his warring sons. We can only imagine how William might feel if Charles publicly threw his support behind the games and Harry.
“William has bitten his lip, risen above the accusations and knuckled down to the job, in spite of the brutal cancer diagnoses for both Catherine and Charles. To see his father stand on a very public platform and salute Harry’s achievement would be tough. But that’s the dilemma the King might face.”
Nonetheless, organisers of the Games, which have since taken place in the US, Canada, Australia, Netherlands and Germany, have hinted they expect a healthy turnout of senior royals. Last week a spokesman said: “The royal family have been longstanding supporters of the Invictus Games since its inception in 2014.
“While it is too early to confirm who will attend in 2027 as invitations have not yet been sent out, organisers of the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 will issue invitations to members of the Royal Family in due course, and we would very much welcome their presence.”
The week-long event will kick off at the city’s NEC on 10 July, ending on Queen Camilla ’s 80th birthday on the 17th. While this presents the King with an awkward scheduling clash, a source said last week that the games’ planning committees are well aware of Camilla’s birthday, but hope Charles would still be able to attend the opening ceremony and various events “while still honouring commitments” to his wife.
The insider added, “Harry is across every detail of what is going on with Invictus. He is buoyed with the thought of opening the games with his father, and there are hopes that other royals will attend.”
Ex-Prince Andrew’s final humiliation: How Prince William, King Charles ejected him from royal home at midnight
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was reportedly spirited out of his longtime home at Royal Lodge in the middle of the night.
According to royal sources for the Daily Mail, the former prince was “dispatched by car to the depths of Norfolk” on Monday amid the ongoing Epstein scandal.
“It was hastily arranged and done under the radar, leaving Royal Lodge staff to pack up what remains of Andrew’s belongings,” an insider told the outlet on Saturday of the move, which reportedly saw Andrew moving to temporary housing on Wood Farm at Sandringham in Norfolk.
A source told the outlet that the decision was made by Prince William and King Charles on Sunday evening following an “urgent discussion” at Sandringham.

Prince William and King Charles made the decision one day prior, the outlet reported on Saturday.
The “Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York” author told us he’s heard that the exiled prince will relocate to Bahrain.
“Waving at the public harked back to his royal days when he was used to adulation and respect,” an insider told the Daily Mail on Saturday.

Buckingham Palace did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Back in October, an announcement was made that “formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease” on Royal Lodge. Andrew was also stripped of the titles of “Duke of York” and “prince” at the time by King Chrarles.
“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” Buckingham Palace told Page Six in a statement at the time.

The statement continued, “These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.”
Andrew’s official move from his longtime home comes following the release of new documents and allegations regarding late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Last week, the DOJ released more than 3 million records on Epstein, who died in prison at the age of 66 in 2019.
Among them are a photo of Andrew crouched over an unidentified woman lying underneath him, an email seemingly confirming the authenticity of a 2001 photo of then 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre with Andrew, and an email containing crude comments by Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, regarding their daughter Eugenie, who was 19 at the time.
The Thames Valley Police are now reportedly assessing allegations of an incident said to have occurred at Mountbatten-Windsor’s former residence back in 2010, though the ex-prince has repeatedly denied allegations of wrongdoing.
Friends told Page Six on Tuesday that Andrew and Ferguson’s daughter Princess Eugenie, 35, is struggling amid the ongoing scandal. “I know that Eugenie feels like she’s being tarnished with a brush that’s not hers, that’s her father’s,” a friend shared with us. “She’s very, very frustrated.”
Meanwhile, sources told the Daily Mail in comments published Saturday that Andrew is “avoiding news reports.”

“He firmly believes he’s done nothing wrong and definitely feels hard done by and too harshly treated,” the source told the outlet.
“Unlike others who have expressed regret for associating with Epstein, he still refuses to do so. Apologising to Epstein’s victims would imply guilt.”
As for Ferugson, whom the outlet reported had been “secretly slipping in and out of Royal Lodge in recent weeks,” author Lownie told the outlet she’s likely to have fled abroad. “When there’s a scandal, she runs away,” he said. “She’s done it repeatedly.”
He added, “He’s no longer useful to her. He’s too toxic. It was fine when she could live at Royal Lodge and co-parent their daughters – all of that was lucrative for her but now that’s all over, she’s cut loose.”
