Alongside the pictures, she wrote, “When we listen to the rhythms of Mother Nature, we remember where we belong.” She signed the post with her first initial, “C.”

The post is linked to her ongoing “Mother Nature” video project, which she and Prince William have been releasing through YouTube since May 2025. The videos are posted quarterly, with one for each season.

Following the post, royal sources told RadarOnline in a report on April 23 that Kate has developed a “deeply personal connection” to nature during her recovery.

“Catherine has leaned fully into spiritual wellness—some might even say she’s gone full white witch in the way she talks about energy, nature, and healing,” one insider said.

Another explained, “After what she’s been through, she’s drawn to rituals of calm, reflection, and connection with the natural world. It’s less about labels and more about survival and peace.”

Kate initially shared the news of her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, and by January 2025, she confirmed she had entered remission. In the first installment of her “Mother Nature” video series, Kate reflected on that time, saying nature had “been my sanctuary” throughout her fight.

Absolutely nothing appears to be off-limits, from her weight to conspiracy theories about her hair, her choice to abstain from alcohol, and even the amount of time she took off from royal duties — and she does not deserve any of it.

When Kate Middleton first revealed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, she made it abundantly clear that she was taking a step back from her royal duties to allow herself to rest and recuperate physically, mentally, and emotionally. “My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery,” she explained in the video message. In August 2025, columnist Liz Jones publicly penned an op-ed for the Daily Mail wherein she berated Kate for her lack of royal engagements — even tallying the princess’ nine engagements up against her husband, Prince William’s, 71; her father-in-law, King Charles’, 233; and even the late Queen Elizabeth’s 201 at the ripe old age of 96. Fortunately, many in the comments section had the princess’ back. “What sort of rotten individual writes a piece like this,” one user penned. Meanwhile, another wrote, “As a fellow cancer patient I feel for Catherine. Cancer sucks the energy right out of you. Give her a break!”

Sadly, not even Kate Middleton’s signature dark locks were off limits. Throughout her entire cancer journey, many accused the Princess of Wales of faking cancer simply because her hair didn’t fall out. “No hair loss? How did she escape that?” one user asked in the comments section of an update Middleton penned on Instagram in June 2024, along with a photo of her standing underneath a tree with her long dark hair on full display. Meanwhile, another had words about her mane while she attended Wimbledon in July 2024. “Don’t be that naïve!!! No one’s hair grows all back in that thick and long after 7 months of chemo and her “wig matched her completely?? Don’t buy it,” the user wrote (via Instagram).

During a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in January 2025, one cancer patient who spoke with Middleton said that the princess did not have to use a cold cap during her treatments. “She just said that she didn’t have to have it,” the patient told People. “For her to lose her hair, which is so iconic, would have been awful. Everyone loves her hair!”

In March 2026, Kate Middleton’s alcohol reveal spurred yet another public fight over her health. It all started when the Prince and Princess of Wales were visiting a brewery as part of a royal engagement. When asked whether she drank beer, Middleton casually mentioned that she was choosing to abstain from alcohol in light of her cancer diagnosis. “Since my diagnosis, I haven’t had much alcohol. It’s something I have to be a lot more conscious of now,” she explained (via YouTube). No harm, no foul, right? WRONG.

Like clockwork, people immediately started piling on, explaining all the reasons why the princess was wrong for publicly uttering such a confession. Top of mind, however, was how her comments might affect the brewery she was visiting. “Why’d she even go to the brewhall? To tell the world they are selling a carcinogenic product? Both initially had operations for noncancerous health issues in early January and, following both the King’s and the Princess of Wales’s respective procedures, cancer was detected. The monarch announced his diagnosis to the world on February 5 of that year, with Kate’s announcement following on March 22.

Through their simultaneous cancer battles, longtime royal photographer Chris Jackson told Page Six that the two found strength in one another. Jackson, the author of the new book Modern Majesty: The British Royal Family in a New Era, told the outlet, “I think you can’t avoid what’s happened with the cancer, with the King and Catherine.”

“I talk a lot about the adversity that the royal family faced over the last few years, and you really couldn’t have made it up, [them] basically having cancer at the same time,” he continued.

Through his work, Jackson said he was able to witness both Charles and Kate return to their royal work stronger than ever. “To see the bounce back has been amazing,” Jackson said. “And that has generated a huge amount of goodwill and positivity.”

The King, for his part, has returned to public duty with an “incredible energy,” Jackson said, noting that he often has back-to-back royal engagements. “I honestly don’t know how he does it because, you know, it does take a lot of stamina.” He described the King as being in “top gear,” despite continuing to receive cancer treatment over two years after his diagnosis.

Kate, for her part, finished chemotherapy treatment in September 2024 and announced in January 2025 that she is in remission. That same day, Jackson was on hand when the Princess of Wales visited the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she received cancer treatment—a visit he called “poignant” and “incredibly emotional.”

“It’s probably one of the most powerful royal visits I’ve done in recent years because of the symbolism of what happened to her and the comeback,” Jackson said. “And obviously she’s back to full speed with royal engagements.”

Charles and Kate’s bond only deepened when both were facing down cancer, royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith previously told People. “He has always had a very good bond with her,” she said. “I don’t think it is presumptuous to say that she is like the daughter he never had. He shares with [Prince] William an impulse to protect her. They are in this together, Kate and the King.”

“Obviously they have this in common and can only bring them closer,” Bedell Smith added. “It is a source of reassurance and consolation for both of them.”

The Princess of Wales further accessorized her look Saturday with a rarely seen tanzanite and diamond pendant from G. “These are pieces that already hold a strong emotional and historical narrative,” he continues. “By choosing them for a day centered on remembrance, she allows that narrative to extend beyond personal legacy into something more collective. The jewelry becomes part of the language of the occasion.”

Rakholia says that “In a setting like this, jewelry cannot feel performative,” and adds, “This is jewelry used with intention. Not to decorate, but to communicate.”

Princess Kate revealed her relationship with alcohol has changed since her cancer diagnosis.

While touring a beer hall with Prince William on March 12, the Princess of Wales, 44, said she’s not much of a drinker.

“Since my diagnosis, drinking alcohol is not really something − it’s just something I have to be a lot more conscious of now,” the royal says in video taken at the event.

Princess Kate revealed in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and would undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy after having abdominal surgery. Her treatment ended in September, and in January 2025, she announced her cancer was in remission.

Alcohol and cancer risk

Drinking alcohol raises your risk of getting several kinds of cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends that adults choose not to drink alcohol or drink it in moderation, meaning two or fewer drinks a day for men and one or fewer drinks a day for women.

“The recommended limit is lower for women because of their smaller body size and because their bodies tend to break down alcohol more slowly,” the American Cancer Society explains.

Alcohol during and after cancer treatment

It’s important to ask your doctor if it’s safe to drink alcohol when taking prescription medicine, including cancer treatment, the CDC adds.

During cancer treatment, alcohol can interact with some drugs and increase the risk of harmful side effects, the American Cancer Society notes.

“For people who have completed cancer treatment, it isn’t clear if alcohol use after treatment might raise the risk of cancer recurrence or a second cancer, but it is possible,” the organization explained.
