Princess Kate marked Earth Day 2026 with a more personal message than usual, sharing a series of sweeping landscape photos on Instagram that reflect her continued focus on nature and wellbeing following her cancer battle. Alongside the pictures, she wrote, “When we listen to the rhythms of Mother Nature, we remember where we belong.” She signed the post with her first initial, “C.”
The post is linked to her ongoing “Mother Nature” video project, which she and Prince William have been releasing through YouTube since May 2025. The videos are posted quarterly, with one for each season.
Following the post, royal sources told RadarOnline in a report on April 23 that Kate has developed a “deeply personal connection” to nature during her recovery.
“Catherine has leaned fully into spiritual wellness—some might even say she’s gone full white witch in the way she talks about energy, nature, and healing,” one insider said.
Another explained, “After what she’s been through, she’s drawn to rituals of calm, reflection, and connection with the natural world. It’s less about labels and more about survival and peace.”

Kate initially shared the news of her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, and by January 2025, she confirmed she had entered remission. In the first installment of her “Mother Nature” video series, Kate reflected on that time, saying nature had “been my sanctuary” throughout her fight.
She spoke about the power of being outdoors, saying, “The natural world’s capacity to inspire us, to nurture us and to help us heal and grow is boundless and has been understood for generations.”
“It is through nature that we can fully understand the true interconnectedness of all things, the importance of balance and the importance of renewal and resilience,” she continued. “Connecting to nature helps us to experience a deep sense of ourselves, the world around us and each other.”
Kate concluded, “Just as nature revives and renews, so too can we. Let us reconnect to nature and celebrate a new dawn within our hearts.”
5 Times Kate Middleton Was Shamed Amid Her Health Struggles — And Did Not Deserve It

Contrary to popular public opinion, it’s not easy being a princess, especially when you’re the Princess of Wales, navigating serious health issues — namely, a cancer diagnosis. From the moment Kensington Palace announced on January 17, 2024, that Kate Middleton had undergone “a planned abdominal surgery,” she has been subjected to a ridiculous amount of intense speculation and scrutiny, sometimes even being downright shamed for the way in which she handled all of it. And sadly, all of that only intensified when she revealed via her Instagram account in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing “a course of preventative chemotherapy.” Many immediately pounced on Kate’s decision to keep her personal health information private — though she even explained at the time that the decision was made in part to protect their three young children. “It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok,” she divulged.
Alas, even the way Kate has handled her post-cancer journey has become tabloid and internet fodder. Absolutely nothing appears to be off-limits, from her weight to conspiracy theories about her hair, her choice to abstain from alcohol, and even the amount of time she took off from royal duties — and she does not deserve any of it.
Kate Middleton was accused of shirking her royal responsibilities

When Kate Middleton first revealed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, she made it abundantly clear that she was taking a step back from her royal duties to allow herself to rest and recuperate physically, mentally, and emotionally. “My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery,” she explained in the video message. And in June 2024, in the midst of her chemotherapy treatments, she carefully noted in an official Instagram post that while she was “making good progress,” there were still “good days and bad days.” She added, “On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.” She also explained that she planned to attend The King’s Birthday Parade that coming weekend. Sadly, however, it still wasn’t too long before many accused her of shirking her royal responsibilities amid her CANCER DIAGNOSIS. (Read that again so you can understand just how crazy that sounds.)
In August 2025, columnist Liz Jones publicly penned an op-ed for the Daily Mail wherein she berated Kate for her lack of royal engagements — even tallying the princess’ nine engagements up against her husband, Prince William’s, 71; her father-in-law, King Charles’, 233; and even the late Queen Elizabeth’s 201 at the ripe old age of 96. Fortunately, many in the comments section had the princess’ back. “What sort of rotten individual writes a piece like this,” one user penned. Meanwhile, another wrote, “As a fellow cancer patient I feel for Catherine. Cancer sucks the energy right out of you. Give her a break!”
People questioned why Kate Middleton’s hair didn’t fall out during chemotherapy

Sadly, not even Kate Middleton’s signature dark locks were off limits. Throughout her entire cancer journey, many accused the Princess of Wales of faking cancer simply because her hair didn’t fall out. “No hair loss? How did she escape that?” one user asked in the comments section of an update Middleton penned on Instagram in June 2024, along with a photo of her standing underneath a tree with her long dark hair on full display. Meanwhile, another had words about her mane while she attended Wimbledon in July 2024. “Don’t be that naïve!!! No one’s hair grows all back in that thick and long after 7 months of chemo and her “wig matched her completely?? Don’t buy it,” the user wrote (via Instagram).
It wasn’t until much later that Middleton herself shed a little light on why her hair wasn’t affected by her chemotherapy treatments. During a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in January 2025, one cancer patient who spoke with Middleton said that the princess did not have to use a cold cap during her treatments. “She just said that she didn’t have to have it,” the patient told People. “For her to lose her hair, which is so iconic, would have been awful. Everyone loves her hair!”
Kate Middleton was criticized for sporting lighter locks

Speaking of Kate Middleton’s thick, long mane, the public also seriously piled on when she stepped out in 2025, sporting a new shade of hair much lighter than her signature brunette locks. Later, while attending the Royal Variety Performance, the Daily Mail reported that after actress Su Pollard complimented Kate on her lighter hue, Kate told Pollard that her new look was simply a byproduct of Mother Nature. “It used to be brown, but it’s gone light in the sunshine,” the princess was quoted as saying.
Sadly, the internet trolls weren’t nearly as kind as Pollard. “The blonde/bronde makes her look older. Doesn’t suit her,” one X user tweeted. Meanwhile, others speculated Middleton’s new hair was a wig. “that’s a wig, bro,” another X user quipped.
Eventually, however, the snark became so much that psychologist Carolyn Mair weighed in on the matter during an appearance on Fox News, reminding everyone that the woman did just walk through a gnarly cancer diagnosis. She may be reclaiming agency and visibility, and leaving her illness behind,” Mair opined.
Kate Middleton was criticized over her weight at Wimbledon

In July 2024, Kate Middleton appeared to be on cloud nine as she attended her first Wimbledon tournament since her cancer diagnosis. “Great to be back at @Wimbledon!There’s nothing quite like The Championships,” she gushed on the Prince and Princess of Wales official Instagram account, including a carousel of photos of herself attending the tournament in a form-fitting dress.
Sadly, however, some onlookers took to the comments section to criticize Kate’s slender frame. “She has lost too much weight,” one Instagram user wrote. Meanwhile, another quipped, “Oh she needs a home cooked meal.” Given that Kate has been through cancer and chemotherapy, it should come as no surprise that Kate’s daily diet has probably changed, and perhaps even her tastes for certain foods. Suffice it to say, if you really care about Kate’s health, you’ll stop talking about her weight altogether. Enough is enough, already.
Kate Middleton was taken to task for abstaining from alcohol

In March 2026, Kate Middleton’s alcohol reveal spurred yet another public fight over her health. It all started when the Prince and Princess of Wales were visiting a brewery as part of a royal engagement. When asked whether she drank beer, Middleton casually mentioned that she was choosing to abstain from alcohol in light of her cancer diagnosis. “Since my diagnosis, I haven’t had much alcohol. It’s something I have to be a lot more conscious of now,” she explained (via YouTube). No harm, no foul, right? WRONG.
Like clockwork, people immediately started piling on, explaining all the reasons why the princess was wrong for publicly uttering such a confession. Top of mind, however, was how her comments might affect the brewery she was visiting. “Why’d she even go to the brewhall? To tell the world they are selling a carcinogenic product? Or why not accept the glass and just drink a little?” one Reddit user penned in a thread. Meanwhile, another quipped in the comments section, “I think she just wanted to bring up her cancer again in an attempt to distract and bring attention back to her.”

Kate Middleton forced to reveal personal post-cancer health change on royal visit
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been in the spotlight a lot recently, thanks to a string of royal engagements that have taken them up and down the country. On Thursday, the couple stopped by Fabal Beerhall on the Bermondsey Beer Mile in east London to flex their pint-pouring skills and champion local, independent, and female-owned businesses.
However, the visit turned out to be a personal one for Kate, who opened up about her recent health struggles. During the tour, the future queen was offered a taste of the brewery’s beer and cider. However, she declined the beverages before taking the time to explain her decision to the company’s owner, Hannah Rhodes.
Kate shared: “Since my diagnosis, I haven’t had much alcohol.” Instead, the 44-year-old beelined for a soft drink, adding that her alcohol intake is “something [she has] to be a lot more conscious of now.”
Following the royal visit, Rhodes relayed the touching moment to the press. She revealed that Kate had “said something along the lines of ‘since my diagnosis it has been best to avoid alcohol.'”
She said at the time: “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I’m now in the early stages of that treatment.”
In September 2024, Kate announced that she had completed her course of preventative chemotherapy. Then, in January 2025, she shared the news that she was cancer-free.
NHS cancer services commonly advise reducing alcohol intake during treatment to support recovery and reduce treatment side-effects. Complete abstinence may not be necessary and will depend on the type of treatment someone is having, so patients should consult with their healthcare professional.

Kate Middleton and King Charles’s Cancer Diagnoses Bonded Them Through “Adversity,” Royal Photographer Says

- King Charles and Kate Middleton both had operations for noncancerous health issues in January 2024.
- Within weeks, both had been diagnosed with cancer, with the King announcing his health news on February 5 and the Princess of Wales following suit on March 22.
- Veteran royal photographer Chris Jackson spoke in a new interview about how the two bonded over their simultaneous cancer battles.
It was a season that shook the royal stratosphere: King Charles and Kate Middleton were both diagnosed with cancer just weeks apart in the first part of 2024. Both initially had operations for noncancerous health issues in early January and, following both the King’s and the Princess of Wales’s respective procedures, cancer was detected. The monarch announced his diagnosis to the world on February 5 of that year, with Kate’s announcement following on March 22.

Through their simultaneous cancer battles, longtime royal photographer Chris Jackson told Page Six that the two found strength in one another. Jackson, the author of the new book Modern Majesty: The British Royal Family in a New Era, told the outlet, “I think you can’t avoid what’s happened with the cancer, with the King and Catherine.”
“I talk a lot about the adversity that the royal family faced over the last few years, and you really couldn’t have made it up, [them] basically having cancer at the same time,” he continued.
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():format(webp)/KateCharles2-e352675fc4a5433cb4dd3a32e0d9c27e.jpg)
Through his work, Jackson said he was able to witness both Charles and Kate return to their royal work stronger than ever. “To see the bounce back has been amazing,” Jackson said. “And that has generated a huge amount of goodwill and positivity.”
The King, for his part, has returned to public duty with an “incredible energy,” Jackson said, noting that he often has back-to-back royal engagements. “I honestly don’t know how he does it because, you know, it does take a lot of stamina.” He described the King as being in “top gear,” despite continuing to receive cancer treatment over two years after his diagnosis.
Kate, for her part, finished chemotherapy treatment in September 2024 and announced in January 2025 that she is in remission. That same day, Jackson was on hand when the Princess of Wales visited the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she received cancer treatment—a visit he called “poignant” and “incredibly emotional.”
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():format(webp)/KateCharles1-f7808ca60e7f486c9be6d22e5a36a8f6.jpg)
“It’s probably one of the most powerful royal visits I’ve done in recent years because of the symbolism of what happened to her and the comeback,” Jackson said. “And obviously she’s back to full speed with royal engagements.”
Charles and Kate’s bond only deepened when both were facing down cancer, royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith previously told People. “He has always had a very good bond with her,” she said. “I don’t think it is presumptuous to say that she is like the daughter he never had. He shares with [Prince] William an impulse to protect her. They are in this together, Kate and the King.”
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():format(webp)/KateCharles-078aa455042741a0b5317c715a0f3ae3.jpg)
“Obviously they have this in common and can only bring them closer,” Bedell Smith added. “It is a source of reassurance and consolation for both of them.”

After Kate’s video message announcing her cancer diagnosis was released, Buckingham Palace said that the King was “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did.”
Kate Middleton Recreates Exact Princess Diana Look 31 Years Later for Meaningful Appearance
In addition to channeling Diana through her ensemble, the Princess of Wales also wore her mother-in-law’s sapphire and diamond drop earrings on April 25.

The future queen’s Sarah Burton for Givenchy ensemble also directly channeled a look Diana wore in Germany in 1995.
In addition to wearing a pair of sapphire and diamond drop earrings from Princess Diana’s collection, for her most recent appearance Kate Middleton also directly channeled a look her late mother-in-law wore in 1995—31 years ago.

On April 25, Kate attended Anzac Day commemorations, both at the Cenotaph and Westminster Abbey. Her bespoke coatdress from Givenchy by Sarah Burton directly mirrored a look Diana wore in 1995 while visiting Germany. Diana was in the country to present new colors to the Light Dragoon Guards Regiment, and (per Hello!) wore a navy Catherine Walker skirt suit with white lapels that was almost identical to Kate’s outfit from Saturday. Diana completed her look with a wide-brimmed hat and a white belt.

Kate kept her ensemble in the navy family on Saturday, wearing not just her coatdress—which, too, had bold white lapels, as well as a wrap front and structured shoulders—but also a matching Jane Taylor hat, navy Gianvito Rossi pumps, and carrying a navy bag by DeMellier London. Kate affixed a red poppy pin to her coat to honor those who lost their lives in conflict. Anzac Day itself serves as an important occasion to commemorate all Australians and New Zealanders who lost their lives in battle and to honor those who served. Both Australia and New Zealand are Commonwealth countries.
The Princess of Wales further accessorized her look Saturday with a rarely seen tanzanite and diamond pendant from G. Collins & Sons, thought to have been a gift from her husband Prince William in 2015. She also wore Diana’s sapphire and diamond drop earrings, thought to have been a wedding present when Diana married Prince Charles in 1981. Diana wore the earrings to many fashion-forward occasions, from her one and only Met Gala in 1996 to on the cover of British Vogue in 1994, when she appeared in honor of her 33rd birthday.

“On an occasion like Anzac Day, jewelry stops being decorative and becomes communicative,” Nilesh Rakholia, founder of Abelini, tells InStyle. “It’s about meaning, continuity, and respect for the moment.”
“These are pieces that already hold a strong emotional and historical narrative,” he continues. “By choosing them for a day centered on remembrance, she allows that narrative to extend beyond personal legacy into something more collective. The jewelry becomes part of the language of the occasion.”

Rakholia says that “In a setting like this, jewelry cannot feel performative,” and adds, “This is jewelry used with intention. Not to decorate, but to communicate.”
“She has consistently used jewelry to create a sense of lineage,” Rakholia adds of Kate. “But it never feels like replication. Pieces associated with Diana are recontextualized, worn in a way that reflects her own role, her own moment. That’s where the distinction lies.”

Princess Kate shares how her alcohol habits changed after cancer diagnosis
Princess Kate revealed her relationship with alcohol has changed since her cancer diagnosis.
While touring a beer hall with Prince William on March 12, the Princess of Wales, 44, said she’s not much of a drinker.
“Since my diagnosis, drinking alcohol is not really something − it’s just something I have to be a lot more conscious of now,” the royal says in video taken at the event.
Princess Kate revealed in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and would undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy after having abdominal surgery. Her treatment ended in September, and in January 2025, she announced her cancer was in remission.
Alcohol and cancer risk
Drinking alcohol raises your risk of getting several kinds of cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends that adults choose not to drink alcohol or drink it in moderation, meaning two or fewer drinks a day for men and one or fewer drinks a day for women.
“The recommended limit is lower for women because of their smaller body size and because their bodies tend to break down alcohol more slowly,” the American Cancer Society explains.
Alcohol during and after cancer treatment
It’s important to ask your doctor if it’s safe to drink alcohol when taking prescription medicine, including cancer treatment, the CDC adds.
During cancer treatment, alcohol can interact with some drugs and increase the risk of harmful side effects, the American Cancer Society notes.
“For people who have completed cancer treatment, it isn’t clear if alcohol use after treatment might raise the risk of cancer recurrence or a second cancer, but it is possible,” the organization explained.
