The grief of losing a son is one of the hardest things in the world. Cindy Crawford, whose son Presley passed away on September 20, is sadly having to experience this kind of grief. And she and her husband, Rande Gerber, are reportedly leaning on those close to them to try to get through the days.
According to Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, George Clooney is one of those people. George and Rande have been friends for years, and founded the Casamigos tequila business together with Mike Meldman in 2013.
“George is absolutely heartbroken for Rande and Cindy,” a source told Naughty But Nice. “Forget Hollywood, forget Casamigos, forget the money. These men are brothers. George has made it clear that whatever Rande needs, at any hour, he will be there.”

And for now, Clooney is giving Rande and Cindy the most important thing you can do at a moment like this one: his presence.
“George knows there are no words that can touch this kind of grief,” the insider said. “He isn’t trying to fix something that cannot be fixed. He’s simply showing up and refusing to let Rande go through it alone.”
His wife, Amal, is also there to lend her support.
“George and Amal love this family,” added the source. “When tragedy hits, real friends don’t run from the pain. They move closer.”
A representative for Presley’s family confirmed his death to TMZ. He was 27. Presley passed away at a rehab facility in Santa Monica, Calif. According to audio recordings obtained by People, he was allegedly in cardiac arrest after an apparent overdose. He was found dead at the scene.
Sources told Page Six that Cindy is “inconsolable.”
“She’s absolutely devastated,” one source said. “This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and the family is still trying to process everything that happened.”
Presley had reportedly checked himself into a facility days before his death, with Page Six reporting that he “had not been doing well,” explaining, “He’s always suffered from a huge lack of self-esteem and had trouble accepting his real self and feeling fully confident in who he was as a person.”
A source said Presley “seemed a little off in recent weeks,” as if “something was just not there.”
“Energetically, he didn’t seem like himself,” they added, saying that Presley allegedly “felt like he was lacking purpose in his life,” “hadn’t really found his place,” and “didn’t really know where he wanted to go and what he wanted to do.”
Despite “struggling with a lot of things,” he “wanted so, so badly to be free of his addictions.”
Back in 2023, he said on the Studio 22 podcast, “Having struggled with mental health, depression, and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do.”
“I’ve seen a lot of stuff and I’ve learned a lot of things. What I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for some other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made.”

Presley died on Sunday, Sept. 20, at a rehab facility, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records obtained by PEOPLE. TMZ was first to report the news.
A representative for Presley’s mother, Cindy Crawford; father, Rande Gerber and sister, Kaia Gerber, tells PEOPLE, “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
An autopsy has yet to be completed, TMZ reported.
Presley was the son of model Crawford and Rande, a businessman. He was also the brother of model and actress Kaia.
Born in Beverly Hills, Calif., in 1999, Presley was a model himself. He was charged with a DUI in December 2019, and in 2020, he got a tattoo on his face that read, “MISUNDERSTOOD.” (A year later, he appeared to have had it removed.)
Before his death, Gerber began opening up about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse.
“Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do,” he said on the Studio 22 podcast.
“[Mental health] is an issue. It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it,” Presley continued. “That’s really what I want to do: help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment.”
He added, “I’ve seen a lot of stuff and I’ve learned a lot of things. What I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for some other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made.”
Presley started sharing “Mental Health Mondays” videos on his Instagram. In one of the videos, posted in 2024, he talked about being in recovery circles and how to find common ground with others.
Another video, posted in July 2025, was about integrating healthy habits into his life. He said that he grew up a “very active” kid, playing sports and taking part in surfing, water polo and swimming.
But when he began working, he said, sports fell by the wayside: “The quality of life rapidly decreased.” He added that it took “10 years” to figure out that he needed to reconnect with physical activity again.
In a since-deleted Instagram video posted in December 2025, Presley opened up about the several depressant medications he was on, including Buprenorphine, Xanax and Valium, to treat his “panic attacks.”
“Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of loss in many different forms recently, so that is not an excuse, but it’s the reason why I am where I’m at now,” he said, adding in the same clip that he wanted his video to reach “people in many ways.”
“A. So you feel like you’re not alone, because that is how I feel most of the time, and I have a feeling that if I say all of this, a lot of people will at least know that there’s someone else going through it,” he said. “And the second thing is, hopefully, I find some people out here… willing to help or know someone that can help.”
In the September 2026 issue of Vogue, Kaia reflected on what the outlet called Presley’s “decade-long struggle with drug addiction.”
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia said, adding that she ended up putting her needs on the back burner. “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.”
She said seeing Presley be so open about his life was refreshing. “My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone.’ There’s only so much you can hide from the world,” she said. “And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”
Presley was signed by IMG Models at 15 years old. By age 17, Presley and Kaia (who was 14) started to get major attention as fashion models. Presley made his runway debut in a Moschino show in Los Angeles, headed to Milan for a Dolce & Gabbana show and appeared in a Calvin Klein campaign.
He told W magazine in 2016 that during his early runway gigs, his only thought was, “Don’t fall.” He added, “That’s all. I was like, ‘Please don’t trip, just make it to the end.’ . . . I get sidetracked really easily, so if I just think about what I’m doing, then I can do it better.”
In 2018, Presley told PEOPLE that working alongside Kaia made modeling “a lot less lonely.” He also revealed that though he got good grades in high school, he was planning on skipping college. “I wanted to go for a minute, and then I just started working. And now I’m having so much fun, it’s like: Don’t fix it if it’s not broken,” he said.
Presley is survived by his sister and parents.
