I have always noted how much of a struggle it is for dogs to live on the streets, and it is even worse for puppies who are abandoned.
But, Louis’ story is even more heartbreaking. Because of a leg deformity, this tiny puppy was cruelly abandoned by his owner near a landfill and left to starve.
Fortunately for him, his fortunes soon changed when a group of kind people saw him and decided to do something about it.
Louis’ Story
When the rescuers first came to help Louis, they saw him lying next to a landfill just waiting. His tiny feet were bent so he couldn’t move properly.
He had many other health issues as well, and he was in desperate need of help. To think that someone would just leave him like this is incredibly cruel.
The rescuers took him immediately to the clinic and even the veterinarians were in disbelief after what they saw. This was just a really heartbreaking situation.
They suspected that he had ringworm and was really malnourished. He weighed only two kilograms and would need a very strict diet in order to recover from this.
He will need to stay at least a month in the clinic in order to make a full recovery. His rescuers brought him some toys to make his stay more enjoyable and he was so happy because of it.
The test results for the infection came back negative, so that was a huge relief for his veterinarians. It meant that his recovery would go at an accelerated pace.
However, he does have some other organ issues that are causing problems. Primarily, he has pyelonephritis, gastroenteritis, and cystitis.
A Remarkable Transformation
This was all manageable, however, and Louis’ treatment continued as usual. The results were staggering. His paws were now going back to normal and his fur was also growing back.
His weight had gone up to 3.6 kilograms and he was continuing to grow. The good news just kept coming.
But, there was a little setback. Little Louis was diagnosed with parvovirus. This was bad, but it wasn’t too concerning for the veterinarians because they monitored his health at all times.
They knew his health was better now and he will almost certainly make a recovery with his new treatment. After he finally did recover, he was allowed to be discharged from the hospital.
His new family took him in and they continued his treatment at home. He was just such a lovable dog that he surprised everyone.
Despite all the heartbreak he went through, he was a very positive puppy and nothing could change that. Occasionally, Louis’ new family would go to visit his rescuer and he was always happy to see her.
He made a lot of friends since being discharged from the clinic as he was a very social pup. His family really loves him because he loves children a lot.
It’s really heartwarming to see that Louis has made such a remarkable transformation in almost no time and is now living happily ever after with the most amazing people.
