Nicholl wrote that the late Lady Elizabeth Anson, who died in 2020, said the Queen described the Windsor home as a “big deal” and shared her hopes that Harry and Meghan would “respect” her generosity.

Lady Elizabeth is quoted as saying: “The cottage was a big deal. The Queen’s entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage. It is essentially her back yard, her solitude, and her privacy.

“She was giving that up in gifting Harry and Meghan Frogmore Cottage. We all thought it was very big of her. She said, ‘I hope they’ll respect it.'”

Known to be keen fans of rugby, the couple has often teased each other about their divided loyalties during similar clashes in the past. Just last year, William humorously anticipated a “tense journey home” following a similar Six Nations showdown between Wales and England in Cardiff. Ahead of the beginning of yesterday’s match, eventually won by England, Princess of Wales took her seat next to RFU President Rob Udwin.

The pair were caught chatting every now and then, and a lip reader believes the princess made a comment about a “nervous” player.

Turning to Mr Udwin, Kate said, according to the lip reader who spoke to the Mirror: “He is nervous, I can see he is.”

It’s unclear which player they are discussing, but in response, Mr Udwin said: “He is certainly not an amateur”. This led Kate to agree, as she reportedly said: “He certainly is not.”

Mr Udwin then said: “He is very impressive”, with Kate nodding in agreement, saying: “He plays very well as I imagined.”

Prince William was seated between his wife and Terry Cobner, the WRU president.

Before the much-anticipated match, the Prince and Princess of Wales spent time with injured players who had been supported by the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, of which William is patron, in the Sir Tasker Watkins Suite at the stadium.

This suite is a dedicated space for the players and their families to use before games.

Princess Kate is making a gradual return to full-time royal duties following her cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The royal, who announced earlier this year her cancer is now in remission, is expected to visit the Irish Guards on St Patrick’s Day in London on Monday.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aren’t strangers to a little nighttime Netflix.

The Duchess of Sussex recently opened up to PEOPLE in an exclusive interview, sharing intimate details about her family life, from “day dates” with her 5-year-old son, Prince Archie, to the adorable kitchen habits of her 3-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet.

And like many parents, when the kids go to bed, Meghan, 43, and Prince Harry, 40, like to unwind with some of their favorite shows.

“We love Shrinking; we just finished Black Doves and we’re excited for the new season of The White Lotus,” Meghan shares.

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking for their next watch on Netflix, they’re likely to see a familiar face on the screen thanks to her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. This week, the Duchess of Sussex’s first solo hosting show for the streaming service ranked tenth on Netflix‘s global Top 10 Shows Overview list, amassing 2.6 million views and 12.6 million hours watched since its debut. A second season has already been filmed and is set to premiere in the fall.

Meghan tells PEOPLE about the lifestyle show that features her cooking, beekeeping, party planning and more with friends old and new: “The series is about doing what you can do, and doing it with love.”

The couple’s evening routine also includes what Meghan calls their “nightcap recaps,” where the couple unwind with a drink and a debrief of their day. Those conversations often happen as they engage in another familiar parenting task: packing Archie and Lili’s lunches for the next day.

“I think all parents in this phase with kids the same age know it’s rinse and repeat,” Meghan says of their routine.

It’s a world away from where Meghan was when she first started dating Harry in 2016. Yet she shares with PEOPLE that in this new phase of their family, she and her husband are finding their perfect balance.

“I imagine that it’s the same as it would be for any couple,” she notes. “You have your individual jobs, but then you have things that you share together.”

“We’ve been such a close team for so long that we’re just in it beat by beat with each other,” Meghan marvels. “And I love that. To be able to be a female founder and do that with my husband’s support means everything.”

Meghan is also becoming involved with the Montecito community and adjusting to her new normal since the family moved to California five years ago.

“I have a couple of girlfriends up here; these are stay-at-home moms and working women with normal jobs, not in the public eye,” she explains. “We went from just connecting through our kids to having girls’ night out or doing Pilates together.”

In turn, Meghan says, the community in Montecito has similarly embraced the family.

“Once you know us, I think you want us to have the same normalcy as parents and for our children as they do, despite however unique our situation is,” she reflects.
