More details have come to light surrounding Rosie Roche’s untimely death.

Just over a week after the granddaughter of Princess Diana’s uncle, who is also a cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, died at her Norton home at 20 years old, a coroner confirmed to The Independent that the cause of death was a “traumatic head injury.”

As revealed during an inquest into Roche’s death held on July 21 at Wiltshire and Swindon coroner’s court, per The Times, the college student was found at the property by her mother and sister after she had been packing her bags to go away with friends. According to the outlet, a firearm was also found nearby.

Area coroner Grant Davies added at the time, per The Times, that police “have deemed the death as non-suspicious” and that “there was no third-party involvement.”

E! News has reached out to local police, the royal family and the coroner’s office for comment but has not heard back.

The case has reportedly been adjourned until October 25.

“This relates to the sudden death of a woman in her 20s,” Wilshire police told the outlet. “There are no suspicious circumstances and our thoughts are with her family.”

“We would ask,” authorities continued, “that their privacy is respected at this terrible time.”

The news surrounding Roche’s passing broke two days prior to the inquest when The Yorkshire Post announced in a notice that “Roche, Rosie Jeanne Burke died on Monday 14th July 2025.”

“Darling daughter of Hugh and Pippa,” the obituary read, “incredible sister to Archie and Agatha, Granddaughter to Derek and Rae Long.”

The announcement also noted that a private family funeral and memorial service would be held at a later date.

Roche was a first-year student studying English literature at Durham University, per The Times, and following her passing, the principal of the school’s University College Wendy Powers shared that staff and students alike were “extremely saddened” by her sudden passing.

“Rosie had settled into the university and college beautifully and had lots of friends,” she told the outlet. “She was loved for her creativity, energy, her love of books, poetry and travel among many other talents. She will be sorely missed.”

Before going to university, Roche had attended St Mary’s Calne, a girls’ independent boarding and day school in Wiltshire.

“Rosie was a cherished member of our community,” the school wrote in a statement, per The Times, “and she will be remembered with great affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her.”

“When we return for the new term,” the statement continued, “we will hold a time of reflection in her memory to honour her life and the wonderful impact she had on those around her.”

Prince Harry Revealed What ‘Breaks’ His Heart as a Father After Reports William Plans to Strip Archie & Lilibet of Their Royal Titles

Prince Harry has been trying to keep Princess Diana’s memory alive and continue with her legacy. That’s partly why he set out on a tour of Angola to recreate the walk that Princess Diana took across an Angola minefield in 1997. This is a continuing trend, as Prince Harry also did this in 2019 and 2024.

“As a father to young children, it breaks my heart to see innocent children still living and playing next to minefields,” the Duke of Sussex said in a statement. “All of us have a duty to protect children and future generations from the harms of war, both present and past.”

“This commitment is about more than removing deadly devices. It’s about unlocking potential in a country that has so much — enabling children to walk to school safely, allowing farmers to grow crops, attracting sustainable development and bringing back wildlife tourism,” he added.

Harry has previously called continuing his mother’s work in the region a “responsibility” he takes seriously. The Halo Trust, the organization Prince Harry is working with, has cleared 120,000 landmines in Angola that were left over from years of civil war.

Prince Harry previously told The Telegraph that Prince Archie requested to see footage of Princess Diana’s original walk that Harry recreated. “Archie was asking about landmines, so I was talking about how some of these guys were blown up,” Harry told the outlet. “Interestingly, it gave me a chance to talk about my mum, his grandma, which I didn’t even really consider, so that became the outcome of the story for him,” he added.

According to Harry, Archie “wanted to see videos and photographs of his Grandma Diana out doing her thing for landmines all those years ago. It produced a very interesting conversation between me and him, different to what I thought it would be.”

The humanitarian push comes as new reports indicate Prince Harry might be closer to reconciliation with his estranged father, King Charles, than ever. Aides for the two met recently, and Harry has been open about his desire to patch things up with both his father and his brother.

However, this new development doesn’t seem to include Prince William. And recent reports indicate the future King is ready to take big steps when he becomes King, with a friend telling The Daily Beast about Harry and Meghan Markle’s titles, “They have asked the Sussexes politely to stop using the style, to no avail, so I imagine William will simply issue new letters patent to formally remove the entire family’s right to use HRH when he becomes king.”

A former courtier even told the outlet, “Charles may not want this fight, but William despises Harry and Meghan at this stage, and when he is king, his fury will rain down on them.”

Whether that changes after recent reports that the two sides are trying to patch things up is anybody’s guess, but for now, it seems like things cannot be fixed between the brothers, even if Prince Harry and King Charles do end up reconciling.

Lady Sarah McCorquodale

The late royal was the youngest daughter of John Spencer and Frances Shand Kydd. Diana grew up with two older sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, and a younger brother, Charles Spencer. Before Diana was born, her parents also welcomed a son named John Spencer in 1960. However, he tragically died hours after his birth.

Diana’s parents called it quits in 1969 and her father received custody of her and her siblings.

Diana married King Charles III in 1981, and they welcomed sons Prince William and Prince Harry in June 1982 and September 1984, respectively. The couple divorced in 1996, and Diana died in a fatal car accident in Paris the following year.

Diana’s family was back in the spotlight in July 2025 when news broke that her uncle Edmund Roche’s granddaughter Rosie Roche died at age 20.

Despite enduring tragedy, Diana’s love and legacy is alive and well thanks to her siblings, sons and now grandchildren.

The heir to the throne turns 12 on July 22 and will likely ring in the special occasion with his family. Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eldest son may be king one day, but the Prince and Princess of Wales have worked to ensure he still has a normal childhood largely outside of the royal spotlight.

In honor of Prince George’s latest milestone, look back at the best photos throughout the years.

On July 22, 2013, Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed their first child. Keeping with royal tradition, the proud parents posed for a photo call outside the hospital the following day to introduce the world to the new addition to the line of succession to the throne (when he was born, George was third in line behind his grandfather Charles and father William).

The little prince’s name was soon announced as George Alexander Louis, likely a tribute to the regnal name of Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI.
