Prince William Issues Bold Statement About Feud With Prince Harry originally appeared on Parade.
When it comes to anything involving his personal life, Prince William tends to follow the British royal family’s motto: “Never complain, never explain.” But during his most recent outing, he seems to have made an exception.
On Wednesday, June 4, the Prince of Wales paid a visit to the Army Air Corps in Wattisham, Suffolk, visiting for the first time since he was named Colonel-in-Chief. Though military service was once something he had in common with Prince Harry, the brothers are now famously estranged.
Harry has been open about how he feels about The Firm these days, but William has stayed silent in the middle of it all… until now, that is.
As the Daily Mail reported, while chatting with soldiers who were taking a break from training, William made a rare comment about his family relationships that seemed to be a bit of a dig at his little brother.
After asking the soldiers, “Is the pace of life good at the moment?” one of them responded that it was a “mixed bag.”
To that, William said, “Families okay? See you enough? Some of them might not want to see you that much. It’s a mixed bag sometimes.”
He may have just been making conversation, but given the length of his ongoing feud with Harry — who is now an ocean away, living his own life in California — his comment seems a bit too on the nose for him not to be making a reference to his personal life.
It may not seem like much, but this is the most we’ve gotten out of William on the topic so far.
Does this mean he’s finally ready to talk about it? Maybe Will’s gearing up for a bombshell BBC interview of his own!

Prince William Finally Addresses Prince Harry Feud Amid Reports They’ve ‘Not Spoken in More Than 2 Years’
Prince William sure knows a thing or two. about family squabbles. The Prince of Wales is currently dealing with a rift with his brother Prince Harry, and he shared a rare insight about the Royal family.
Prince William visited the Army Air Corps on June 3, and he asked a soldier, “Is the pace of life good at the moment?” The soldier responded that it was a “mixed bag,” which led to a conversation about family life.
“Family’s OK? See you enough?” the Heir asked. “Some of them might not want to see you that much. It’s a mixed bag sometimes.”
The statement comes after reports came out that William and his brother Prince Harry haven’t talked in two years. “There is no relationship,” a source confirmed to Us Weekly. Royal expert Marlene Koenig agreed that, “Bridges have been burned on both sides.”
“For William, there’s a fear that Harry would go to the press and talk about what was said between them if he speaks to him,” Koenig expands. With Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis, the Wales family were preoccupied in giving their energy towards recovery. “William and Kate have had to deal with her cancer and not worry about what Harry is saying. They’re doing what they do as a family and as the future king and future queen consort and live their lives.”
Koenig also explained that Prince William acts like a barrier between Harry and Charles. “Charles never stopped loving Harry, but he doesn’t want to [cause] any more tension within the family,” she says. “He can’t bring his two sons together — that’s something they need to do. It must be awfully painful for the king that he doesn’t see his grandchildren and that he can’t talk to his son for fear of what will happen,” she adds, “but he’s keeping his distance until they can find a way to talk.”
“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry said in his bombshell interview with the BBC. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.”
Royal commentator Richard Fitzsimmons told the outlet that the interview might have deepened the rift. “William cannot forgive Harry for having betrayed the royal family in destructive interviews and a memoir while at the same time ruthlessly monetizing their royal connections in the U.S.,” says Fitzsimmons.
Recent reports from The Daily Beast reveal that once William ascends to the throne, he will treat them very harshly. A source told The Daily Beast: “Charles might be happy to put up with this, but William won’t. He loathes and despises Harry and Meghan with every bone in his body, he believes they have betrayed everything the family stands for and the idea that they are using their royal status as a calling card will enrage him.”
Prince of Wales jokes families don’t always want to see each other
The Prince of Wales joked that families did not always want to see each other and could be “a mixed bag” as he made his first visit to the Army Air Corps (AAC) as their Colonel-in-Chief.
Prince William flew to and from the base in Wattisham, Suffolk, in a Wildcat helicopter, a reconnaissance aircraft in the AAC’s fleet.
Dressed in camouflage military uniform and the AAC’s iconic blue beret, he immediately got stuck into learning about life at the flying station, serving up bacon and sausage baps and pledging to raise concerns about accommodation
Chatting to soldiers on an airfield, he asked about the pace of life and how often they saw loved ones.
“Some of them might not want to see you that much,” he quipped. “It’s a mixed bag.”
The Prince is not in contact with his younger brother, Prince Harry, who served as an Apache helicopter commander and co-pilot gunner with the AAC during his second tour of Afghanistan in 2012 and until 2014.
After watching a combat PT session, William spoke to those taking part during a water break.
He told them the chat would “give you a breather”, adding of the training: “It’s good to get out and about.”
The Prince, who has previously revealed that he enjoys boxing, said the training could help with frustration, adding: “It’s good to take it out on a punch bag.”
He also showed an interest in soldiers’ general welfare and promised to ensure concerns about accommodation were “looked at”.
The Prince said: “It probably hasn’t been looked at for a while. There will be a big notebook on somebody’s desk.
“Whether they listen to me, that’s another matter.”
When he asked another group about accommodation and only received smiles in response, he said: “I’ll take that away, a lot of smiles going on, that’s all you need to say.”
He later served bacon rolls and sausage baps during the Archer’s Breakfast, a weekly social event held by 664 Squadron for its personnel and their families, admitting that the food was “very good-smelling, making my mouth water”.
A long line of servicemen and their families quickly formed and the Prince quipped “nothing worse than the smell of bacon in the room and you cannot eat it”.
The ladies serving alongside him later praised his skills, which they said were “spot on” and “had pace”.
The Prince was told about the 664 Squadron’s operational lessons from overseas tours and how soldiers were adapting to the new capabilities of the recently acquired Apache AH-64E.
He also met Mike and Lorna Pope, parents of Air Trooper Daniel Pope of 664 Squadron, who died of cancer in 2016.
The Prince, a former RAF helicopter search-and-rescue pilot who later spent two years flying air ambulances, presented Staff Sergeant Kenneth Robert Copeland with an award for his exceptional service in West Africa and also promoted several soldiers from corporal to sergeant, before flying himself home in a Wildcat.
Staff Sergeant Megan Chasney said afterwards: “It was fantastic. It’s a privilege to be able to host our Colonel-in-Chief.
“We had a nice relaxed conversation on our way from the sports pitch down to here to speak about everything, our main issues at Wattisham and how he can help aid us with those, and what it’s like with service personnel and our families.”
She added on their accommodation: “You can see this is a World War Two camp. Its ageing accommodation and its ageing infrastructure. We have new infrastructure coming but it can’t come fast enough.”
The Prince became the AAC’s Colonel-in-Chief in May 2024 when the King officially handed over the role to his elder son at the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop, Hampshire.
Meghan Markle Posts Gorgeous Photo of Daughter Lilibet—and It’s Unlike Any Photo Meghan’s Shared in Years
Today marks a milestone for King Charles’s youngest grandchild, Princess Lilibet. The daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is turning four—and her parents shared a stunning photo to mark the occasion.

In honor of Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday, Markle posted two images on her new-ish Instagram account, both black-and-white shots.
The first image shows Markle and her daughter cuddling on what appears to be a boat (perhaps the same one from the Harry pic shared back in March?). The second looks to have been taken moments after Lilibet’s birth.
Markle captioned the post, “Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives – and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!”
And while the image is certainly beautiful, something specific caught my eye: the young princess is facing the camera.

Markle has shared a number of photos and videos of Lilibet (where her red hair is on display) and son Archie, 6, in recent months. But they all feature the kids facing away from the camera, a common theme among celebs. This is the first time in recent memory that Lilibet is facing the camera. And though her mouth and nose are covered by Markle’s hand, we do get a look at her hair and her eyes.
Three years ago, photographer Misan Harriman shared a birthday photo of Lili (above), where her full face is visible. The photo was captioned, “It was such a privilege to celebrate the 1st birthday of Lilibet with my family and hers! Joy and face painting all around.”

Sending Princess Lili all the birthday wishes!
Prince Harry Spoke to Princess Diana’s Brother About Changing His Last Name to Spencer & I’m Floored By the Prospect.
When I first saw the headlines, I took it with a grain of salt: Over the weekend, The Mail on Sunday reported that Prince Harry spoke with his uncle, Charles Spencer, about the idea of dropping his royal last name of Mountbatten-Windsor in favor of using his late mother Princess Diana’s surname, Spencer, instead. But could it really be true? As with many royal things, the sources felt spotty, but as more and more publications picked up the news, the gravity of the Duke of Sussex even considering a move like that hit me: The state of royal relations between father and son (and William) must be bleaker than we ever thought.
After all, the move—which Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, is said to have talked Harry out of, according to the reports—would have also affected his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who are currently sixth and seventh in line to the British throne. (For example, it would have changed Lilibet’s name from Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor to Lilibet Diana Spencer.) It also would have read like a royal mic drop and a permanent and symbolic severing of any remaining familial ties.

Don’t get me wrong: We already know that the state of Harry’s relationship, specifically with his father King Charles, is practically non-existent in the wake of the Duke of Sussex’s battle for U.K.-based security, per his recent interview with the BBC. But the idea that he would adopt his mother’s last name feels like a blow that would remove all associations with the House of Windsor, not to mention chart a path that he couldn’t take back. (That said, to formally align his identity with Diana’s would not only carry a great deal of meaning for Harry, it would make sense given how similarly their life trajectories inside—but especially outside of—the royal sphere seem to align.)

As for Charles Spencer’s role, reports state that the 9th Earl Spencer—who recently saw Harry during a rare visit to the U.K. to attend the funeral of his uncle, Robert Fellowes, last year—talked him out of it and told Harry that the legal challenges to a decision like that would be “insurmountable.” (Both William and Harry are notably close with Diana’s brother.)
Of course, this isn’t the only name change drama that’s cropped up for the Sussexes as of late. When Meghan Markle’s recent Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, first debuted, much was made about her revelation to actress Mindy Kaling about changing her last name to Sussex—a move that solidified her family’s collective identity, even if it wasn’t formalized. “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me,” she shared.
To be clear, based on reports, it sounds like Harry was just putting feelers out. (It’s also good to know he has someone like Charles Spencer to lean on in times like this.) But a move like that would be major—and, sadly, speaks volumes about where things currently stand.
