After reports surfaced that Meghan Markle reached out to her father following a critical surgery in the Philippines, family members are calling the move a “PR stunt.”
The fractured relationship between Meghan Markle and her family has hit a new low following reports that her father, Thomas Markle Sr., underwent an emergency leg amputation at a hospital in Cebu, Philippines.
A Medical Crisis
Medical professionals expressed grave concern for the 80-year-old’s condition, stating he will require further surgery to address a blood clot in his left thigh. The coming days are reportedly “critical” for his recovery.
Doctors were forced to amputate Thomas Sr.’s left leg below the knee to prevent life-threatening complications, including sepsis and gangrene, after the tissue turned black and necrotic.
Meghan’s estranged sister, Samantha Markle, voiced her distress, reminding the public that their father has already survived two heart attacks and a stroke. “We just hope he can pull through this difficult time,” she said.

War of Words
The medical emergency has sparked a fresh round of vitriol from Samantha Markle, who blasted the Duchess of Sussex following reports that Meghan had attempted to contact her father post-surgery.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Samantha dismissed the claims as a calculated PR move. “You are gullible,” she wrote. “Believe it when he is put on a private jet and moved to one of the best hospitals in the U.S. for treatment. Until then, don’t hold your breath. This is likely just PR spin after public scrutiny.”
In a series of scathing posts, Samantha mocked the presence of paparazzi near the area, arguing that media attention should not be mistaken for a genuine attempt at reconciliation.
However, sources close to the Duchess told Page Six that she did reach out to her father after learning his left leg was amputated due to blood flow issues. Meanwhile, Meghan’s brother, Thomas Markle Jr., confirmed that their father’s three-hour surgery was successful, describing the patriarch as “very brave.”

A Legacy of Estrangement
The health crisis is the latest chapter in a long-running family saga. Thomas Markle Sr. famously missed the 2018 Royal Wedding of Meghan and Prince Harry due to heart surgery. Since then, his health has continued to decline, including a debilitating stroke in Tijuana in 2022.
Meghan spoke candidly about the fallout during her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. “I grieve a lot,” she said. “I mean, I’ve lost a father. I lost a baby. I nearly lost my name. There’s a loss of identity. But I’m still standing, and my hope for people in the world to know there’s another side.”
In the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, Prince Harry took personal responsibility for the rift. “It’s incredibly sad what happened. She had a father before this, and now she doesn’t,” Harry said. “I shoulder that, because if Meg wasn’t with me, then her dad would still be her dad.”

Royal Outrage: Harry and Meghan Under Fire for Hard-Partying Night with the Kardashians
The British Monarchy is reportedly “livid” after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were spotted rubbing shoulders with Hollywood’s elite at Kris Jenner’s lavish 70th birthday bash.
The inner sanctum of the British Royal Family is reportedly reeling after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen partying the night away at Kris Jenner’s milestone 70th birthday celebration. Insiders claim the appearance is a “tacky” move that further cements why the couple is no longer welcome in the Royal fold.
“The whole thing is just low-rent,” a Royal source remarked.

A Star-Studded Night in Beverly Hills
Dressed in formal black-tie attire, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined a sea of A-listers on November 8 at a $165 million Beverly Hills estate. The event was hosted by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez.
The guest list read like a Who’s Who of Hollywood, including Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Martha Stewart, Mariah Carey, Oprah Winfrey, Paris Hilton, Adele, and the entire Kardashian clan. Even Jenner’s plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Levine—the man credited with her age-defying look—was in attendance.
“This shows just how detached Harry has become from his family,” the source added. “These people may be stars in America, but this level of excessive flash is the polar opposite of the dignity Prince William is trying to cultivate for the Monarchy.”

The Zuckerberg Friction
Notably present was Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, with whom the Sussexes have a complicated history. In January, the couple publicly slammed the tech mogul, accusing his platforms of contributing to a “global mental health crisis” following Meta’s decision to scale back fact-checking and speech controls.
The Mystery of the Deleted Photos
The couple is now at the center of a social media mystery after both Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian scrubbed all photos featuring Harry and Meghan from their Instagram accounts shortly after the party.
The internet has since exploded with theories. “Why even go? If you attend an event like that, you know you’re going to be photographed,” one user commented. “They were there; deleting the evidence doesn’t change that.”
Some speculate that Harry and Meghan “begged” the Kardashians to take the photos down to avoid a PR nightmare during Remembrance Weekend—a solemn time dedicated to honoring British veterans. “They were likely terrified of the optics, especially since Harry was still wearing his red remembrance poppy on his lapel while partying,” one critic noted.
Others believe the decision came from the Kardashians themselves. “Meghan claims she wants a ‘private life’ but is constantly social climbing with Hollywood elites,” one user quipped. “It’s embarrassing when even Kim Kardashian deletes you.”

Hollywood Ties and a Surprise Cameo
The outing underscores the Sussexes’ deepening ties to Hollywood, particularly as Jeff Bezos’s Amazon MGM is producing Meghan’s upcoming project, Close Personal Friends.
In a move that blurs the lines between reality and fiction, Meghan will reportedly play herself in a cameo role for the romantic comedy. Sources claim she landed the spot thanks to her “close personal relationship” with the production team.
The film is being spearheaded by showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. While Meghan reportedly wrapped her scenes last week, insiders insist this does not signal a full-scale return to her acting career.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Dropped a Never-Before-Seen Pic of Their Kids, Archie and Lilibet
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared an adorable new photo of them with children Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, in celebration of the holidays.
Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have shared an adorable new photo with children Archie and Lilibet in celebration of the holiday season.
The former Meghan Markle posted the never-before-seen family shot on Instagram on Dec. 19. The photo features Harry getting a playful hug from Archie, 6, and Meghan holding hands with Lilibet, 4, on a tiny footbridge in a woodsy setting.

“Happy Holidays! From our family to yours,” Meghan wrote.
The children also make an appearance in a year-end video released on Dec. 19 by the couple’s Archewell Foundation.
“On behalf of the Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Archewell, we wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful new year,” the foundation wrote on its website.
The video depicts the various charitable efforts involving the royal couple over the past year. A scene in the final seconds of the video shows Lilibet helping Harry push a trolley with food items on it as Archie walks behind holding hands with Meghan.
The children joined their parents in working with Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles (OBKLA) to prepare meals for the local community ahead of Thanksgiving this year, according to People.
Meghan and Harry also included a rare photo of their children in their 2024 holiday card sent by The Archewell Foundation.

A graphic of six photos of the royal couple included one of them holding hands with Archie and Lilibet while surrounded by their three dogs.

Meghan Markle’s Christmas Special Panned as “Out of Touch” and “Cringeworthy” by Critics
The Duchess of Sussex’s holiday special is facing a global drubbing, with major outlets—led by a relentless British press—dismissing the project as a collection of stale clichés.
A Global Mixed Bag

Holiday Celebration, a standalone special of the reality series With Love, Meghan, premiered on December 3 to high expectations and even higher scrutiny. The episode follows the Duchess as she attempts to curate the perfect festive atmosphere through home decor, artisanal crafting, and high-end hosting.
Joining Meghan in her holiday bubble were several high-profile guests, including tennis star Naomi Osaka, celebrity chef Tom Colicchio, and former model Kelly Zajfen. But despite the star power, the critical consensus has been overwhelmingly frosty.

Writing for The Washington Post, TV critic Monica Hesse described Meghan’s screen presence as “forced hospitality.”
“No matter how hard Meghan tries to project sincerity, it feels grating,” Hesse observed. “Her advice oscillates between patronizingly simple and bafflingly out of touch. It’s all delivered with a level of cheer that no parent of a child under eight could possibly find relatable.”

The international reviews weren’t much kinder. Ed Power of the Irish Times called the atmosphere “dated and kitschy,” noting that Prince Harry—who makes a brief, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance at the end—looked “visibly embarrassed” to be roped into the production. Power described the hour-long special as “56 concerning minutes,” mocking a segment where New York restaurateur Will Guidara appeared to feign shock at a standard Christmas cake.
Meanwhile, Natalie Oliveri of Australia’s 9Honey dubbed it the “least festive Christmas special ever,” noting that while Americans usually excel at holiday content, this effort failed to deliver the right “vibe.”

The British Press Goes for the Jugular
Unsurprisingly, the harshest vitriol came from the U.K. media. The Daily Mail’s Annabel Fenwick Elliott slapped the special with a 0-star rating, citing the host’s “sickly pretension and lack of self-awareness.”
“If she could just tap into a bit of candor or self-deprecation, she might actually be likable,” Elliott wrote.

The Times’ Hilary Rose called the episode “incomprehensible,” mocking Meghan’s “revolutionary” tips—such as the fact that red is a festive color or that one can make an Advent calendar with “inspirational quotes.” Rose went as far as to say some of the dialogue felt like it had been “run through Google Translate.”
The Telegraph was slightly more “generous,” granting a 1-star rating. Arts editor Anita Singh described the special as “manic and a little bit sad,” highlighting an awkward segment with Naomi Osaka. “The tennis star looked like she had never met Meghan before and had no desire to do so again,” Singh quipped.
Even The Guardian, usually more measured, was scathing. Critic Lucy Mangan joked that she added a second star only out of “gratitude that we are at least safe until next year,” advising British viewers to take the “maximum dose of anti-nausea medication” before watching.

The Lone Defenders
Despite the pile-on, the Duchess did find a few allies. Sophia A. Nelson, writing for Forbes, praised the special for its aesthetic and emotional depth.
“Meghan isn’t teaching the audience how to impress; she’s showing us how to care,” Nelson argued. “In a world of over-polished, performative holiday content, this felt refreshingly human.”
Emily Ferguson of The Express also found value in the former actress’s efforts, praising the practical gift-wrapping tips and the underlying message of self-care. “It’s a balance of festive cheer and personal storytelling that will surely satisfy her core fanbase,” Ferguson wrote.
