Donald Trump Is Freaking Out Over The Bad Bunny Show On Truth Social

“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting,” Trump said.

President Donald Trump bashed Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime performance on Sunday, calling it “absolutely terrible, one of the worst.”

“It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

“This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country,” he added. “There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD.”

Donald Trump calls Bad Bunny's halftime show a ‘slap in the face' to the U.S.

Bad Bunny’s performance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, comes just a week after he won three Grammys, including Album of the Year, for January 2025′s “Debí Tirar Mas Fotos.” His was the first Spanish-language album to win the category.

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, previously performed as a guest during Shakira and Jennifer Lopez’s halftime show in 2020. As the headliner this time around, he brought Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin out as surprise performers. Several other stars, including Cardi B and Pedro Pascal, made cameos during the 13-minute performance.

Bad Bunny’s performance and his Grammy wins come at a critical time, as the Trump administration is enacting an aggressive and racist mass deportation agenda that has torn apart families and led to nationwide protests.

At the end of his incredibly inclusive and celebratory show, the Puerto Rican-born superstar shouted out numerous Spanish-speaking countries and carried a football that read “Together, We Are America.” A sign in the background said, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”

The event featured pregame performances by Charlie Puth, Brandi Carlile and Coco Jones, as well as an opening ceremony performance by Green Day.

Trump told the New York Post he was not going to attend the Super Bowl this year because it was “too far.” He also mentioned in the interview that he disliked Bad Bunny and Green Day. Both have been outspoken about the Trump administration’s anti-immigration policies.

“I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” Trump said.

Many of Trump’s followers were also upset by the halftime show announcement last year. So much so that Turning Point USA, the far-right organization founded by the late Charlie Kirk, put on an alternative performance, the “All-American Halftime Show,” with Trump ally Kid Rock.

“The All-American Halftime Show is an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a halftime show with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family, and freedom,” Turning Point spokesperson Andrew Kolvet said in a statement. “We set out to provide an entertainment option that will be fun, excellent, and exciting for the entire family while millions are gathered together for the big game.”

President Donald Trump has some thoughts on Bad Bunny being chosen to headline the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

The president called into Newsmax’s Greg Kelly Reports on Tuesday, and was asked by the host if football fans should consider “blowing off the NFL” for selecting the Puerto Rican performer, a decision that was announced on Sept. 28.

“This guy does not seem like a unifying entertainer, and a lot of folks don’t even know who he is,” Kelly said.

“I never heard of him. I don’t know who he is,” Trump replied. “I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Trump’s comments follow days of online backlash, most of it focused on the fact that Bad Bunny — real name: Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — performs primarily in Spanish and was born and raised in Puerto Rico. (Native residents of the Caribbean island have been U.S. citizens since 1917.)

Controversy also stemmed from the fact that Bad Bunny, 31, chose not to bring his record-setting Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour to the U.S., due to the Trump administration’s mass deportations and deployment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in an ongoing immigration crackdown.

“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate — I’ve performed there many times. All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent,” the performer said of his decision in an i-D cover story in September.

“But there was the issue of — like, f—ing ICE could be outside [my concert],” he added. “And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

Following the Super Bowl announcement, Bad Bunny celebrated with an X post, writing, “I’ve been thinking about it these days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I’ll do just one date in the United States.”

The “Yo Perreo Sola” singer said the career highlight performance would be “for my people, my culture, and our history.”

While hosting Saturday Night Live on Oct. 4, the rapper-singer poked fun at critics, joking they have “four months to learn” Spanish before his performance.

Days after the Super Bowl announcement, Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem threatened that ICE agents will “be all over” Super Bowl LX.

In an Oct. 4 interview with The Benny Show’s Benny Johnson, Noem, 53, confirmed that she will be sending ICE agents to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., next February for the NFL championship game, “because the Department of Homeland Security is responsible for keeping it safe.”

“I have the responsibility for making sure everybody who goes to the Super Bowl has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave, and that’s what America is about,” she continued.

“So yeah, we’ll be all over that place,” added Noem, a key player in the Trump administration’s anti-immigration efforts. “We are going to enforce the law. So I think people should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they’re law-abiding Americans who love this country.”

Johnson also asked the DHS secretary for her message to the NFL, seemingly referring to the league’s decision to have Bad Bunny perform, despite the fact that the halftime artist is chosen in partnership with the show’s producers, Apple Music and Roc Nation.

“Well, they suck and we’ll win, and God will bless us and we’ll stand and be proud of ourselves at the end of the day,” said Noem. “And they won’t be able to sleep at night, ‘cause they don’t know what they believe, and they’re so weak. We’ll fix it.”
