Information that First Son Barron Trump could be exempt from military service for medical reasons is generating significant discussion on social media, amid escalating U.S.-Iran tensions.
President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, could be exempt from military service if the U.S. institutes a general draft, due to a rather rare medical exception. This information has caught the attention of many Americans, particularly as tensions between the U.S. and Iran show signs of escalation.
Accordingly, many American citizens argue that if a full-scale war breaks out and forces the implementation of a mandatory military draft, members of the President’s family should also enlist like any other citizens.
Tensions escalated after President Trump announced in the early hours of February 28 that the U.S. and Israel had conducted airstrikes against Iran, following days of diplomatic negotiations. Shortly thereafter, Iran launched counterattacks targeting U.S. and Israeli interests in the Middle East region.

In light of this situation, some social media users have called on President Trump to make a “personal sacrifice” by having his youngest son serve in the military.
Over the weekend, the hashtag #SendBarron became a trending topic on the X platform. However, Barron Trump, 19, could be exempt from military service thanks to a medical exception related to his height.
Accordingly, Barron is reportedly as tall as 6 feet 9 inches (approximately 2.06 meters). With this height, he likely exceeds the maximum standard of the U.S. military, which typically caps around 6 feet 8 inches (approximately 2.03 meters). Height regulations are applied to ensure that soldiers can safely utilize military equipment and operate within cramped spaces such as armored vehicles, tanks, or aircraft.
If Barron is exempt from service for this reason, he will not be the first member of the Trump family to receive a military exemption.
According to The New York Times, the late podiatrist in Queens, Larry Braunstein, diagnosed Donald Trump with bone spurs in his heels in the 1960s. This diagnosis helped Mr. Trump receive an exemption from service during wartime.
The doctor’s two daughters, Elysa Braunstein and Sharon Kessel, stated that their father had recounted this story many times within the family. “It was a family lore,” Elysa Braunstein told The New York Times, noting that the topic was frequently brought up in conversations.
Before receiving the medical exemption, U.S. President Donald Trump had also deferred his military service four times due to his university studies.
Heel spurs are a condition involving the formation of bony protrusions caused by calcium buildup on the heel bone. Treatment methods can include stretching exercises, orthotics, or surgery in severe cases. President Trump stated that he has never had to undergo surgery for this condition.

Barron Trump Turns 20: A “Carbon Copy” of His Father and Unconcealed Ambitions

The youngest son of the U.S. President enters his 20s with clear business ambitions, a noteworthy net worth, and a personality described as “like his father, but calmer.”
As he turned 20 on March 20, Barron Trump, the youngest son of Donald Trump, is gradually entering a new phase of his life with a clear direction: becoming an entrepreneur.
According to close sources speaking with PEOPLE, Barron is said to have “inherited the passion for making money and building a name” from his father. At a very young age, he is described as smart, focused, and ambitious, always searching for sectors where he can expand and generate profit.
The Pressure to “Self-Assert” Within a Power Family
Despite being quite low-key compared to his siblings, Barron is reported to play a significant role in the Trump family’s cryptocurrency ventures. According to Forbes, as of September 2025, Barron’s personal net worth was estimated at around $150 million, not including millions of dollars in locked tokens that cannot yet be traded.

A source noted that Barron has pursued successful business endeavors for years, and the milestone of turning 20 marks a turning point for him to focus on projects that are both engaging and highly lucrative.
As the child who appears the least in public within the Trump family, Barron is said to have a strong drive to prove himself. “He wants to make his own mark and impress his family,” a source said.
This ambition stems not only from his father’s influence but also from a desire to be recognized by his mother, Melania Trump. However, it is his close relationship with his mother that sets Barron apart.
A political source observed: Barron is a “carbon copy of his father” in terms of mindset, yet he does not possess the impulsiveness. Instead, he carries a quiet, sophisticated demeanor with a European flair, much like his mother.

Growing Up Like an “Only Child,” Living a More Private Life
The large age gap with his siblings meant that Barron essentially grew up like an “only child.” This, coupled with coming of age under the media spotlight, has made him reserved and somewhat introverted.
However, it is that very privacy that has helped Barron become internally independent and nurture a stronger sense of ambition.
After completing his freshman year at New York University in Manhattan in 2024, Barron transferred to the Washington, D.C. campus starting in his sophomore year. This decision is believed to help him stay close to his family while gaining further access to networking opportunities and business mapping.
Some sources suggest that Barron will continue to stay in Washington for the foreseeable future due to the stable environment, high security, and numerous opportunities to access major deals.
Even so, there are still lingering concerns that being too attached to his mother could affect his personal independence. However, in the realm of business, Barron is evaluated as possessing distinct initiative.
The Next Step: Real Estate and Gen Z Startups
In the coming period, Barron is expected to focus on real estate development, particularly in areas with growth potential that align with the trends of younger buyers.
In addition, he is also participating in ventures alongside a younger generation of entrepreneurs. One of these is the beverage brand SOLLOS Yerba Mate, where Barron serves as a co-founder and director, and which has raised approximately $1 million in seed capital.
While acknowledging that a portion of his opportunities stems from his family’s network, sources argue that for an ambitious young individual like Barron, capitalizing on those opportunities is only natural.
At 20 years old, Barron Trump stands at a major crossroads: continuing to follow in his father’s footsteps in business, but doing so with a more discreet, calculated style that bears a distinct personal signature.
