Hathaway noted that she and her husband are calling this pregnancy a “buzzer-beater”—a basketball term for a scoring shot made just before the final whistle blows to end the game.

Hathaway and her husband, 45-year-old producer Adam Shulman, are already parents to two sons, 10-year-old Jonathan and 6-year-old Jack. During the show, the actress also turned to host Seth Meyers—who shares three children with his wife, Alexi Ashe—for some parenting advice.

“Do you have any advice?” Hathaway asked. Meyers jokingly replied, “Oddly, it all just kind of goes on autopilot. Once you have three, there’s not much left for you to do except… just stand back and watch.”

Hathaway first announced her pregnancy on Instagram on June 19, sharing a video captioned, “Baby, I’m yours.” In the clip, the actress appears in a flowing white dress, stepping into the frame before revealing her growing baby bump. She smiles, gently cradles her belly, and then runs out of the frame.

Over the years, Hathaway has been candid about her journey to motherhood. In her 2024 Vanity Fair cover story, she revealed that she suffered a miscarriage nearly a decade ago.

“The first time, it didn’t work out for me. So, when I was later blessed with what I had hoped for, having been on the other side—where you have to try to be happy for others—I wanted to tell women who are in that position: ‘You don’t always have to be strong or pretend you’re okay. I see you, because I was you,'” Hathaway shared

Anne Hathaway is grateful to be expecting her third baby with husband Adam Shulman.

After recently calling her baby on the way a “buzzer-beater” during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Hathaway, 43, gave insight into the deeper meaning behind the nickname.

“There’s always hope until there’s not, but when you get to a certain age, that hope looks like 1% to 2%,” she told Access Hollywood at the New York City premiere of The Odyssey on July 14.

“So we just decided to see where life took us, with a very, very healthy, realistic expectation, which was very low,” said Hathaway. “We’re overjoyed because we just know from personal experience that not everybody gets this, and certainly not when you want it—sometimes not ever.”

Hathaway said it’s a “blessing” she and Shulman “do not take for granted.”

She and Shulman, 45, who have been married since 2012, are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 actress announced her pregnancy in a video on her Instagram on June 19.

The clip showed Hathaway wearing a flowy white dress as the song “Baby I’m Yours” by Barbara Lewis plays, and she revealed her growing baby bump.

Days after the announcement, a source told PEOPLE that Hathaway is “focused on family” as she gears up to become a mom of three.

“She’s grateful for where she is in her career and for the opportunity to be part of a film that means so much to so many people,” said the source. “Complaining just isn’t Anne. She approaches things with gratitude and professionalism, and that’s exactly how she handled the press tour.”

While the sex of Hathaway’s third baby has not been made public, she opened up about her favorite parts of being a “boy mom” for her PEOPLE cover story for World’s Most Beautiful 2026.

“I’m a tomboy! I love that being a boy mom has really informed my fashion,” said Hathaway. “I have to always be able to go from a serious business meeting to, like, a basketball court. You have to be able to play pickup basketball at any point, in any outfit.”

“So [I tell myself]: When you get dressed in the morning, dress wisely because you 100 percent are going to have a projectile thrown at you probably by the end of breakfast,” she continued.

The Odyssey is in theaters July 17.

Anne Hathaway’s secret decade-long medical condition left her nearly blind throughout her 30s

The ‘Devil Wears Prada 2′ star shared the news on The New York Times’ ‘Popcast’ podcast

Anne Hathaway battled a secret medical condition for ten years before finally undergoing surgery.

During an appearance on The New York Times’ podcast “Popcast,” the “Devil Wears Prada 2” actress, 43, revealed she was “legally blind” in one eye all throughout her 30s due to an early-onset cataract.

“This is maybe too much information,” she began. “I was half blind for 10 years.”

“It impacted my vision so much that I was basically legally blind out of my left eye and I wound up getting surgery,” she continued. “And I didn’t realize how bad it had gotten until I could finally see the full spectrum.”

“I’ve calmed down since then,” Hathaway added. “I didn’t realize it was actually taxing my nervous system.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, a cataract is the clouding of the lens of the eye.

“For people who have cataracts, seeing through cloudy lenses is often like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. Clouded vision caused by cataracts can make it hard to read, drive a car at night or see the expression on a friend’s face.”

Hathaway said her current vision is a “miracle.”

“I appreciate vision because I literally feel like every day, I wake up and I get to see the way that I do, it’s a miracle,” the actress continued. “I actually am like, ‘Oh, two generations back, that wouldn’t have been an option for someone like me.’ So, I actually do feel very connected to that kind of a miracle.”

Most recently, Hathaway fired back at plastic surgery rumors circulating online despite having a “preference” to “never comment on anything” and “not draw attention” to herself.

“We’re at a time when people feel very confident in assuming what they think is fact, and sometimes what they think is accurate and sometimes it’s not,” Hathaway said.

“The speculation has gotten so loud that you do feel the need to just get your truth out there,” she continued. “And I’ll probably always wonder, ‘Should I have posted that or not? Should I have just kept going and done the thing that makes me happy and makes me feel more confident on the red carpet?’ But I felt like the conversation was becoming distracting.”

“Also, by the way, these are huge medical decisions that people are presuming,” she added. “I wanted to show that like, no, I didn’t make a huge medical decision. It’s just two braids.”

She then confessed, “By the way, the other thing about all this is, I might still get a facelift someday.”
