The 007 star was spotted dining with his son, Christopher, for the first time in 20 years after the actor famously cut ties over Christopher’s refusal to seek treatment.
Pierce Brosnan and his eldest son, Christopher, appear to be mending their fractured relationship. The 72-year-old actor and Christopher, 52, were seen enjoying a dinner in London’s Notting Hill last week. They were joined by Pierce’s younger son, Dylan, 28, with the trio appearing relaxed and upbeat as they left the restaurant together.
“The two of them looked happy and at ease while dining with Dylan,” a source told The Mirror. “Pierce and Christopher have had their tensions in the past, but it seems they’ve put that behind them. It’s wonderful to see them together again.”

A Decades-Long Estrangement
The reunion marks a rare public appearance for Christopher, who has spent years living in the shadow of addiction and legal troubles. In 2005, the James Bond star admitted he had been forced to sever ties with Christopher due to his son’s spiral into substance abuse.
In a candid interview with Playboy at the time, Pierce shared the heartbreak of watching his son struggle. “Christopher is still very much lost. I know where he is, but all I can do is pray and believe that he will find himself,” he said. “He’s tested the endurance of everyone in the family, but no one has been tested more than himself.”

The actor explained that because Christopher refused help, he had to make the agonizing decision to step back. “You never truly cut someone off completely, but I had to say to Christopher, ‘Go, live a positive life, or prepare for death.’ I always pray for him.”

A Career Cut Short by Hardship
Early in his life, Christopher followed in his father’s footsteps, working as an assistant director on two of Pierce’s Bond films, including The World Is Not Enough. He also appeared on the original series of Love Island in 2005. However, his life took a dark turn as he struggled with heroin and alcohol.
His battle with addiction nearly turned fatal in 2002 after a drug overdose, which led to a stint in a high-end rehab facility costing £500 a day. His legal woes mounted as well; he was arrested for heroin possession in 2005 and served three months in prison for a DUI in 1997—his second such offense in two years. Over the years, he was also involved in high-profile nightclub altercations and a theft investigation that was later dropped.

A Legacy of Loss
The roots of Christopher’s struggles are often linked to the profound tragedies he endured. He is the biological son of Pierce’s first wife, Cassandra Harris, and her previous husband, Dermot Harris. Following Dermot’s death in 1986, Pierce formally adopted Christopher and his sister, Charlotte, raising them as his own.
The family was devastated in 1991 when Cassandra died of ovarian cancer, a loss that reportedly sent Christopher into a tailspin. Tragedy struck again in 2013 when his sister, Charlotte, died of the same disease at age 41.
In addition to Christopher and Charlotte, Pierce has a son, Sean, 42, with Cassandra. In 2001, Pierce married journalist Keely Shaye Smith, with whom he shares sons Dylan and Paris.

When it comes to his enviable head of hair, Pierce Brosnan credits the luck of the Irish.
At the premiere of his latest film, The Thursday Murder Club, on Thursday, Aug. 14, the 72-year-old actor, who was born in County Louth, Ireland, revealed his theories behind why he and other Irish men seem to have such great hair.
“It’s all in the hair, the old Celtic hair,” he told Page Six, noting that his father also “had good hair.”
Brosnan then joked that Irish staples such as “potatoes, butter” and even “the Guinness” contribute.
As for how he appears to be aging so gracefully, the star told the outlet, “I’m doing my best!”
It seems Brosnan’s son Dylan has inherited his dad’s great hair genes, as the 28-year-old walked the red carpet at Thursday’s premiere, showcasing stylish hair worn slightly longer than the Mamma Mia! star’s. The duo posed for photos together, with Dylan towering over Brosnan.

In 2024, Brosnan teased that he thinks he’s still got what it takes to play James Bond once again. The star famously portrayed the iconic British spy in four of the franchise’s films from 1995 to 2002.
During an appearance on the Today show in April 2024, Brosnan said he believes he “could get away with” coming back — “in a pinch.”
“Let’s see where the wind takes us. Let’s see what happens. They know where to find me,” he continued when asked if he was game to stage a Bond comeback. “Why not?”

He added, “I mean, there’s great things you can do with AI as well, so there you have it. I’m quite content the way it is.”

While a number of names have been thrown out as possible contenders to take over the Bond role after Daniel Craig, Brosnan has previously shared the one requirement he thinks the next actor to play 007 must have.
In a March interview with The Telegraph, Brosnan said it’s a “given” that the next Bond star be British.
In his latest movie, The Thursday Murder Club, which is directed by Chris Columbus, Brosnan stars alongside Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie. The four play U.K. retirement home residents who become amateur sleuths, solving cold-case murders for fun.
Earlier this year, Brosnan told PEOPLE he jumped at the opportunity to work with Columbus again after the pair previously worked together on Mrs. Doubtfire.
“[It’s] a film that I hold close to my heart,” he said of the 1993 family comedy. “So when I got the call from Chris, that he was making a movie of The Thursday Murder Club, I was halfway there already. By the time I’d read the book by Richard Osman, I was completely hooked.”
