It Ends With Us director and his wife, Emily, shared five-minute Instagram video on ‘traumatic’ experience

Justin Baldoni has spoken out about his legal battle with Blake Lively for the first time.
In a five-minute Instagram video recorded with his wife, Emily, Baldoni talked about the “injustice and pain” that he says the couple endured in the year-long legal battle with his It Ends With Us co-star.
“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say, because Lord knows we have,” Baldoni. “But … it just didn’t feel like the right time.”
He added that the experience had taught the couple the importance of their friends, family and faith: “Gratitude has saved us.”
Baldoni and Lively’s year-and-a-half legal fight ended on 4 May when both parties agreed to settle Lively’s breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting in retaliation lawsuit. The settlement ensured that the suit did not go to trial.

Lively filed in late June for more than $8m in legal fees from Baldoni and his studio; Baldoni has until 13 July to either challenge her claim or pay the amount.
“We’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things,” said Emily Baldoni. “Like, how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women.
“The truth is, reality is, is that there’s been a lot of trauma for us to move through as a family.”
Baldoni also offered thanks to his supporters for standing by his side during the legal fight. “There were so many of you who, when we didn’t have a voice, were our voice,” he said. “So many of you had discernment, and you used your intuition, and you trusted that.
“You have given your time to fight for us. And thank you does not feel like enough.”
Emily Baldoni indicated that the couple would continue to share their side of the story. “There is so much more to say,” she said. “That time will come, but for now, we are going to focus on continuing the healing and hanging out with our kiddos and enjoying life.”
The Guardian has reached out to Lively’s representative for comment.

Blake Lively And Ryan Reynolds
Seen Chowing Down In Canada …
Hours Before Baldoni Video Statement

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were seen dining together in Canada just hours before Justin Baldoni spoke out for the first time about the whole “It Ends With Us” scandal.
TMZ obtained photos of Blake and Ryan hanging out on Wednesday afternoon … with the couple grabbing a late lunch on the rooftop of a Mexican restaurant.

Our sources say Ryan left the eatery first and walked to his vehicle parked in a lot nearby. Shortly thereafter, Blake exited the restaurant with two assistants and waved goodbye to staff before they went shopping in a boutique store.
At one point, we’re told, Ryan joined the trio inside the store, and then they left minutes later, heading to the parking lot.
Several hours after that, Justin Baldoni posted a video statement addressing the fallout from Blake’s sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit stemming from their 2024 film, “It Ends With Us.”
Sitting alongside his wife Emily, the pair said they endured two years of pain and injustice, but they stayed quiet until now to let the legal process play out.
Emily also took a dig at Blake, saying the actress “disguised” her lawsuit as a fight for women, a clear reference to the judge throwing out Blake’s sexual harassment allegation against Emily’s husband, who was the director of the movie.
Justin and Emily went on to say they’re now healing from all the trauma and thanked their many supporters for their well-wishes.
Blake Lively
Justin Needs to Pay me $8M, Judge!

Blake Lively wants Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer to be on the hook for just north of $8 million in attorneys’ fees and court costs after his defamation lawsuit against her was tossed out … TMZ has learned.
In new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, the “It Ends With Us” star requests a judge grant her $7,495,526.87 in attorneys’ fees she incurred in fighting his lawsuit, plus $539,514.01 in court costs and expenses incurred while defending herself.

As we told you, Justin’s $400 million defamation lawsuit against Blake was tossed out … and a judge recently ruled Justin would need to cover her legal bills, although Blake was turned down in her attempt to get other damages in the case.
And, as you know, Blake’s win on the legal fees comes after she and Justin settled their years-long legal battle in May … just before the trial was set to begin on her claims of breach of contract and retaliation.

You may recall, Blake claimed she’d lost millions as a result of an alleged smear campaign engineered by Justin and his team during the fallout from their film … and she also made claims of sexual harassment. But most of her claims were ultimately dismissed, aside from the breach of contract and retaliation.
Now, the court just needs to wrap up these loose ends … and it will be interesting to see if Justin and Wayfarer end up cutting Blake a fat check.
Stay tuned …
Justin and Emily Baldoni speak of ‘painful things,’ ‘injustice’ in first video since Blake Lively lawsuits
It Ends With Us stars were embroiled in high stakes legal battle over harassment, smear claims

It hasn’t ended with either of them just yet.
Justin Baldoni, the star and director of the film It Ends With Us, says he can finally speak out about the bitter feud between him and his co-star Blake Lively.
In a nearly five-minute video posted on his official Instagram account on Thursday, Baldoni and wife Emily Baldoni expressed “gratitude” to fans for supporting him.
He described how the couple is “healing” after going through “something traumatic,” referring to the acrimonious legal battles between him and Lively.
“What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken into existence over the last couple years,” he said.
“And that created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise, so we just wanted to let the justice system run its course, and the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves.”
The pair described the “injustice” they feel they have experienced.
“We’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women,” Emily Baldoni said.
Harassment claims and ‘smear’ campaigns
Lively, wife of Vancouver-born Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during the film’s production and alleged he conducted a co-ordinated attack on her reputation, suing him and his Wayfarer Studios production company in a $250-million US defamation suit.
That was just hours after Baldoni, now 42, filed a $400-million libel suit against the now 38-year-old actress, Reynolds, their publicist Leslie Sloane and the New York Times, which published details of Lively’s claims of an alleged smear campaign in a December 2024 article.
A New York judge dismissed Baldoni’s suit in June 2025; the same judge tossed out Lively’s sexual harassment claim in April of this year.
Both sides agreed to settle their civil case in May — just two weeks before going to trial.

In a joint statement issued through lawyers following the civil case settlement, Lively and Baldoni said: “It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”
The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Lively, however, did not receive compensation in the settlement but was awarded legal fees, but not damages, under California law.
She’s now seeking $8 million in legal costs from Baldoni, according to a claim her lawyers filed in court on June 30.
It Ends With Us, based on the 2016 novel by U.S. author Colleen Hoover, centres on the abusive relationship between a florist, played by Lively, and a neurosurgeon, played by Baldoni.
It wound up being a box office hit, grossing $351 million US (nearly $500 million Cdn) worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo, making it the 20th highest grossing film of 2024.
The Baldonis insist they have “so much more to say” but will do so when the time comes.
For her part, Lively has yet to put out any reaction to the Baldonis video. Her most recent social media post regarding the legal fight came after the dismissal of her sexual harassment claim.
“The physical pain form digital violence is very real. It’s abuse,” she wrote in a statement posted on Instagram on April 6.
“If you’re looking, my claims won’t be the first or last time you see examples of the extreme dangers of retaliation or digital warfare. And it often won’t be directed at celebrities or those who may [be] able to speak up.”
