  • A mom slammed a restaurant for making her family — including her 14-month-old daughter — sit in a kids’ section
  • The woman said in a Mumsnet post that children were creating an “absolute racket” in the area, ruining her dining experience
  • Forum users criticized the mom, with many supporting the restaurant for having separate sections

A mother has taken issue with a restaurant for seating her family in a kids’ area — even though her young daughter was with them.

In a post on the U.K.-based forum Mumsnet, the woman said she, her husband and their 14-month-old child were seated in the specific area of the restaurant, resulting in an unpleasant dining experience.

“Despite there being a lot of seats spare in every area, we were told we had to be seated in the dedicated children’s area,” the mom wrote.

She then complained that the children were creating an “absolute racket” in the area, ruining her mealtime.

Asking if she was being “ridiculous” for her views on the matter, the majority of Mumsnet users agreed she was.

“Sounds like a great idea to me, and I wish more restaurants would do it,” one person without children responded in the comment section. “Why should I be subjected to an absolute racket?”

“It makes sense to seat all families with children in that area,” a second person said, adding: “It keeps the adult-only areas quieter and keeps mess/spillages more contained as well.”

Another mother agreed that it is a good idea to have groups with children separated from adults without.

“This sounds great to me, and I have an 18-month-old,” she wrote. “I don’t have to worry about him disrupting anyone else’s meal when he decides he doesn’t want to sit nicely in the highchair.”

Another person in the comments section suggested that the restaurant was “trying to find a balance” to keep their diners “as happy as possible.”

“Personally, I think it’s fine to allocate an area to groups eating with young children, with facilities that appeal to many of them,” the user said.

Woman Left Family Party Early After Guest Brought Up ‘Single Biggest Insecurity’ About Her Hair: ‘I’m Ashamed and Embarrassed’

  • A woman left a family party early after an insecurity of hers was mentioned by one guest in attendance
  • She wrote on Reddit that she “froze up” after the comment was made during a 95th birthday celebration for her husband’s grandma
  • “I’m ashamed and embarrassed by it. It’s my single biggest insecurity,” the woman said

A woman is upset after her “single biggest insecurity” became the topic of conversation during a recent family gathering.

In a post on Reddit’s “Am I the A——” forum, the woman, 29, wrote that she and her husband, 32, recently attended their “first big family get together as a couple” — his grandma’s 95th birthday celebration.

Detailing that it took place at a restaurant with “maybe 30 to 40 people” in attendance, she said introductions were made to various family members, including one of her husband’s aunts.

Already uncomfortable with a hug given without permission, the woman said things got worse with the aunt when her husband’s family member mentioned how his mom spoke about her wig use.

“Your wig looks amazing. I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t been told,” the woman claimed her husband’s aunt told her.

Recalling how she “just froze up” after the comment was made, the woman said, “I do my best to hide [that] I wear wigs. I’m ashamed and embarrassed by it. It’s my single biggest insecurity.”

“Only a handful of people know,” she continued, adding: “My mother-in-law was informed in case she ever came to our house and saw me unexpectedly.”

According to the woman, as her husband’s aunt kept talking about her use of wigs, other family members caught on and got involved in the conversation. “Some were rude, some were respectful, but the fact they knew, and the only way they would have been told, was [by] my mother-in-law,” she wrote.

The woman and her husband eventually opted to leave the party after the Redditor said she suffered an “anxiety attack.” However, the man’s family was not happy with the decision, as the woman said they were criticized for being “rude and disrespectful for leaving so soon into the night” and were told they “made idiots” of themselves.

As she wondered if she was wrong for how the situation was handled, the woman was met with support from other Reddit users, many of whom applauded her husband.

“Your husband has your back and is handling this the right way,” one person wrote, as others praised him as “a keeper,” “amazing” and “a good egg.”

The comments section was also filled with Redditors who felt the mother-in-law was in the wrong, given she opened up about her daughter-in-law’s wig use — despite being asked not to.

“Someone’s personal care situation is no one’s business,” one wrote. “Your mother-in-law has an issue with personal boundaries. I think what you did was understandable.”

Added another of the in-law: “If she is willing to do this to your personal information, imagine what will happen if you have kids. She has already shown that she is not willing to protect your privacy and keep personal information to herself.”
