Florida Mom Gives Birth to Hospital’s ‘Biggest Baby’ in Its 10-Year History, Shocking the Nurses and Doctors

The doting mom told ‘Today’ that she ‘didn’t expect such a big blessing’

Daniella Hines got a big surprise when she delivered her son.

The doting mom, 40, delivered her son Annan on Sept. 3 at St. Joseph’s Hospital-South in Riverview, Florida, weighing 13 lbs., 15 oz., according to Today. According to the University of Rochester Medical Center, the average weight of a newborn baby is about 7 lbs., making Hines’ son nearly double the size.

Unlike when she delivered her older son, Andre Jr., who came into the world weighing 12 lbs., 11 oz., Hines felt something different.

“He was the talk of the maternity ward!” Hines, 40, told the outlet. “I remember thinking, ‘What are they pulling out of me?’ What is going on here?’ I felt so much pressure.”

After seeing the newborn for the first time, the strange feeling made more sense to her.

“He was so big. I was like, ‘Whose baby is this? He came out of me?’ ” Hines told Today. “Then everybody starts coming in because it’s not every day you see an almost 14-pound baby pop out. He was like a little celebrity.”

She added, “I can’t wait to show him when he gets older: ‘Look, you were in the news!'”

 

The entrepreneur and her husband, Andre Sr., are both over 6 feet tall, an attribute that Hines told Today she thinks played a role in her son’s size.

With the newborn being just a week old, the proud mom told Today that he is a “really chill” baby.

Hines also shared with the outlet that the one time her baby may get a little antsy is when he’s hungry.

Overall, the mom is happy to have welcomed her baby son into the family.

“We didn’t expect such a big blessing,” Hines told Today. “But it’s just more to love!”
