Actress Andrea Evans is probably best known for her role as Tina Lord on the daytime soap opera “One Life to Live.” Other notable credits include “Passions,” “DeVanity,” “Low Down Dirty Shame,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Bay,” “Ice Cream Man” and “Hit List.”
Sadly, Evans passed away on Sunday July 9, 2023, at the age of 66 years old. According to IMDB, her cause of death was breast cancer. Her manager, Nick Leicht, told PEOPLE, “I’ve been working with Andrea for the past 7 years. She was such a tremendous talent and an absolute joy to work with.”
Upon hearing the news of Evans’ death, many of her former costars and famous friends shared touching tributes. Frank Valentini, who used to be the executive producer of “One Life to Live,” tweeted, “I am so sorry to learn of Andrea Evans’ passing. Andrea was already a huge star when my career began at OLTL. She was always kind, gracious, and so fun to work with. A daytime legend who will be missed very much. My sympathies to her friends and family.”
Kassie DePavia wrote on Facebook, “So sadden to hear of this talented actress’s passing. She helped put OLTL in the spotlight. Cancer sucks!”
Actor Eric Martsolf also wrote on Facebook, “We lost Andrea Evans. She was wildly responsible and for showing me that working in Daytime doesn’t have to feel like work at all. I will miss the sparkle in her eyes when she smiled, which was seemingly all the time. Rest in peace Andrea, and thank you for all you gave.”
Evans started playing Tina on “One Life to Live” back in 1979, but she abruptly quit the show in the 1990s. She was always one of the most requested characters to return to the show, and in 2008, she did just that. Watch the video below to learn about her return to the show and why she decided to quit the show in the 1990s.
I can’t believe this. I don’t have the words to say. I’m just shocked right now. My prayers are with Andrea Evans Family during this time. Tina Lord is one of my favorite OLTL characters. I loved Tina so much along with her pairing with Cord. RIP Andrea Evans 😢 😢 😢 #OLTL pic.twitter.com/4VO2qnIVKU
