Kelly Ripa admits she’s ‘very concerned’ over close friend David Muir’s appearance on LIVE!

David Muir reunited with his close friends Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos during the July 3 episode of LIVE! The ABC World News Tonight anchor appeared on the show to promote the network and Disney’s special Fourth of July event, with a 24-hour live broadcast.

Coverage kicks off at 10 p.m. on Friday with a look inside the Statue of Liberty. David will be at the front and centre of the coverage, which extends overnights, into Saturday morning. MrBeast, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Brandi Carlile and Nick Jonas are among those set to make appearances.

“You’re doing 24 hours?” Mark asked the news anchor during the broadcast. “Yeah, 24 hours,” replied David.

“What! Shouldn’t you be sleeping right now, I’m very concerned,” added Kelly.

“Saturday morning 5 a.m. I’m going to be live on top of the Walt Disney building overlooking the Hudson River,” explained David.

David Muir’s friendship with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos

Kelly’s concern over David’s long night doesn’t come as a surprise given their friendship. David has shared a close relationship with Mark, and his wife, Kelly Ripa, for many years, dating back to his early days with the primetime news hour. David has made frequent appearances on LIVE! as a guest of Kelly and Mark’s, with the two often sharing details of family vacations taken together.

Back in April, David congratulated both Mark and his son, Joaquin, for their appearances on Broadway. The fellow ABC anchor took to Instagram following the Broadway show Fallen Angels to share his review of the night.

“@instasuelos congratulations! This cast is incredible – a hilarious escape @fullyrosebyrne @kelliohara My face hurt,” penned David on social media.

Fallen Angels began previews on March 27 before opening on April 19, ending its limited engagement on June 7 at the Todd Haimes Theatre.

On April 9, Joaquin officially made his Broadway debut, playing “Young Biff” in the newest revival of Death of a Salesman, which stars Nathan Lane, Laurie Metcalf and Christopher Abbott.

“Scenes from opening night of the brilliant @salesmanonbroadway directed by the incomparable Joe Mantello,” penned Kelly on Instagram. “Congratulations to the entire cast and crew on this astonishing revival, and to @joaquinconsuelos on your Broadway debut! Thank you @bruglikas for capturing the moments.” David was one of the first people to comment, leaving a simple heart emoji, and later reposted it as well.

David Muir Triggers Fan Concern With ‘Terrifying’ Statue of Liberty Photo

David Muir triggered fan concern with a “terrifying” new photo of himself after scaling a restricted landmark — the Statue of Liberty — as part of the “Disney Celebrates America” event kicking off on the Fourth of July weekend.

On July 2, the ABC World News Tonight anchor and 20/20 co-anchor, 52, took to Instagram with the breathtaking snapshot. “Getting ready to take you 305 feet up,” Muir captioned his update. “We climbed up through Lady Liberty’s right arm to reach the torch.”

In the featured image, the journalist looked out into the distance from the top of the Statue of Liberty, with his hair blowing in the wind and a smile on his face. Instagram followers expressed concern in the comments, with one advising, “Be careful, David Muir, it seems very dangerous,” alongside a flushed-face emoji.

“Yikes,” another commented, as a third echoed, “Be careful, especially of winds!”

Someone else shared, “Can’t wait. But I am so scared of heights, even if I see it on a screen.”

Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user declared, “I can’t wait to see this! This is so exciting! Be careful on those stairs!”

During an interview with USA Today published on July 1, Muir recounted climbing a narrow 40-foot ladder to the Statue of Liberty’s torch.

“Climbing the ladder itself was more terrifying than standing up on the platform,” he confessed. “You just hear the audio of me saying, ‘I’m not going back down.’ We’re not doing this twice.”Additionally, Muir recalled asking the park ranger helping him during the climb how many people were allowed to go up there, to which the ranger replied, “Nobody.”

“Once you’re up there, you are just in complete awe of the beauty of New York Harbor,” he told USA Today. “And you immediately think of the people who came into the harbor on those ships and thought, ‘I’m getting a chance at a new life.'”

The “Disney Celebrates America” event begins on Friday, July 3, at 10 p.m. ET; it can be streamed on Disney+, Hulu, ABC, ABC New Live, ESPN, National Geographic, FX, and Freeform.
