Jessica Biel reveals she’s sick and shares the sweet gesture from her sons

Jessica Biel has always maintained her kids’ privacy, but she has been sharing rare insight into her life as a mother. The 43-year-old revealed that she is sick, and her boys, Silas, 10, and Phineas, 5, made the sweetest gesture to make her feel better.

On Thursday, the actress shared a photo of sunflowers and the cutest handwritten note on a paper towel taped to the bouquet: “We hope you feel better soon, Mommy. We love you,” they wrote with excellent penmanship, adding hearts around it.

The Bleeding Heart star couldn’t help but share the gesture with her 14 million followers, writing in the caption, “My kids are the best.” She did not reveal what she is battling, but hopefully it’s just a summer cold.

It’s a small glimpse into family life for Biel and her husband Justin Timberlake, who usually keep their children out of the spotlight. But lately, Biel has been opening up more, giving fans peeks into their world.

Along with the handwritten note and bouquet, last week, Biel shared a photo of Silas and Phineas hugging outdoors with their skateboards and scooters.

While their faces were hidden, the photo showed the brothers’ adorable bond.

Of course, the celebrity parents can’t shield their kids from the world forever. As they get older, they’re figuring it out together, which Biel admits can get “tricky.” “We do really try hard not to expose them in a way that they’re not comfortable with,” she told InStyle.

Last year, she brought Silas to the U.S. Open, and she told the outlet they had talked about it beforehand about cameras and whether he felt comfortable being there.

We talked about photographers. You know, “Are you comfortable with that?”‘ She explained. “He can’t make these decisions on his own, but at this point, we can at least discuss what his opinion is around it.”

Biel’s update also comes on the heels of Justin’s recent health news. The “Mirrors” singer revealed in July that he’d been diagnosed with Lyme disease, explaining the fatigue, nerve pain, and onstage struggles fans had noticed during his tour.

In his announcement, he said he wasn’t looking for sympathy but wanted to raise awareness: “Living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically.”

He also reflected on being raised to keep personal struggles private, noting that he is now striving for more transparency to help others who might be experiencing similar health issues.

Jessica Biel is on the mend after her sons gave her a sweet get-well gift.

Biel, 43, shared photos of a bouquet of sunflowers wrapped in brown paper – with a message written on a napkin taped to the outside. “Get Well Soon Mommy! We Love You!” the note read, and was surrounded by small hearts.

“My kids are the best ♥️,” the actress wrote in the caption of the Instagram post, shared on Thursday, Aug. 21.

“I try to be conscious of making sure we can live a life where we’re not weirdly private,” the “Mirrors” singer, 44, said during an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast in 2021. “But we’re conscious of making sure they can be kids for as long as possible and not have the weight of somebody else treating them differently because of something that their parents do.”

Biel’s illness comes shortly after Timberlake’s Lyme disease diagnosis. On Aug. 3, a family source told PEOPLE exclusively, “He’s not 20 anymore. But when his symptoms worsened, he realized something deeper was going on.”

The source elaborated, “He pushed through for months before finally getting answers. The Lyme disease diagnosis brought clarity to a series of unexplained issues that he’s been quietly dealing with.”

Biel “felt like something was off” with her husband’s health and “encouraged him to get checked out,” the source added. “She could tell that he wasn’t himself. She’s incredibly supportive.”

Timberlake announced his diagnosis in a candid Instagram post shared on July 31, telling fans that he wanted to “shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes.” The revelation came amid critiques of his performances toward the end of his concert run.

Biel most recently starred with Elizabeth Banks in The Better Sister, which was released on Prime Video in May.

However, as Star previously reported, the former ‘NSync singer had some major damage control to do in his marriage after he was arrested for DWI last summer.

Still, Biel stood by her man — and now, it’s time to focus on herself. “It’s a real switch in the balance of power for these two: In years gone by, Jessica would drop everything to put Justin number one,” the source explains. “Now she seems content to have a somewhat separate life.”

As Star previously reported, Timberlake revealed in July after wrapping up the tour that he had been diagnosed with Lyme Disease, noting he was doing so to be “more transparent about my struggles so that they aren’t misinterpreted.”

Though the source admits Biel “feels badly for Justin,” the 7th Heaven alum is “proud of him for facing these health issues head-on.”

Still, that doesn’t mean she’s going to put her life on the back-burner anymore: “She’s got to take care of herself,” adds the source, “and keep the momentum with her thriving career.”

As for her co-star? “Elizabeth is a dynamic, incredible human. More than anything, we just had a lot of fun—fun sparring with each other every day, kind of being bitchy to each other,” Biel gushed. “I adore her, and I think she adores me too. We had a great friendship off-camera.”

“Family summer vibes,” Jessica wrote in the caption. The post also featured a glowing selfie of the brunette beauty, a shot of a rainbow over a lake, and an ice cream boat.

Jessica’s insight into the family’s serene summer vacation comes just two weeks after her husband Justin revealed that he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease, following complaints of his lacklustre concert performances.

The former *NSYNC member took to social media to share the news, writing his intention to “shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes”.

“Among other things, I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease – which I don’t say so you feel bad for me,” he explained. “Living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically.”

“When I first got the diagnosis, I was shocked for sure,” he continued. “But, at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness.”

“I was reluctant to talk about this because I was always raised to keep something like this to yourself. But I am trying to be more transparent about my struggles so that they aren’t misinterpreted.”

Justin added that he wanted to bring awareness to the disease in the hopes of helping others.

Settling down

Jessica and Justin opted to move away from the chaos of Los Angeles after listing their home in 2021 for $35 million.

The family of four then settled down in Big Sky, Montana, which has become a hub for celebrities in recent years thanks to the exclusive Yellowstone Club, a members-only ski and golf resort that sits on 13,600 acres of land.

Speaking to InStyle in May, Jessica shared that her typical day in Big Sky includes skiing with her husband in the morning, and then picking up their kids for another ski session in the afternoon.

“Spending time with the family unit is a huge priority right now, because I’ve been gone, Justin’s been gone,” she told the publication.

“These moments at this time feel kind of priceless…We’re doing the same thing every other parent is doing: ‘Okay, tennis. You got the tennis? I’ll get the thing,'” she added.

Justin and Jessica like to keep their kids away from the spotlight

“Sometimes we do a good job; we try to have one of us working full-time, only one. It doesn’t always happen, because the opportunities arise and the timing is what it is. You just have to take advantage of it.”

The duo are fiercely protective of their boys and have explained several times that they want to keep them off social media for as long as possible, until Phineas and Silas can decide for themselves.
