There is no greater happiness for our furry fellows than to be in a warm home with a loving family.
Unfortunately, today dogs that can live such a life are truly blessed because many of their canine brothers and sisters are forced to spend their lives on the street or between the four walls of their kennel.
One dog named Max truly enjoyed a good life for almost eight years in a loving home. However, then the worst thing in his life happened – his parents suddenly surrendered him to a shelter in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Max was devastated…
His World Turned Upside Down
A woman named Sarah Brown recorded Max in his kennel right after he was surrendered to the Pennsylvania SPCA shelter, located in Philadelphia.
In the TikTok video she posted on July 6, 2024, via her account @sarahbrown701, a heartbreaking scene of the confused Max tucked to the side of his kennel can be seen.
His blank stare as well as his depressed body position best show what state this dog was in at that moment. This is not strange considering that after so many years spent in the arms of those he loved the most, he suddenly found himself in this cold place all alone.
“The only family youve ever known returns you to the shelter after adopting you as a puppy 8 years ago,” it is stated in the video.
@sarahbrown701 This job breaks my heart daily.💔 Max will be looking for a new home shortly at @The Pennsylvania SPCA. #adoptdontshop #adoptolddogs #fyp #pspca #spca

This same video attracted a lot of attention and there were many reactions from the numerous viewers.
“This should be a crime 😭” one user wrote.
“I just can’t imagine loving a baby for 8 years and discarding them as if it were nothing, leaving them confused and scared,” another added.
And the third quipped: “How could people do this? Ugh, I know he will find a new family that loves him forever.”
Good News Thanks To Good People
According to the ASPCA, about 3.1 million dogs belong to the 6.3 million companion animals that enter U.S. shelters every year. Although the number has declined since 2011, it is still huge.
There are many reasons why owners leave their pets in shelters, including the arrival of a baby, a new job, relocating, financial struggles, divorce, and many others.
Sarah told Newsweek that these owners surrendered Max due to “unexpected housing changes.” Whatever the reason, it is truly a heartbreaking decision, especially after eight years spent together.
Yet, a group of good people at the shelter were determined to do anything to put a smile on this dog’s face. We don’t even have to tell you that they were more than successful.
Enjoy!
@sarahbrown701 Replying to @Adriana Perovic They say everyone comes into your life for a reason. I think its the same for dogs. ❤️ Thank you to Max’s old friends who have turned into his new family.
