The bond between a dog and its owner is a beautiful thing – there’s a reason why they are called “man’s best friend.”

Having a dog in the house really turns it into a home, and although they can often get up to mischief and leave muddy footprints everywhere, that’s just part of their charm.

So when one of our canine companions gets sick, it’s a genuinely concerning matter and is treated as if a family member were unwell.

Sadly, for Matt Galatzan, this became a reality when his beloved dog was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer.

What followed must have been a very hard time, as with images shared on Matt’s socials, his beloved dog had a scar on his head indicating that an operation had taken place.

Thankfully, Matt’s dog defeated cancer and was treated to an incredible feast to celebrate.

Posting on X, Matt wrote: “My dog was declared cancer free today so I’m reverse searing him a steak.”

Matt also called him “The real MVP.”

Based on the video that followed the image, the steak was thoroughly enjoyed as a well-earned meal for defeating such a horrific illness.

People flooded their comments with their well-wishes, with one person writing: “WHAT A SWEET, GOOD BOY WHO DESERVES ALL THE STEAK.”

A second person said: “That just got me all choked up. Good doggo!! I hope he enjoys the heck out of that steak and I hope you enjoy watching him enjoy it. What an awesome day!!”

While a third wrote: “I’m thinking a good dog like that should have a steak everyday! Congratulations to both of you on his recovery!”

Others noted the the scar on the dog’s head looked like a “Harry Potter” scar and was a symbol that he had overcome something incredibly difficult.

Sadly, the dog is no longer with us but judging by the video, he lived an incredibly loved life full of steak, cuddles and long walks.

Matt often shares his other dogs on his social media accounts, and it looks as though they are getting just as much love and attention.
