Ghislaine Maxwell told DOJ Trump never did anything concerning around her: Sources

The Trump administration is considering releasing transcripts of the interview.

During her nine hours speaking with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche last month, Ghislaine Maxwell said nothing during the interview that would be harmful to President Donald Trump, telling Blanche that Trump had never done anything in her presence that would have caused concern, according to sources familiar with what Maxwell said.

The Trump administration, meanwhile, is considering publicly releasing the transcripts from the interview, multiple sources familiar with the internal discussions told ABC News.

Maxwell’s meetings with Blanche took place for nine hours over two days.

There is also an audio recording of the interview, the sources said, but it’s not clear whether the administration plans to release the audio to accompany any public release of the transcript.

The public release of the transcripts could come as soon as this week, the sources said.

Maxwell, an associate of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, was convicted of sex trafficking and other charges and sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022, which she was serving at a federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida, until her recent move to a more relaxed federal prison camp in Texas. She is appealing her conviction to the U.S. Supreme Court.

ABC previously reported that it was Maxwell who requested the interview with the DOJ, according to sources familiar with the matter. Maxwell is also asking the Supreme Court to review her conviction and Trump has not ruled out a pardon for her.

Maxwell’s lawyer, David Markus, said following her meetings with Blanche that Maxwell “would welcome any relief.” He also said Maxwell was asked about “one hundred different people,” and said “she didn’t hold anything back.”

Trump, asked Tuesday whether he approved the prison transfer for Maxwell, said, “I didn’t know about it at all, no. I read about it just like you did. It’s not a very uncommon thing,”

Trump also just said that anything Blanche discussed with Maxwell during his meetings with her would be “totally above board.”

Following his first day of meetings with Maxwell, Blanche tweeted that “The Department of Justice will share additional information about what we learned at the appropriate time.”

CNN first reported the administration was considering releasing the transcripts.

In an interview with Newsmax last week, when asked when Americans could hear about the contents of the meeting, Trump said: “I don’t know, because I haven’t spoken about it, but he’s a very talented guy, Todd Blanche, and a very straight shooter, and I think he probably wanted to know, you know, just to get a feeling of it, because we’d like to release everything, but we don’t want people to get hurt that shouldn’t be hurt. And I would assume that was why he was there. I want to release everything. I just don’t want people to get hurt.”

Neither the the White House or the DOJ immediately responded to a request for comment from ABC News.

Trump takes unusual stroll on White House roof

The president was apparently inspecting future construction.

Ever the developer-in-chief, President Donald Trump made a surprise appearance on the White House roof above the briefing room in an apparent effort to inspect future construction.

The press, which had been pushed significantly down the driveway, attempted to figure out what was going on.

“Mr. President, what are you doing up there?”

“Just taking a little walk,” he shouted back.

“What are you building?”

“It goes with the ballroom, which is on the other side,” he said.

Pressed again by reporters, Trump said “Something beautiful,” while pantomiming with his hands.

Trump said it was “Just more ways to spend my money,” adding “Just more ways to spend my money for the country.”

“Anything I do is financed by me,” he stressed.

Asked if he was considering an addition or a second story, Trump wouldn’t say.

The president was accompanied by a small group of aides and Secret Service. The group included architect Jim McCrery, who has been commissioned to add Trump’s ballroom to the White House. The two men appeared engaged in intense conversation as they surveyed the grounds with lots of animated pointing.

Trump then went out of camera range for several minutes, presumably to look out toward the South Lawn.

When he returned, reporters again tried to get more information.

“What are you trying to build?” one reporter shouted.

“Missiles,” Trump responded, presumably joking. “Nuclear missiles,” he repeated while making the gesture of a rocket launching.

Trump then ignored a question on Gaza and walked back inside.

A Trump-Putin meeting could happen as soon as next week, White House official says

White House special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Putin in Moscow on Wednesday.

A bilateral meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could happen as soon as next week, a White House official said Wednesday.

But Trump himself was less definitive when asked by reporters at an Oval Office event later in the day about whether he would meet with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Well, look, I don’t want to say it’s — I’ve been disappointed before with this one,” he answered.

At the same time, he said there’s a “very good prospect” of a summit between Putin and Zelenskyy.

“Well, there’s a – a very good prospect that they will,” he said. “And we haven’t determined where, but we had some very good talks with President Putin today. And, there’s a very good chance that we could be ending the – ending the round — ending the end of that road. That road was long and continues to be long. But, there’s a good chance that they will be a meeting very soon.”

When asked whether there was breakthrough in Wednesday’s talks in Moscow between Putin and envoy Steve Witkoff and whether Putin made some kind of concession that he hasn’t been willing to make before” Trump responded, “I don’t call it a breakthrough. I mean, we’ve been working on this a long time.”

Trump was asked whether his opinion that Putin was “tapping” him along had changed, but he said it was too soon to know.

“I can’t answer the question yet. I’ll tell you, in a matter of weeks, maybe less. But we’ve made a lot of progress,” Trump said.

He would not weigh in on whether they are close to a deal as he has been “very disappointed” before.

When Witkoff returned from Moscow on Wednesday, he relayed to President Trump that Putin would like to meet with him, the White House official said.

In response, Trump indicated he is open to that if Putin also meets with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the official added.

During an interview with Fox Business Network’s Larry Kudlow, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was measured about what had come out of the day’s developments related to Russia and Ukraine, saying it could take time to bring the leaders of the countries together.

“I don’t know if it’ll be next week or not. It remains to be seen. I think it’ll depend a lot on how much progress we can make,” the secretary said when asked about Trump’s plans for trilateral summit.

Rubio said that the administration would hold additional talks with European allies and the Ukrainians in the coming days aimed at bring all sides to the point where a face-to-face meeting with Putin and Zelenskyy “will be productive and worth doing.”

“Hopefully, if things continue to progress, an opportunity will present itself very soon for the president to meet both with Vladimir Putin and with President Zelenskyy at some point here, hopefully in the near future – but obviously a lot has to happen before that can occur,” he said, stressing there was “a lot of work ahead.”

“There’s still many impediments to overcome, and we hope to do that over the next few days and hours – weeks maybe,” he said.

Witkoff met with Putin for several hours ahead of the Friday deadline imposed by Trump for Russia to agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine or face sanctions.

According to a senior administration official, the meeting “went well” but secondary sanctions are still expected to be deployed against Moscow this week.

Trump has expressed increasing frustration with Putin over the conflict, shortening the deadline for a ceasefire from 50 to 10 days as he said he was “disappointed” in the Russian leader.

Trump, in a social media post on Wednesday, called the meeting between Witkoff and Putin “highly productive.”

“Great progress was made! Afterwards, I updated some of our European Allies. Everyone agrees this War must come to a close, and we will work towards that in the days and weeks to come,” Trump wrote.
