When Angelo, a young Great Dane, was wandering the streets, there was no such thing as hope for the poor pup. Severely undernourished, he could barely stand on his legs.
Yet, an incredible turn of events unfolded! A kind-hearted woman dedicated to rescuing stray dogs stepped in to help. However, Angelo’s situation was alarming, and he was rushed for urgent medical care.
Angelo’s Battle for Life
It was shocking to learn about Great Dane’s inability to move —his stomach was filled with stones. Starving and malnourished, Angelo had resorted to eating rocks to survive.
His belly was so full of stones that he couldn’t eat or relieve himself when brought to the shelter. While the vet immediately performed surgery on him, Angelo’s recovery was uncertain.
Furever Rescue Foster to the Rescue
Hanan, from the Furever Rescue Foster organization, went above and beyond to save Angelo. The surgery was costly and required an extensive recovery period, prompting her to seek assistance through social media.
Justin Finning and his wife, Deborah, saw Angelo’s heartbreaking photo. Although he was far from their home, they were determined to help him.
Meant to Be Together
This wasn’t the first Great Dane Justin and Deborah decided to save.
With over thirty years of experience in rescuing and fostering Great Danes with special needs, they knew they had to be involved in Angelo’s rescue.
Thankfully, this compassionate couple succeeded in their mission, providing Angelo with the crucial care he needed.
The surgery was a success, but Angelo needed time to regain his strength before traveling to his new home. When the day finally came, Hanan shared on Facebook:

Thriving in a Loving Home

Heartbroken Dog Keeps Waiting In Empty House After Her Owner Passes Away
Life has a way of changing in the blink of an eye. One day, you’re surrounded by warmth and love, and the next, everything you hold dear can be gone. For dogs, who place their entire existence in the hands of their humans, this reality can be especially heartbreaking.
It’s hard for us to truly grasp the depth of their pain when they lose the person their world revolves around. Sadly, sometimes fate has other plans, and it leaves them lost and alone.
That’s exactly what happened to a dog named Amber. After her owner’s sudden passing, Amber was left in an empty house, her entire world shattered. Yet, despite the loss and loneliness, she never left her doorstep—her loyalty unwavering, even in the face of heartache.
A Lonely Home, A Broken Heart
When the rescuers from Howl Of A Dog arrived at the place where this poor dog was living, they discovered her huddled beneath a crumbling house. The moment she spotted them, fear overtook her, and she quickly retreated to a safer distance.
Though they knew her owner had passed away and that she had been living outside an empty house for months, they had little else to piece together her tragic story.
Still, the heartbreaking truth that she had lost both her loved one and her home overnight was reason enough to explain her fearful behavior.
Despite her fear, the rescuers refused to give up. They patiently followed her, watching as she darted away from them, keeping her distance until she reached the far edge of the yard.
But their determination eventually won out. Slowly, they coaxed her into one of the rooms in the house.
There, they caught a glimpse of hope flickering in her eyes, and that small spark was all they needed to press forward.
After so much time spent alone in an empty house with an aching heart, it was finally her moment to experience true happiness again.
Path to a New Beginning
Once the rescuers realized they had earned Amber’s trust, they wasted no time showering her with love and care, hoping to soothe her emotional wounds and speed up her healing process. This was the first step toward helping her fully recover.
Their next priority was taking her to the veterinary clinic for a thorough health check. As expected, they found Amber infested with thousands of ticks. She was also diagnosed with Babesiosis, a tick-borne illness, and immediately began receiving the necessary medical treatment.
Without a microchip, there was no way to trace Amber’s medical history or know if she had ever received veterinary care. Yet, this didn’t stop her rescuers from doing everything possible to help her heal, both physically and emotionally.
As her body began to recover, so did her spirit. Surrounded by love and care, Amber’s emotional wounds slowly mended, and each day brought her closer to a new beginning. She made new friends along the way, and with each connection, her heart grew a little fuller.
No longer alone in an empty house, Amber’s life was about to change most wonderfully. Soon, she would once again have someone to center her world around.
A Home Filled with Love
After learning about Amber’s heartbreaking story, Tatjana, a devoted friend of Howl Of A Dog, made it her mission to ensure Amber would find a new home — one that would finally be filled with the love she deserved.
Amber didn’t have to wait long for good news. Brigit and Lars, a pair of dog lovers, stepped forward to become her foster parents. It was meant to be a temporary arrangement, just until Amber could find her forever home.
But fate had other plans—this time, for the better. Brigit and Lars quickly fell in love with Amber, and before long, they decided to adopt her. In that moment, Amber’s heart, once so heavy with loss, was now overflowing with love, and her new home was no longer empty—it was filled with warmth and joy.
