A woman, Gen, and her daughter heard whimpering coming from their yard. They went to investigate and found a baby fox lodged against the foundation. Gen dug him out while her daughter looked on. Once he was freed, the daughter wanted to name him Softee, but the family referred to him as Foxee. He was in terrible condition, which concerned them both. Gen wrapped the pup in a warm blanket; at first, he was too weak to move. She then called the wildlife rescue group for advice.
Because this happened during the pandemic, they didn’t have enough staff to send someone out. Gen and her family had to do their best to care for him. After Foxee slept, the pup perked up a bit and was able to gingerly move around. He struggled to walk because he was so lethargic. It broke their hearts.
Gen’s husband, David, pitched in to help as well. They used a syringe to feed Foxee and kept him warm. The family decided to leave him outside at certain times to see if his mom came to claim him. But there was no sign of her, YET! However, the following morning, the family went outside to find that their yard had been destroyed. Someone was sending them a message!
Foxee’s mom had paid them a visit and made it clear she was intensely looking for her baby. It was time to leave Foxee outside for longer periods of time to reunite him with his mama. Gen had one last cuddle and placed him outside in a basket rigged with a rope. The plan was to lift the basket up if mom was spotted, while the family stood at a safe distance. Does their plan work? Are mother and pup finally reunited? Play the video below to find out!
