Hurricanes Helene and Milton have devastated the southeast United States over the past few weeks, leaving countless people displaced from their homes.

Sadly for one family, evacuation meant having to surrender their three cats to a shelter. Now the inseparable trio of cats are looking for a new home where they can stick together.

According to the Humane Society of Catawba County, a North Carolina family was forced to make an impossible choice after their home was damaged last month after Hurricane Helene.

After being displaced by the storm, they needed to take shelter but couldn’t find any place that would allow their three orange cats, Big O, AKU, and Courage. After exhausting all options, they made the difficult decision to surrender them to the humane society: “They were heartbroken to surrender them,” the shelter wrote in a Facebook post.

The shelter described Big O, AKU, and Courage as “the sweetest, most loving cats,” and said the three pets had formed an inseparable bond.

The cats are now up for adoption, but, unable to bear splitting the cats up after all they went through, the humane society is seeking a family who will take them all in as a trio, so they can “continue their lives together, just as they’ve always been.”

“Please help us by sharing their story and finding them the home they deserve,” the Humane Society of Catawba County wrote. “Let’s give these three beautiful souls a chance to stay together and be loved for the rest of their lives.”

All three cats are 3 years old. They are located in Hickory, North Carolina, about a half hour outside of Charlotte.
