Tensions between Brooklyn Beckham and his parents David and Victoria remain high

A source recently told PEOPLE that David and Victoria have been asking to meet with their son Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz amid an ongoing fracture in their relationship

But another insider close to the situation tells PEOPLE that it’s “untrue” the Beckhams have “made efforts to mend things” with their son and his wife
The family feud continues.
On Jan. 9, a source told PEOPLE that David and Victoria Beckham had made attempts to mend fences with their oldest son Brooklyn, 26, and his wife, actress Nicola Peltz, 31, after the four of them had a falling out following Brooklyn and Nicola’s 2022 wedding.
“David and Victoria have repeatedly asked Brooklyn and Nicola to meet and talk in order to move forward,” the source said, noting that the couple have also always been invited to Beckham family events, like David Beckham receiving a knighthood in October.
“Of course invited Brooklyn and Nicola [to his knighting and after-gathering]. They have always been invited to all family occasions or events, whether private or public,” the source added.
However, an insider close to Nicola is refuting that account.
“The claim that Brooklyn and Nicola have been invited to all events and that David and Victoria have made honest efforts to mend things is untrue,” the insider says. “Neither parents have reached out to Nicola in almost a year.”
Reps for David and Victoria did not immediately respond to request for comment. Reps for Brooklyn and Nicola also did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

On Jan. 8, the British publication The Sun reported that Brooklyn allegedly sent his parents a legal notice, warning them that they can only contact him through lawyers, while also insisting that they not “tag” him on social media.
The outlet also claimed that a breach of the “desist” letter (an Instagram “like” from Victoria) was why Brooklyn blocked David, 50, and Victoria, 51, online in the first place. According to The Daily Mail, the decision to block his parents was made by Brooklyn last summer.
Currently, Brooklyn, Nicola, Victoria and David do not follow each other on Instagram, and Brooklyn and Nicola also do not follow Brooklyn’s brothers Romeo and Cruz, the latter of whom revealed on his Instagram Stories, “My mum and dad would never unfollow their son … Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked … as was I.”
The ongoing drama between the couples has been brewing steadily over the past few years. Last May, a source told PEOPLE that the feud initially stemmed from wedding dress drama, with Victoria allegedly offering to make Nicola’s gown but then never delivering.

“Nicola was painted as a brat for not wearing Victoria Beckham at the wedding,” the source said at the time, noting that Nicola had worn Victoria’s designs to many events.
Now, nearly four years later, there seems to be no sign of healing.
On New Year’s Eve, David shared an Instagram post of his favorite moments of 2025, which featured Romeo, Cruz and Harper, but no Brooklyn. However, David also followed up the grid post with Instagram Stories posts that included his eldest son.
“I love you all so much,” David wrote over a black and white image of himself with a young Brooklyn.
And on Jan. 9, an insider told PEOPLE, “David loves his kids,” adding, “they are his everything.”
Last May, a source reiterated to PEOPLE that David and Victoria were unhappy with the rift with the son.
“The relationship is definitely not beyond repair,” an insider told PEOPLE in early May. “They love and are always there for [Brooklyn]. They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life.”
Nicola Peltz Deletes Beckham Family Photos, Fueling Feud Rumors
The digital age has introduced a new metric for measuring the health of celebrity relationships: the “social media scrub,” and it appears Nicola Peltz Beckham has just sent a very loud message to her in-laws.
Fans and eagle-eyed followers noticed this weekend that the 31-year-old actress and billionaire heiress has quietly removed all traces of the Beckham family from her Instagram account.
The systematic deletion includes not only group photos and casual snapshots but also a high-profile, once-affectionate tribute to her mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham. The move comes amid a flurry of reports suggesting the long-rumored rift between the young couple and the iconic Beckham parents has escalated from a “cold war” to a full-blown legal standoff.
The Deletion Heard ‘Round the World
The most striking deletion was a post from 2024 celebrating Victoria’s 50th birthday. In the original caption, Nicola had referred to the former Spice Girl as her “beautiful mil” (mother-in-law), adding, “I love you so much and love being your dance partner forever.”
Victoria had even responded at the time with a string of heart emojis, momentarily quieting rumors that the two women were at odds. Today, that post is gone, leaving a digital void that has set the internet ablaze with speculation about the current state of their relationship.
This Instagram erasure is not an isolated incident; rather, it appears to be the latest development in a series of distancing maneuvers. According to reports from TMZ and The Sun, Brooklyn Beckham, 26, has allegedly instructed his parents, David and Victoria, to communicate with him only through legal representatives. The reported “legal letter” supposedly requests that the famous parents refrain from making public comments about him or tagging him in social media posts.
A Relationship Under Legal Lockdown
Sources close to the situation suggest that a breaking point was reached late last year. While the Beckhams have made public gestures, such as David posting childhood photos of Brooklyn and Victoria “liking” her son’s culinary videos, these moves were reportedly interpreted by the young couple as a violation of their request for privacy. A source told LADbible that Brooklyn felt his parents “continued to ignore his wishes and kept mentioning him online instead of reaching out privately.”
The tension apparently spilled over into the physical world as well. Brooklyn was noticeably absent from major family milestones in 2025, including David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebration and his subsequent knighthood ceremony in November. Instead, Brooklyn and Nicola have been spending the majority of their time in the United States, frequently appearing in posts with Nicola’s parents, billionaire Nelson Peltz and Claudia Heffner Peltz.
The “Wedding Dress” Origins
The roots of this public distancing are often traced back to the couple’s multi-million dollar wedding in 2022. For years, tabloid speculation focused on Nicola’s decision to wear a custom Valentino gown rather than a design from Victoria’s own fashion label. While Nicola has previously addressed this speculation, telling Variety in 2022 that Victoria’s atelier simply didn’t have the time to make the dress, the narrative of a “wedding dress feud” has remained a persistent part of the family’s public history.
Beyond the fashion drama, some insiders suggest the friction is deeply rooted in the blending of two very different, very powerful dynasties. While the Beckhams have spent decades building a brand centered on family unity and the “Beckham brand,” the Peltz family operates with a different kind of private, industrial-scale wealth. The clash of these two worlds has led to online chatter about “teams,” with fans often taking sides in the comments sections of their various platforms.
The Culture of the Celebrity “Side-Eye”
The discourse surrounding the Peltz-Beckham rift also highlights a broader cultural fascination with celebrity family dynamics in the age of social media. When a high-profile figure “likes” a comment or “unfollows” a sibling, it is treated with the weight of a formal press release.
Recently, Nicola appeared to “address” the chatter by “liking” several TikTok comments that supported Brooklyn’s decision to prioritize his new family unit. One comment she liked noted, “No child would ever choose to cut off their parents without good reason,” while another expressed joy that Brooklyn had joined “such a nice family” in the Peltz clan.
This trend of “silent” communication, where celebrities use platform algorithms to signal their stance, is a hallmark of Gen Z celebrity culture. By scrubbing her feed, Nicola isn’t just cleaning up her aesthetic; she is engaging in a strategic repositioning of her public identity, one that seems increasingly independent of the “Brand Beckham” umbrella.
Is Reconciliation Still on the Table?
While the social media “unfollowing” and blocking, which reportedly included Brooklyn blocking his siblings Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, feels final, those close to the family remain hopeful. A source told People in early 2026 that while relationships are “sky-high” with tension, they are not “beyond repair.” The insider noted that David and Victoria “love and are always there for him,” even if they are currently “hurt and disappointed” by the lack of direct contact.
However, the Beckhams have maintained their characteristic stiff upper lip in the face of the scrub. Victoria recently posted a series of throwbacks to her own career, noticeably omitting any recent family group shots that would have included Brooklyn. This “business as usual” approach is a classic Beckham PR move, designed to protect the core family brand while the private storm rages on.
As it stands, the digital silence on Nicola’s page serves as a stark contrast to the once-constant stream of family interaction. For a family that has lived its life in the spotlight for thirty years, this pivot toward legal boundaries and social media scrubbing marks a significant and somber chapter in the Beckham legacy.
Brooklyn Beckham ‘reveals why he sent legal letter to parents David and Victoria’
Brooklyn Beckham reportedly sent his parents Victoria and David a legal letter to protect his mental health.
The 26-year-old was believed to have issued his parents with a cease and desist letter, instructing them to contact him only through lawyers.
The budding chef reportedly told them that all future communication must be handled via legal representatives after his parents shared several posts featuring him on Instagram.
The move is said to be part of Brooklyn’s efforts to create distance from his parents following months of feuding.
Now, it’s been claimed Brooklyn reportedly sent the letter because Victoria and David’s posts that tagged or mentioned him were affecting his mental health.
He wants any attempts at reconciliation to happen “privately” rather than on social media, sources claimed.
An insider told The Mirror that the row escalated after his “requests to stop” were ignored.
“It had been leading to issues with his mental health… it was to protect himself,” they told the outlet.
The source claimed Brooklyn believes his parents still see him as a child.
The Standard has contacted representatives for Brooklyn and his parents for comment.
Brooklyn has been locked in an apparent rift with his family for months now, missing numerous high profile family occasions this year, including Victoria and David’s birthdays.
He hasn’t been seen with the rest of his family since Boxing Day 2024.
The eldest Beckham child failed to invite any of his family to his and wife Nicola Peltz’s vow renewal in August and skipped David’s knighthood late last year.
He also failed to attend Victoria’s Netflix documentary premiere and did not acknowledge his parents or siblings’ birthdays on social media apart from sister Harper’s 14th.
It was previously claimed that Brooklyn blocked his mother on social media after she liked a video he posted on Instagram, an action reportedly seen as breaching the terms of the letter.
His apparent legal notice is said to ask that his parents refrain from tagging him in online posts.
The letter is said to represent Brooklyn’s last formal contact with his parents.
A source told The Sun: “Truly, people do not know the full facts of this heart-breaking tale, and think Brooklyn was just being truculent when he blocked his parents.
“The reality is that he issued them with a letter at the end of last summer, asking for any correspondence to go via lawyers only, and wanted to try and make amends privately, not publicly.”
By contrast, his parents are said to be “utterly bemused and devastated” by the situation, believing they were signalling that “the door is always open and that they still care.”
