A courageous cat takes a bullet to protect the life of a three-year-old boy.

In a remarkable act of bravery, a cat owner in Pennsylvania claims that her feline companion became a hero when it took a bullet that had ricocheted through the room where her sleeping son was. Angelica Sipe, residing in York, recounts how her ginger cat Opie selflessly protected her 3-year-old son Daemire during the incident when a stray bullet entered their home through a window.

“The first thing I did was check on my son, and he was sound asleep. Then I noticed my cat on the floor, and that’s when I realized my cat was shot,” Sipe said, acknowledging Opie’s courageous act.

Opie, the brave ginger cat residing in York, Pennsylvania, has garnered praise as a true hero after enduring a stray bullet that entered the room where his owners were sleeping. Opie sustained injuries with blood visible on his head, as the bullet entered through it, passed through the bottom of his neck, reentered at his shoulder, and finally exited through his armpit, as described by his owner.

Remarkably, the bullet then ricocheted off a pillow, narrowly missing hitting Daemire, Angelica Sipe’s son. Sipe firmly believes that if Opie hadn’t been lying in that specific spot, the bullet would have struck her son instead.

Opie’s courageous and protective act has rightfully earned him recognition and admiration as a true hero in their household.

When presented with the option to euthanize her injured cat, veterinarians offered Sipe the choice. However, she made the decision to proceed with surgery for Opie.

The stray bullet had entered the side of Opie’s head and exited through the bottom of his neck, only to reenter and exit once more through his armpit. As a result, Opie now has a drainage tube in place. Despite the ordeal, veterinarians expect Opie to recover and be okay.

Opie currently wears drainage tubes and bandages to aid his recovery, and although he sustained muscle damage, he is expected to eventually make a full recovery.

“He was my son’s little hero, so I need to keep him around,” Sipe expressed gratefully.

The veterinary bills for Opie have exceeded $1,000. To assist with the cat’s medical expenses, Sipe created a GoFundMe campaign, which had already raised over $1,900 as of Monday night. Sipe is thankful for the support received and is determined to ensure the continued presence of her heroic feline companion.
