In early November, a Good Samaritan walked into Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL) carrying a tiny dog in need of help. When the SRSL staff saw that the 4-month-old puppy had pink, wrinkly skin sprinkled with sparse patches of fur, they instantly knew what was going on.
“Another little baby comes to us suffering from mange,” SRSL wrote on Facebook. “She’s lost nearly all of her hair.”

The French bulldog-mix puppy was inflamed from head to toe, but she was far from the first SRSL resident to have arrived with the same condition.

While it’s unclear what her life looked like before being rescued, the folks at SRSL knew one thing for sure: She was in the right place to get the care she needed.
“Her little wrinkled forehead makes her look so worried, but soon she’ll know she’s right where she needs to be,” SRSL wrote.

The team lovingly named her Pebble, then started a rigorous treatment plan that included daily baths and antibiotics. The sweet girl undoubtedly had a long road ahead, but her rescuers were confident she’d feel better soon.
“We can’t wait for this glow up!” SRSL wrote.

As the weeks passed, Pebble’s inflamed skin started to heal. By the time she hit the one-month mark of her rescue, the resilient puppy felt better than ever.
“She is no longer painful, bleeding [or] cracking. Her fur is so soft and is growing in with the cutest little spots!” SRSL wrote in an update on Facebook.

The folks at SRSL knew it was only a matter of time before Pebble would look and feel like herself again — but they were still astonished by her progress a month later. With her new fuzzy face and smooth, healthy skin, she looked like a completely different dog.
“It’s amazing what 4 weeks of love, nourishment and care will do!” SRSL wrote.

Nearly a month after her rescue, Pebble’s dream family arrived, and the sweet girl finally went off to her forever home. Once a neglected pup, Pebble is now living her best life in a warm, cozy house alongside the best humans she could’ve ever asked for.
The folks at SRSL were determined to give Pebble her happily-ever-after, and they are thrilled to see their wish come true.
“We couldn’t be happier for her!” SRSL wrote. “Pebble, the world is yours, my love!”
