A heartwarming conversation between a father and his daughter has gone viral on TikTok, earning almost 300,000 views.
David Davies, 62, can be seen with 6-year-old Serena sitting on his lap, with text layered over the video saying: “You’re raising a daughter who loves herself enough to walk away from negativity.”
During the viral video shared to @daviesdailydiaries, he asks his daughter how she would respond to someone if they said they didn’t like her outfit. Serena said: “I would say it’s OK, I am not wearing this for you. I am wearing it for myself.” Davies then asks what she would say if someone said, “I don’t like you,” and Serena confidently replied: “it’s ok, I love myself.”
But it hasn’t always been this way, Serena, who has an English and Filipino background, was the victim of playground bullies and was mocked because of her appearance. “She has experienced hostility from a young age,” Davies told Newsweek. “When she was at nursery, another kid threw a toy at her because she had ‘wonky eyes.'”

The cruel comments led to low self-esteem and timidness, and her dad said she was “scared of her own reflection.”
The dad of three, from Basingstoke, England, added: “I have taught her how to forgive.”
Now, after switching schools, Serena is a transformed child—full of confidence thanks to the sofa self‑love chats she shares with her civil-servant dad.

Davies said: “When I first started talking to her about these things, she listened but she lost hope because she had to face bullying five days a week at her old school.
“Now she responds, we don’t coach her; whatever I say to her, she just replies organically. We don’t prep her on what to say.
“Her responses make me proud,” the father added.
So far, the video has over 17,000 likes and many comments.
“Great parenting,” wrote one user, and another shared: “It’s taken me to an adult to get to this beautiful girls level of self-love,” adding: “This is incredible to see. Great job parents.”
Davies said: “During these chats with my daughter, I am just pointing out that the world sometimes isn’t a fair place.
“I have a straight moral compass and want her to have the same,” the dad added.
“These conversations are about teaching her to have respect, understand there are differences in the world and that not everyone is the same.
“I am making a conscious effort to raise my daughter in the best way possible,” Davies added.
“Sometimes, life throws curveballs, and I want to make sure she is prepared.”
