Prince Harry and King Charles’ Aides Meet for First Time in Apparent Olive Branch Move amid Royal Rift

Senior aides for the father and son met in London for informal talks, signaling the first real effort toward healing years of royal family tensions

In the strongest sign yet that Prince Harry and King Charles may be inching toward reconciliation, senior aides from both sides held a quiet meeting in London last week — an apparent olive branch after years of estrangement.

Meredith Maines, the Duke of Sussex’s chief of staff and communications director, flew in from Montecito and was photographed meeting with Tobyn Andreae, King Charles’s communications secretary. Also present was Liam Maguire, who oversees U.K. press for Harry and Meghan. The Mail on Sunday was first to report the behind-the-scenes gathering.

The informal talks — held at the Royal Over-Seas League, a private members’ club just minutes from Clarence House — reportedly involved no formal agenda but offered a rare opportunity for both sides to open a “channel of communication for the first time in years,” a source told the outlet. “There were things both sides wanted to talk about.”

While there’s a “long road ahead,” the source added, “everyone just wants to move on and move forward now. It was finally the right time for the two sides to talk.”

PEOPLE understands that Maines’ visit to London, while notable for the behind-the-scenes meeting, was officially part of her routine duties. As Chief Communications Officer to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, she was in town to meet with the U.K.-based communications team, media contacts, stakeholders and senior figures connected to the Duke’s patronages. The trip was part of ongoing planning and engagement.

Buckingham Palace had no comment when reached by PEOPLE.

The meeting comes just weeks after Harry told the BBC that the door to “reconciliation” remains open.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” he said.

The royal family’s rift first became public in 2020 when Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their royal roles. The rift deepened with bombshell interviews, their Netflix docuseries and Harry’s best-selling memoir Spare.

Harry has publicly voiced grievances about how the couple was treated during their time as senior working royals, citing issues around press intrusion, family tensions and the toll on their mental health.

While the road to reconciliation may be long, the quiet London summit suggests a shared interest in at least starting the conversation.

Why Prince Harry’s Invictus Games Could Reunite Him with King Charles (Exclusive)

Helen Helliwell, CEO of the Invictus Games in Birmingham, tells PEOPLE that the royal family would be “very much welcome” when the Invictus Games return to the U.K.

Britain's King Charles III and Britain's Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex walk behind the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II, adorned with a Royal Standard and the Imperial State Crown and pulled by a Gun Carriage of The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, during a procession from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster, in London on September 14, 2022.

Prince Harry‘s creation of the Invictus Games is heading back to where it all began — and Harry and other members of the royal family will be there to see it.

That’s the hope of the woman tasked with organizing the next iteration of the Duke of Sussex’s adaptive sports contest for wounded, injured and sick armed forces members and veterans.

Two years to the day before the games are held in Birmingham, U.K., work is well underway and more than $5.5 million in commercial help has been secured.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, the creator of the event that started in 2014, will likely be among the crowds.

“We will be delighted if they come over for the year out and for the Games,” Helen Helliwell, CEO of the Invictus Games in Birmingham, tells PEOPLE. “We are so far out it’s impossible for one individual to confirm their plans, but we would be delighted if the Duke were able to come.”

She adds, “I’ve seen the impact. His passion is unsurpassed. He really brings a magical sparkle dust to his interactions, and there is a really special relationship with him and the community. So, we will be super excited to host him in Birmingham as well.”

“He founded it and put on the first Games in 2014. That was his vision that’s been realized, and it’s just grown and grown and grown,” Helliwell continues. “So to have it back in the U.K. for this eighth iteration, I think, is really special. I think it’s going to be a really special moment for the whole country. But particularly, I think a real sense of pride for him in seeing just how far that movement has come.”

Last month, reports said that Prince Harry’s father, King Charles, will be invited. Asked if she hopes the King, as head of the armed forces in the U.K. will be there, Helliwell tells PEOPLE the royal family members are “supporters of the Armed Forces. They’ve been supporters of Invictus since inception in 2014.”

“Again, we’re two years away, and it’s too soon to confirm who’s going to be there. But obviously, we’d be delighted if members of the royal family were able to attend and would very much welcome their presence in a couple of years’ time.”

Work is already well underway in planning for the games. “There are such deep connections here with the armed forces [in Birmingham],” Helliwell explains. “Queen Elizabeth Hospital treats our wounded and sick, and the Fisher House, which looks after families while the loved ones are being treated, are here. And then some of our military medics are trained at the Royal College of Defense Medicine. Then, of course, we’ve got the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Center and the reason as well. So really deep connection with the armed forces and then Birmingham just really well, world-renowned for putting on amazing events like the Commonwealth Games.”

Now, they have raised more commercial backing but are broadening it now to smaller, more local companies, called the Champions Programme. “We know they are super-supportive of the armed forces, and we are hoping to tap into that support,” Helliwell says

“So the funding will help us put on an amazing Games for the 550 athletes from 20 nations around the globe,” she adds. “But also then create this impact program which we really wanna see and the run up to the games and afterwards.”

With it being more than 10 years old now, many in the movement are surprised it has lasted so long after Britain and its allies are out of major combat. (New venues are being sought for 2029.)

“We’re not in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, but our armed forces are incredibly operationally busy. And unfortunately, they do get wounded or injured in the course of their duties,” Helliwell says. “They’re out there defending the nation day in, day out and on our behalf every day. And their sacrifices are extraordinary.”

“When you look at the community of nations that participate and you think about Ukraine and the things that they’re experiencing right now, it kind of feels like we have a real sense of moral responsibility to keep the Games going, to help those other countries that are in high conflict operations right now,” she adds.

The Birmingham Invictus Games will have new sports too: pickleball and laser run, which is like a biathlon, “where you shoot at a target, then you run or wheel around a track, depending on your adaptive needs.”

There will be e-sports, or gaming, too. “We hope that will bring a new audience,” she says.

As the day nears, the armed forces in the U.K. are doing their bit to keep the buzz going. An Invictus Games flag is currently traveling the globe on a British ship among the carrier strike group. “You can imagine the crews of the ship are having some fun with it and taking it to some fun with it and they will take it to some interesting places,” she says. “They’re all colleagues. They all know someone who has been injured, wounded or sick. It is meaningful for our armed forces community as well.”

It’s a long way off, but they already have plans to make the opening and closing ceremonies as good as ever. She teases, “I’ve got a wish list,” adding, “They had Katy Perry and Coldplay and Jelly Roll in Vancouver, so we want to attract the best.”

Helliwell adds, “Imagine your big pop concert, but with all the military pizazz. It’ll be, be something really special. We’re going to attract some fantastic acts that people want to come and see, and which will really help the armed forces feel celebrated and acknowledged as well.”

Prince Harry And King Charles Take Major Step Toward Reconciliation As Their Top Aides Meet For Peace Talks

Prince Harry‘s feud with the royal family may soon come to an end following private talks between his aides and those of his father, King Charles.

The meeting comes after the Duke of Sussex opened up about his desire to reconcile with his family and also invited them to the Invictus Games in 2027.

However, Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William, may not be so keen on welcoming him back, as reports suggest he still harbors hurt over the duke and his wife, Meghan Markle‘s actions.

The rift within the royal family may soon be a thing of the past, after Prince Harry and King Charles’ aides held a secret peace talk in London.

The Duke of Sussex has not been on good terms with many members of his family following the bombshell revelations he made against them in his blockbuster memoir, “Spare.”

According to the Daily Mail, a source said that the meeting between the aides was the first step in the “rapprochement process,” following years of estrangement from the monarchy.

“There’s a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years,” a source said. “There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about.”

It remains unknown if it was Charles or Harry who specifically called for the peace talks, but the insiders said the summit is the strongest sign yet of the determination on both sides to resolve the bitter House of Windsor feud.

“Everyone just wants to move on and move forward now. It was finally the right time for the two sides to talk,” they added.

The talks between Harry’s camp and King Charles’s aides were held at a London private members’ club that champions international friendship, and whose patron is the British monarch.

The Duke of Sussex was ably represented by Meredith Maines, his chief communications officer and head of his household in Montecito, California.

Maines met Tobyn Andreae, the king’s communications secretary, at the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL), which happens to be a stone’s throw from Clarence House, the monarch’s London residence.

Also present was Liam Maguire, who runs the Sussexes’ PR team in the UK. Maines also used the opportunity to meet with her team across the pond for the first time since she became the couple’s first chief communications officer.

The peace talks between the feuding parties came after Harry expressed his desire to reconcile with the royal family during a BBC interview.

The interview was held shortly after the duke lost his legal appeal over his downgraded security in the UK following his decision to step down as a senior royal.

Harry candidly spoke about the deepening rift between him and the royal family, expressing a desire to heal old wounds, despite revealing that his father, the 76-year-old monarch, is not currently speaking to him.

He also mentioned he doesn’t know “how much longer” his father has to live.

“There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family,” Harry admitted, per the Daily Mail. “Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things, but… there’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”

The prince added, “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has; he won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile.”

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan have a lot of issues on their plates and allegedly face the risk of being ousted from the royal family altogether. According to Radar Online, Prince William is weighing stripping the couple of their royal titles once he becomes king.

William has reportedly not gotten over the disturbing allegations Harry and Meghan made upon relocating to the U.S. and isn’t ready yet to let it all pass.

A courtier said, “The king was especially stung by Harry labeling him an emotionally cold father in his scathing memoir, ‘Spare.'”

“But the monarch is very concerned about his image and fears backlash from his subjects. That’s why he’d never dare take away Harry’s Sussex title – despite all the hurt he’s caused,” the royal source added.

The insider further explained that Charles is concerned about how he’d come off if he stripped them of the title, but William, on the other hand, doesn’t care.

“Behind the scenes, people are saying that the royals have quietly sanctioned the title removal – if Harry and Meghan step out of line again,” the source said. “The removal would require an Act of Parliament, but those in the know say the palace has already called several secret meetings to discuss the possibility and put an actionable plan in place.”

Prince Harry Is Still Struggling To Find Himself, Royal Expert Claims

A royal expert recently said Harry is still struggling to establish himself five years after leaving his royal role and relocating to Montecito, California, where he and Meghan are raising their family.

Meanwhile, the former “Suits” actress has recorded moderate success after launching her As Ever brand and releasing her “With Love, Meghan” docuseries, prompting royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams to suggest that the duke is essentially “living in exile,” and maybe wrestling with lingering regrets.

“Undoubtedly, he has some regrets. He appears to have lost touch with many of his friends and, of course, there is the royal rift,” Fitzwilliams said, per Fox News Digital.

He added: “In recent months, it has been [his wife] Meghan [Markle] who has fronted things. Her launch of lifestyle products has been backed by Netflix… Harry has picked up a couple of awards, but the fact that 76,000 signed a petition when he received the Pat Tillman Award was a warning that many Americans view the couple with disdain.”

Prince Harry is totally whipped by Meghan, even the King knows it – she’ll hate his reduced status now, expert says

PRINCE Harry is totally “whipped” by his wife Meghan Markle and even King Charles know it, a royal expert has claimed.

Writer and broadcaster Esther Krauke also added that the Duchess of Sussex, 43, will also hate her reduced status among the Royal Family.

Ms Krauke made the comments while appearing on the Royal Exclusive show with The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson, alongside co-guest royal biographer Phil Dampier.

She said: “We know that King Charles said something about him being whipped.

“We keep hearing things consistently coming out from courtiers and people that are close to the Royal Family.”

She implied Harry was under the thumb of his wife.

Why July 4 Marked a Turning Point in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Relationship

Ms Krauke added that both the late Queen’s and the country’s opinion of Meghan Markle had evolved over time.

She said: “The Queen’s opinion of Meghan involved, and it’s much like how the country’s opinion evolved.

“And much like the public, I think  the Queen thought Meghan was a breath of fresh air.

“Very intelligent, very well-spoken, obviously from her acting background.

Royal wedding planned as Prince Harry, Meghan Markle announce engagement

“And she worked, she welcomed her. I think, like much of the country with open arms, I think where things went wrong was clearly the cultural clash.”

She added: “And I think in some ways Meghan thought she was marrying a billionaire, but was marrying a millionaire with like sort of a reduced status.

“So that might have been not appealing eventually.

“But also I just I don’t think she fully understood or was even interested in what the role was supposed to become.

“She hadn’t earned enough brownie points to actually be able to choose the tools she wanted to go on in the way that she wanted to do or curate her image in the same way, you know, most people would just be like, oh, you have to kind of have skin in the game.

“You have to have, I’m sorry.

“Open schools in Wales on a rainy day for a number of years before you ingratiate yourself and garner that goodwill.

“But I don’t think she had that approach or attitude. And you could say it’s very American, you know, very can-do spirit.”

Mr Dampier previously gave his opinions on the views expressed by royal biographer Bedell Smith that Queen Elizabeth II had shared her alleged doubts over the new Duchess, and feared Harry was “weak”.

Mr Dampier said the author was extremely close to Lady Elizabeth Anson, who was a confidante and a cousin of the Queen.

“And Liza Shockley, as Sally Smith likes to call her, she was speaking to the Queen on a regular basis right up until her death, spoke to her every day, even in lockdown,” he continued.

Mr Dampier claimed, therefore, this meant information had come “right from the horse’s mouth”.

He also alleged “we can trust this information”, which is “very, very telling”.

In harsh comments, the expert shared his thoughts: “And to be honest, it confirms what we’d already suspected that you know, that at first the Queen was very keen on Meghan.”

Mr Dampier further alleged the Queen’s reported “doubts” about Meghan “ruined her close relationship with Harry”.

Bedell Smith also claimed Meghan was rude to the late Queen for 10 minutes over wedding details.

“She remarked that Harry was perhaps a little bit too much in love, was possibly besotted and a bit weak and being manipulated by Meghan,” he continued.

Sharing his own opinions, Mr Dampier added: “I think, unfortunately, that confirms what I’ve been saying or thought for the last few years that, sadly, Meghan never really had any intention of staying in the royal family.

“She saw as a stepping stone getting married to to Harry to to to new fame and fortune.

“And I think that’s what initially Prince William was concerned about. And that’s why they fell out. And now we are where we are. But to have this confirmed by somebody so close to the Queen is, is is really dynamite.”

This comes as for the first time, the Queen’s private concerns have been made public in heartbreaking detail — showing just how perceptive she proved to be.

This week Sally published “explosive” revelations made to her by one of Her Majesty’s closest confidantes, her first cousin once removed, Lady Elizabeth Anson, in several conversations in 2018 and 2019.

Lady Elizabeth claimed there were serious concerns in the upper echelons of the Palace, long before Harry and Meghan made themselves royal pariahs.

Just days before the wedding, she had told Sally: “We hope but don’t quite think [Meghan] is in love.

“We think she engineered it all.”

She added: “It’s worrying that so many people are questioning whether Meghan is right for Harry.

“The problem, bless his heart, is that Harry is neither bright nor strong, and she is both.”

Prince Harry looks back as Meghan Markle focuses on empire amid royal family rift | Fox News

The observations by Lady Elizabeth, who died from lung cancer in November 2020 aged 79, show the warning signs were there from the start — and proved well-founded.

She said Meghan had initially appeared “natural, intelligent and thoughtful” after getting engaged to Harry in 2017.

But as their wedding approached, they both caused a stir with their poor behaviour — and blatant disrespect for the Queen.

Harry was reportedly “rude to her for ten minutes” in one meeting and upset her by asking the Archbishop of Canterbury to perform the wedding service in May 2018, without first seeking permission from the Dean of Windsor.

In January 2020, Harry and Meghan announced they had chosen to “transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution”.

At first, it seemed they wanted to keep one foot in the royal fold, while pursuing financial opportunities on the outside.

But after months of negotiations, the Queen and the then Prince Charles laid down the law — they were either fully in or fully out.

There was no in-between.

The couple opted for the latter and moved to the US later that year, infamously launching a crusade of Palace-bashing and com- plaints against the royals in the aftermath.

Royal Family: Meghan Markle’s Prince Harry ‘stepping stone’ plan furiously denied

Prince William and the late Queen were reportedly concerned about Meghan Markle’s intentions with Prince Harry.

Harry and Meghan

Meghan Markle saw Prince Harry as a “stepping stone” for her own gain, it has been claimed. Royal commentator Phil Dampier previously alleged that Prince William was concerned about Meghan’s real intentions for joining the Royal Family.

The expert’s comments come after a close confidante of the late Queen Elizabeth II claimed that she was also wary of Meghan’s intentions in marrying her much-loved grandson.

Referencing comments made by the late Queen’s friend, Lady Elizabeth Anson, Mr Dampier told The Sun: “I think, unfortunately, that confirms what I’ve been saying or thought for the last few years that, sadly, Meghan never really had any intention of staying in the Royal Family.

“[The late Queen] saw as a stepping stone getting married to Harry to new fame and fortune. And I think that’s what initially Prince William was concerned about.”

Following Mr Dampier’s claims, a source hit back via Page Six about Meghan’s intentions, they said: “The opinions of Mr. Dampier are just that, opinions. They are completely without merit and not grounded in fact. There is no way Mr. Dampier, nor anyone at the Sun newspaper, could possibly know what the Duchess’ intentions were or are, about anything.”

Just two years after they tied the knot in Windsor in May 2018, Meghan and Harry stepped down from royal duties – with the pair soon moving to the US with their son Archie. Within the past five years, the couple have also welcomed another child – their daughter Lilibet.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle cut back on staff to save some cash: sources

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have cut ties with their comms team as they focus on saving cash, Page Six is told.

Just last month, it was revealed the renegade royals had parted ways with six more employees, including their two in-house reps.

Now, we’re told the tally of staff the couple has lost or let go since they quit as working royals back in 2020 is up to 25, with some departures not yet publicized.

The Sussexes’ Netflix deal – reported to be worth up to $100 million, though sources say it’s actually closer to $20 million – is also up this year.

“It’s the same old story – they cycle through staff as quickly as normal people cycle through toilet paper. Milk lasts longer than their employees,” said one royal source.

The couple had hits with their “Harry & Meghan” docu-series and household tips show “With Love, Meghan,” but less attention was paid to documentaries “Heart of Invictus” and “Polo”.

However, the streamer is now prioritizing ‘first look’ deals rather than overall exclusive contracts, which means they could re-sign for significantly less money than their current deal, we’re told.

This could prove a headache for the couple, who have a heap of expenses – from traveling to an annual security bill believed to be around $2 million.

Meghan Markle in halter-neck white top, white skirt and sunglasses, Prince Harry in a blue shirt, white pants, and grey blazer and sunglasses.
The couple has lost 25 employees since they moved to the US in 2020.As Page Six revealed, they splashed out $14.65 million on their home after moving to the US (it’s now believed to be worth around $27 million).Deeds showed they took out a $9.5m mortgage to be paid back, plus interest, by the year 2050, indicating they put down a $5 million deposit. They also have to pay a huge yearly property tax of $288,000.

They also foot the bill for their staff in communications alongside their personal office, the Archewell Foundation, production, as well as employees at their estate in Montecito, CA.

We’re told the Sussexes also have to pay for a portion of their “faux foreign tours”, which have seen them visit Nigeria and Colombia.

Harry, 40, and Markle, 43, have now lost hard-working Kyle Boulia, their Los Angeles-based deputy press secretary, and Charlie Gipson, who had been serving as the couple’s European communications director.

They also lost Deesha Tank, Archewell’s director of communications and Lianne Cashin, formerly head of operations at Archewell.

Markle’s social manager and a personal assistant, who have not been named, have also departed.

Meredith Maines remains the couple’s chief communications officer after coming on board in February after their last PR boss, Ashley Hansen, left to start her own consultancy firm.

“As the Duke and Duchess’s business and philanthropic interests grow, I have made the strategic decision to move toward a more traditional communications structure of specialist agency support,” said Maines in a statement.

“Transitioning from a team of two to an agency support staff of eight, operating across five different time zones, will give international media and stakeholders better access, and critically, faster response times to inquiries,” she added.

“In a financial sense, it’s cheaper to employ a PR firm, as opposed having to full-time staff,” said an industry expert.

There have, of course, been a myriad of reports that Harry, and Markle are not exactly the easiest to work with.

Insiders told us the couple was infuriated and upset by an unflattering Vanity Fair cover story in January, which claimed Markle would be cold and withholding to staffers at the drop of a dime if “something went poorly”.

It was “really, really, really awful. Very painful,” an unnamed staff member who worked with Markle on media projects alleged, as another said she would throw employees “to the wolves”.

Royal watchers and fans blasted Markle for launching her ‘As Ever’ rosé wine on Tuesday, on what would have been Princess Diana’s 64th birthday.“It was unfair, what could their staff truly do about it?” said a source in the know of the VF story, “The sources were anonymous and things could not be refuted.”The Sussexes were also unhappy with a Hollywood Reporter exposé last September which claimed that “everyone’s terrified of Meghan,” regarding her staff.

A source added, “She belittles people, she doesn’t take advice. They’re both poor decision-makers, they change their minds frequently. Harry is a very, very charming person — no airs at all — but he’s very much an enabler. And she’s just terrible.”

Multiple sources told us that Harry was furious at the story and desperate to protect his wife, pushing his staff to work on a US Weekly cover story quoting former staffers saying they had loved working for the pair.

Alongside this, Harry and Markle’s former communications secretary Jason Knauf famously filed an official complaint in 2018, accusing the mom-of-two of bullying her staff at Buckingham Palace.

In emails leaked to the Times of London, he claimed the former “Suits” star drove two personal assistants out and undermined the confidence of a third staff member.

A Sussex rep hit back, saying, “Let’s just call this what it is—a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation”, while Markle’s lawyer, Jenny Afia, later told the BBC: “What bullying actually means is improperly using power, repeatedly and deliberately to hurt someone physically or emotionally. The Duchess of Sussex has absolutely denied doing that. That said, she wouldn’t want to negate anyone’s personal experiences.”

The results of the palace’s probe have never been made public, but Knauf, who is now the CEO of the Earthshot Prize, launched by Harry’s brother Prince William, recently told “60 Minutes Australia,” he “wouldn’t change a thing” about raising his concerns.

Markle debuted her rosé wine on Tuesday, on what would have been Princess Diana’s 64th birthday, a move which did not go unnoticed by fans and royal experts.

“A source close to the royal household told me, it’s not lost on Prince William that Meghan has launched an alcohol brand on his mother’s birthday, the very mum he lost in a drink-driving tragedy,” royal reporter Kinsey Schofield told The Sun.

Harry, meanwhile, is concentrating on his philanthropic endeavors – and trying to mend fences with his estranged family, including his cancer-stricken father, King Charles.

In May, he spoke out yet again about his family rift after losing his fight for government-funded security for his family in the UK.

“I would love reconciliation with my family,” Harry told the BBC, “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”

The Telegraph reported there are some moves within the palace to bring Harry and Charles together, claiming that Harry, Markle and their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, are being included within Charles’ funeral plans.

Regardless of what happens with their Netflix deal, a TV producer told us, “I can see Meghan’s show coming back for a third season, easily. People just love to hate her.”

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Clinging To HRH Titles For Kids’ Future

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have no plans to let go of a critical part of the Royal life they ran away from.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, despite resigning as working royals in 2020, have seemingly decided to retain the “HRH” titles for their two children, but not without raising eyebrows from a few quarters.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had a strained relationship with the royal family since moving to the U.S. in 2020, citing media toxicity and ill treatment from the palace.

A source close to the couple explained that the prince plans to keep the title for Archie and Lilibet and leave them with the choice to become working royals or pursue other interests when they get older.

This decision may not favor the young royals in the long run, especially when Prince William inevitably ascends the throne. A source claimed that the possibility of William holding his grudge with Meghan and Harry over their kids is somewhat high.

Although the older prince has reached a point of indifference towards Harry, he may not be willing to set himself up for another disappointment by welcoming his niece and nephew into the fold as adults.

Instead, Daily Mail shared that Archie and Lilibet are projected to spend their youth in the luxury plains of Montecito, away from the politics and bureaucracy of the royal family.

Meghan herself had shared her hopes of making money moves in the future with her daughter during a talk with Oprah Winfrey last month.

Archie And Lilibet Earned Their Titles After Their Grandfather Became King

The young royals did not immediately become princes and princesses at birth, as they were not grandchildren of a monarch at the time. However, after King Charles was installed as the head of the monarchy, Archie and Lilibet got titles added to their names.

Meghan had earlier blamed the lack of titles for Archie at birth on the fact that he was of mixed race during her interview with Oprah in 2021. The palace quickly debunked this and explained that the rules governing the titles of royal children were set out by George V – Queen Elizabeth’s grandfather – in 1917.

More HRH Title Tensions

Another moment of tension was recorded on the title issue in June after a source claimed Meghan and Harry were tired of waiting for their children’s passports to arrive from the U.K.

They reportedly believed the application may have been blocked because they wanted HRH on their travel documents. Meghan and Harry also opted for Sussex as the kids’ surname, a far move away from the usual Mountbatten-Windsor surname.

“The King hadn’t wanted Archie and Lili to carry the titles, most of all the HRH, and the British passports, once created, would be the first and perhaps the only legal proof of their names,” an insider from Harry and Meghan’s camp shared.

Buckingham Palace denied that the King or his staff intervened. The couple allegedly had their lawyers contact the HM Passport Office about Archie and Lilibet’s applications. Shortly after, the passports were issued with HRH titles and Sussex as the surname.

The Father-Of-Two Reportedly Tried His Maternal Roots For His Kids

The Invictus Games founder, in his moment of waiting for feedback from the United Kingdom, found himself at a serious crossroads. The Blast shared that he approached his maternal uncle, Earl Spencer, for advice on a backup surname should the royals not come through.

The conversation happened on Harry’s recent trip to the United Kingdom. Harry reportedly asked Earl for permission to officially adopt Spencer as his children’s last name if the family insisted on refusing Sussex as a replacement for their traditional last name.

However, his uncle advised against making such a move, and it appears Harry’s patience paid off. On his and Meghan’s HRH titles, the couple reportedly promised the late Queen Elizabeth to ditch the title since they were non-working royals; however, they are not legally banned from using the title.

Professionally, the couple has also failed to get it right with the royals back home. As noted by The Blast, Meghan and Harry appointed a nemesis of the palace as the new director of communications of the Archwell company.

Emily Robinson was reportedly responsible for the publicity of Netflix’s “The Crown” and headed the global promotion team for seasons three to six.

In “The Crown” fifth season, the show portrayed an alleged plot by King Charles to dethrone his mother, depicting his anticipation for her to abdicate the crown in his favor.

Robinson also promoted several controversial episodes, including Harry’s appearance in Nazi fancy dress, Diana’s Panorama interview, and a fictional portrayal of a ‘ghost’ Diana conversing with the Queen.

All these scenes reportedly left a bitter taste in the mouth of the royals, and Robinson played a major role in the team that refused to add a disclaimer to the show.

Meghan and Harry did not seem to care about her controversial history and are instead focused on how she can position their brand in the global space through her expertise.

Prince Harry ordered to reveal any payments to witnesses in case against Daily Mail

Publisher suggests incentives offered by claimants to procure evidence include £5,000-a-month deal with private investigator

The Duke of Sussex has been ordered to reveal any 'inducements' made in return for evidence

The Duke of Sussex has been ordered to reveal to the High Court any “payments or inducements” made in return for evidence in his claim against the Daily Mail.

Associated Newspapers, the publisher that owns the Daily Mail, is accused of carrying out or commissioning unlawful activities such as hiring private investigators to place listening devices inside cars, “blagging” private records, burglaries to order and accessing and recording private phone conversations.

The publisher denies the allegations made by a group of high-profile public figures, including the Duke, Baroness Lawrence, Elizabeth Hurley, Sir Elton John, Sadie Frost and Sir Simon Hughes.

Instead, they claim that incentives were “offered or paid” by researchers working for the claimants’ legal team, including a £5,000-a-month deal with a private investigator called Gavin Burrows.

In a ruling handed down on Friday, Mr Justice Nicklin criticised the “inconsistent and incoherent approach” made by the claimants to providing such evidence, declaring their explanations “unconvincing”.

He said there were “serious questions to be answered” about the status of the claimants’ research team, particularly the documents they held and whether there had been adequate disclosure.

The judge ruled that the group should search for and hand over any documents that suggest that Mr Burrows, or any other potential witness, “has skin in the game”.

The trial is due to take place in January 2026.

Duke of Sussex vs Associated Newspapers: the numbers

  • £740 – the hourly rate claimed by Associated’s Grade A solicitors (those with more than eight years of experience)
  • £18.7m – the combined total of the claimants’ proposed budget
  • £19.8m – Associated’s proposed budget
  • £4.1m – the amount the judges ruled the claimants could spent
  • £4.5m – the amount the judges ruled Associated could spend
  • £216,669 – the claimants proposed budget for settlement negotiations
  • £0 – Associated’s proposed budget to agree a settlement

The judge’s latest ruling follows a two-day case management hearing in May, during which Antony White KC, for Associated Newspapers, asked the court to order the claimants to “search for and disclose any documents that relate to payments, royalties or inducements paid, provided or offered, or any demands or threats made, in order to obtain documents, information or other co-operation”.

The barrister said a limited number of documents had been disclosed, which showed that “payments were made or offered” to “procure evidence and invoices”.

Mr Justice Nicklin said he was satisfied that any documents suggesting witnesses had been paid or offered other inducements should be disclosed.

“That is because there is a real prospect that Associated will be able to rely upon this evidence to attack the credibility of such witnesses,” he added.

“Ultimately, the issue of whether the payment or inducement does affect the credibility of any witness is a matter to be resolved at trial. In this case, the stance adopted by the claimants has been undermined by their inconsistent and incoherent approach to disclosure of documents relating to payments to potential witnesses and/or other inducements.”

The claimants were also ordered to conduct further searches for evidence relating to what has been described in court as their “personal watershed moment” – when they became aware that they had a potential claim.

The Duke of Sussex is said to have sent a text message to Baroness Lawrence alerting her that “information” had come to light “that she would want to know about”, prompting her to join the legal action just a few months later.

In a subsequent email sent by the Duke to Baroness Lawrence about the material his barrister, David Sherborne, had “come across”, he said “he and one of his team would be keen to come and speak to you… in order to explain what this material shows and what your options are”.

The Duke was told he had a potential claim by Mr Sherborne, to whom he was introduced by Sir Elton while on holiday at the singer’s home in France.

Associated Newspapers had sought information about such “moments”, including details of who had allegedly provided what information to whom and on what dates.

‘Surprising’ lack of documentation

Mr Justice Nicklin said he found the lack of documentation on these pivotal moments “surprising”.

Such revelations would surely have prompted “communications between trusted friends and family members; messages seeking advice or guidance, or expressing shock or outrage”, he said.

The judge noted that a “complete absence of corroborating documents” may be used to suggest these moments were not “quite as shocking” as claimed.

Meanwhile, the claimants’ attempt to access broader call data and other information was refused by the judge, who described the requests as “disproportionate or unfocused”.

Broad allegations made about the alleged use of unlawful information gathering across all Mail titles over 25 years were also rejected.

Mr Justice Nicklin warned that such allegations could not prove individual claims and that the court would “tightly manage” the scope of the generic case to prevent the litigation from becoming “a wide-ranging public inquiry”.
