As a delivery driver for FedEx, one of Jezzy Vi’s favorite parts of the job is greeting his customers’ pets. But there’s one stop he looks forward to most because of the special pup who’s always waiting for him outside.
“We’re about to deliver to my favorite good [girl] …” Vi said in a TikTok during one of his recent shifts.
It all started about a year ago, when Vi began delivering to a new house on his route and found a friendly white-and-gray border collie-mix in the front yard. She was far from the first dog Vi had seen on his route — he had plenty of four-legged friends around the neighborhood — but this one was unlike any other.
The first few times Vi visited the house, the dog happily approached him with a wagging tail and a cheeky smile. She’d follow Vi to the door, asking only for pets in return. Until one day, during Vi’s third or fourth visit, the dog jumped up for a hug.

Vi was more than happy to oblige, scratching her head until she let go. And from that day on, the two developed an unspoken routine.
“[She’s] gonna walk with me all the way to the front door, and then I’m gonna set it down and take a picture, and then [she’s] gonna give me a hug in that order,” Vi said.

Although Vi had never formally met the dog’s family and didn’t know her name, he started calling her Bud. And over the course of a year, Bud became the best part of Vi’s work shift — not just for her hospitality.
“It’s just nice to look forward to delivering to this place since it’s usually my last stop for the day,” Vi told The Dodo.

After soaking up a couple of tight squeezes from Bud on his most recent shift, Vi headed back to his truck. He threw the sweet girl some of her favorite treats before taking off with a huge smile on his face.
It may have been their hundredth hug after a year of knowing each other, but it felt just as exciting as the first. And while Vi’s sure to encounter even more cute dogs on his next shift, he’s most looking forward to the last stop of the day.
“[She’s] the friendliest dog on my route,” Vi said.
