Clovis woman battles stage 4 lymphoma while five months pregnant

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — A Clovis woman is facing a life-threatening diagnosis while preparing to welcome new life into the world.

Alyssa Kincaid, 27, is five months pregnant and recently learned she has stage 4 lymphoma. What began as unusual symptoms during her pregnancy was initially dismissed by several doctors, telling her it was just a difficult pregnancy.

“We took her to the ER, she got admitted, was discharged and we had to take her back the next day,” said Amanda Kincaid, Alyssa’s mother. “That’s when I knew something wasn’t right.”

Amanda says that’s when her motherly intuition kicked in, and further testing revealed the cancer.

“We were in the hospital room, sobbing hysterically and she was holding his hand. Just saying I’m going to be okay. It was pretty remarkable,” says Kincade.

Alyssa, a former Fresno Pacific University soccer player and outdoor enthusiast, began chemotherapy within days.

“I feel weaker some days. Some days I sleep all day long. I get really tired and have cancer on top of pregnancy. You’re feeling the pregnancy symptoms, just tired,” says Kincade.

Doctors told Alyssa her baby saved her life — that the cancer may have gone undetected longer.

At this point, they say her baby girl, whom she has named Addison, is healthy and active.

Alyssa says feeling her daughter kick gives her strength to keep going.

“She is definitely a miracle,” Alyssa said. “Having cancer is one thing, but also carrying another life with you at the same time can feel kind of stressful. But it’s also very comforting, knowing that I am physically not going through it alone.”

With “Girl Dad” on his hat, Zac, her fiancé, is by her side. Even though their future plans were brought to a halt, hope is not lost.

“She’s my world. Everything I do is just to help her at the moment from here on out,” says Zac.

Encouraging signs and lime green ribbon, the color of Lymphoma cancer awareness, line her Clovis community.

It’s a show of strength, as she is surrounded by her “Support Squad.”

Remaining positive through the roller coaster ride, Alyssa says she is taking it day by day, looking forward to the moment she can finally hold her daughter in her arms.

“She’s going to have quite a story to tell, too. We’re excited for her to get here sometime in the fall,” says Kincade.

There is a fundraiser event planned for later this month, but we have been told it is fully sold out!

Clovis woman gives birth to ‘miracle’ baby while battling stage four lymphoma

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — Action News first introduced you to 27-year-old Alyssa Kincade back in July.

The young mother-to-be was 20 weeks pregnant when she found out she had stage four, aggressive lymphoma.

Months later, on September 19, 2025, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

“We’re just so happy! I just feel excitement and joy looking at her and hope. If she can come out being healthy, normal and happy, all those things after the chemo that she’s been through with me, I’ll be okay,” says Kincade.

At three pounds and nine ounces, baby Addison Marie is a real-life miracle.

It was a dream come true when Kincade found out she was pregnant.

Like any soon-to-be mother, she monitored her symptoms, but quickly realized something wasn’t right.

After seeing several doctors, at five months pregnant, she learned the devastating news.

She had stage four lymphoma.

Since her diagnosis, both mom and baby have undergone five rounds of chemotherapy together.

Just two weeks after their last session, baby Addi came early.

The newborn was delivered safely through C-section at Saint Agnes Medical Center.

“Kind of crazy that my little chemo buddy is with me today. It’s been really heartwarming to have her with me through all of the chemo,” says Alyssa.

The family spent 16 days in the NICU so doctors could run numerous tests. Now, a month after being born, baby Addi is five pounds, healthy, and happy.

“It was nerve-racking. I was lucky enough to be in the C-section room with Alyssa and Zach, and emotions took over the moment they pulled her out and she screamed. Gosh, she shot out, Alyssa is a fighter, and that baby screamed coming out. She’s a fighter also,” says Amanda Kincade, Alyssa’s mom.

From their community in Clovis to the greater Central Valley, this journey transformed strangers into family.

“When you go through something like this, and everybody steps up, rallies and treats you as one of their own, it’s hard to describe, but it was a big deal for all of us,” says Adam Kincade, Alyssa’s dad.

This birth, the first step in Alyssa’s recovery, is now focused on becoming cancer-free.

With her baby in her arms, the new mom looks towards a bright future with her growing family.

“It’s very unique what Addie and I have gone through together, but I think in the end, everything happens for a reason. We’re just happy that she’s here and she’s healthy,” says Alyssa.

Baby Addi will still undergo tests for the next several months as doctors monitor her health.

Alyssa is continuing her chemotherapy.
